At first glance, you would think this is a quaint little mom n pop place, but the menu is for a Michelin star restaurant. You get like 3 options for dinner entrees and uncomfortable, crowded seating. Outrageously expensive, tiny dishes do not match the drab atmosphere. While the food was good, there's no way I would recommend this place to anyone.

Last night was the first time all four of us ate here, and we loved it! Our server was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Two of us ordered Orleans Chicken, one had the Salmon plate, and the fourth had a Thai tofu vegan dish. After our meal two had a dark chocolate crème brûlée, and I had a delicious bread pudding. Everything we ordered was delicious, and we definitely will be returning!Vegetarian options: It’s fairly clear which menu options are vegetarian or vegan.Dietary restrictions: There are some gluten-free menu choices.Kid-friendliness: There are menu items specifically for kids.

We have eaten here a bunch last night I’m sorry to say will be our last the food was ok but not for the price. The food was poorly seasoned and the cheese cake for $10 was very small and not worth it. We paid 100 for dinner and what a waste. We came home and had to cook food as my wife did not eat. The owner came out and did not ask about it even check on us he got me a refill and left. We are locals so very sad. Good luck the menu is small and does not change enough.

Superb food at very keen prices, service was excellent!! The fried oysters as a special were amazing as was the braised leg of lamb, pork chop and the fried catfish. The bread pudding was brilliant served with a caramel sauce and whipped cream. We definitely will be going back!

Tasty Cajun food in Scottsville. Nice, quaint place in the heart of town. Great entrees and deserts.

I live in a coastal NC town with scores of fine dining restaurants and none of them has impressed me as much as this lovely little restaurant in a town of less than 1000 people. We were only in the area two days therefore only able to enjoy two meals but both were exceptional. Over the two evenings we had the gumbo, kale Caesar salad, both the shrimp and crab cake etouffees, and the chicken orleans. The service was wonderful both evenings as well. I highly recommend !

We came to Scottsville planning to go to another restaurant but were tempted by the cute outside and I am so glad we were. Excellent food, great service. Nice wine list. We enjoyed half-off-wine-bottle Wednesday!

My family is new to the Scottsville area. With so few local dining options, and even fewer that were open, we decided to give the Batteau a try. While the food was good, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff was pleasant, it is unlikely we will be return customers. The menu is not "family friendly" as there were no options for children. The portion sizes are also not what we expected for the price. I also feel misled by the menu. We ordered the Batteau Burger, which comes with Batteau Fries. Batteau Fries, according to their appetizer menu, are supposed to come with an aioli sauce, but the batteau fries that accompanied our burgers did not. When we pointed this out we were disappointed to learn that we could add aioli for an upcharge. The burger entrée is already 18 dollars without an upcharge, and while it is a tasty dish, it was just not worth it in my opinion. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. We left with much lighter wallets and bellies than we anticipated.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all
