I used to dine here often when I was a trucker but stopped in today, Sunday June 29th, at 2.30 pm and was met with a closed sign on the door with a lady stating they only had two pieces of chicken left. There were three people standing outside. Their sign says they are supposed to be open until 4 pm. The attendant outside informed me that they sold out of food. Therefore, I can't give them a good or bad rating. America sure has changed in the last four years that I have been overseas.

One of the best places to eat in smyth co. Nestled in off of exit 54 there is a little restaurant called Sweetwater venue. If you want food that tastes like it came out of your grandmother's kitchen then you need to take the time to stop.

The food is amazing! All homemade, desserts as well! And the sweetwater is DIVINE. If you try nothing else, get a glass of sweetwater. Owner is very friendly, wait staff was friendly and skilled. No complaints from me.

The whole incident began because my husband asked if they served fries. Evidently the cook was offended by this. I ordered the "2 hotdogs all the way with chili,cheese, and onions with a side." I had always wondered why no one ever ate there and the first clue was that they served the food in styrofoam plates and bowls and the people beside us got theirs in hinged to-go boxes. The waitress was very nice and there was no problem until a man brought me 2 hotdogs on buns.....nothing on them. I said "the menu said they came with chili, cheese, and onions." He said that I didn't order them that way, that they come 4 ways and grabbed a menu. When I repeated what the menu said, he started getting upset and wouldn't let me see the menu again. I said fine just bring me some mustard and it would be fine. That's when my husband made the mistake of asking about the fries again and the guy went off, screamed "We don't serve french fries. How about this....how about you go eat somewhere else," grabbed all of the food off the table and threw it all in the trash. Of course my husband was upset and said some nasty things to him on the way out but clearly this guy had a chip on his shoulder that was evidently knocked off by a french fry. BTW just try to find a health inspection rating on them. They have been know to skirt around inspection.

At the time, we were the the only customers. We had our two Dachshunds Morgan and Hardy. We were looking for outside seating but they told us bring them on in because they are family. It was like eating at a relatives.

Stopped in on our nobo through hike for a sweet water drink and can’t say how nice the people here are and how good the sweet water is! We also had a Mac and cheese side after hearing how it was made and loved that as well. Super nice people with outstanding food and can’t say enough about the sweet water drink we had.
