Great coffee, and great customer service. The big coffee chains are contemporary but feel so cold and stark now-a-days. Murphy’s strikes the perfect balance of modern and inviting!
I worked at Starbucks for six years, so I know a thing or two about coffee shops—and let me tell you, Murphy’s Coffee is an absolute gem. The space is spotless, the service is fast and friendly, and the beverages are consistently top-notch. Whether you’re craving a rich latte, a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, or something a little more unique, Murphy’s delivers every time. It’s become our go-to spot for coffee, and it never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Got the “Maple Bacon” - one of the best bagel breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had! Super tasty. Wonderful aesthetics as well

First time in Charlottesville and since it was my namesake I thought I'd stop. A coffee shop with no cold brew :( Had to order an iced coffee. Was hot coffee poured over ice making it watered down. Asked for cream and sugar and was directed to a serving area. Disposable 1/2 and 1/2 cups for cream and only sugar available was sugar in the raw. That doesn't melt in cold drinks.
Also had a bagel and cream cheese. Overall the food was OK but very disappointed with the coffee.

This place has always been off and on. Sometimes it's decent , but mostly it's bad.
This morning 10/31, we got a sausage egg chz and a bacon with cream cheese. There was basically no cream cheese on either bagel. It was a thin layer that looked just like a lightly buttered bagel. They also charge $1.80 to add cream cheese which is fine, but I would expect a normal amount. Not sure what to even call what was served to us.
Please see photo for reference.
It's just sad to try and get breakfast for my family and a restaurant just short us like this so hard.
As mentioned, this isn't the first time we've been disappointed from Murphy's.
The everything bagels lacked seasoning as well.
Really disappointed since it's the only local spot with bagels and a beautiful location, but I will not be back.

I ordered the avo bagel and it was delicious. The bagels are fresh and chewy, and the feta and pistachio on top of the avocado added the perfect salty crunch. I can’t wait to try more options on their menu. Oh, and the coffee was piping hot and freshly made

Definitely not what it used to be at all. The bagels are very plain and their menu is very limited. We used to go there 3-4 times a week and went once when they reopened and we were super disappointed with the quality of food and taste of the coffee and won't be back.

This was not good. I went because of the reviews. I was the only person there. Super slow. Wanted a good everything bagel from a bagel shop. This is what I got. Not seasoned at all and they must keep it close to other bagels because it tastes sweet. Bag was dirty. No napkins in the bag for a food order. I won't be going back.

stopped here one morning on our trip to the mountains. it's family friendly, good service and great coffee! it was a nice morning outing, and kids enjoyed sitting out on the deck. if your near the madison area, it's worth checking out. :)
Stoped for breakfast on 9/14 and my daughter and I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel. Not bad but they were lukewarm and not toasted at all. For $8 a piece I was a little let down.
My wife and other daughter both ordered the maple cinnamon bagel with maple cinnamon cream cheese. We got on the road and the spread was full of green things I determined to be pistachios. I think the sandwich maker must have made a mistake and I am sure glad no one is allergic to nuts. Those two sandwiches ended up being a waste.
I try to support small businesses and local establishments but for $40 I wish we had stopped somewhere else.
Nice building though!

Great bagels and coffee, speedy and friendly service. The covered porch overlooks a pond and provides a comfortable place to gather.

Not what it used to be.
I went to the drive-thru on 6 August 24 and had to wait more than 15 minutes for a latte. I chose this day because of the $2 specialty drinks. When I finally was addressed by the cashier over the intercom, I was given a total cost of more than $5. I asked for the $2 specialty deal, and the cashier corrected the price. After several more minutes I was able to drive to the window, but I again waited. The cashier took my payment and apologized for the delay. Several minutes later the cashier returned and asked what my order was. I told her it was a single latte. She looked at the counter next to her and picked up the drink that was apparently there the entire time.
The drink was disappointing and I would rather go to another coffee shop if this will continue to be the standard.
