After reading reviews, I was very excited to try this restaurant and Invited one of my best friends and my husband To join me for lunch.
My husband had the fish and chips with a side of beer cheese for dipping. It was good! My friend had a burger with beer cheese and fries. She also said it was good.
I ordered the steak, Cooked medium and it came with some of the best Brussel sprouts I’ve ever eaten and a potato concoction, Which was also very good. Unfortunately, When I cut into my steak the ends were well done And The center was medium well. I don’t normally send back my food because I’m afraid of what might happen to it in the kitchen, but this plate looked so delicious and I have been so excited to try the restaurant after reading reviews, that I decided I did not want to just settle and I wanted to experience it at its best … I asked my husband to kindly take it up to the bar area and let them know it was a tad overcooked.
He returned to the table Empty-handed and said they were super nice and I would have my food shortly.
Unfortunately, less than a minute later, A woman came out with my plate And told me that the kitchen had said that to them, IT IS cooked medium And that the lighting must be throwing me off. She said That where I had cut the steak in the center was a little pink. (We were by a window and it was sunlight). I am definitely not one to be confrontational, So I took my plate and said “ thank you”. It was definitely well done on the ends and medium well in the center, But I had already said that, and then was told I was wrong, so there was no point in . She asked if I was sure And I told her it was fine And that I would just keep my plate. I was super kind, butIt was an awkward moment, and I settled for less than best. If it had been cooked correctly and they had not argued with me about the temperature, It would’ve been an amazing experience. My sides were delicious and my steak had good flavor, but It was just a little overcooked for my liking.
It’s definitely worth a try - Really neat atmosphere and good food.

Burgers are cooked well past well done and my wife ordered it to be medium, and my lamb was cooked to a leathery texture that was difficult to chew on. Took my wife here as she had been wanting to give it a try, but both of our levels of disappointment is indescribable. This place is nothing but an over-priced fast food joint; $100 for a very disappointing dinner date with my wife. Hell will freeze before we ever go there again.

On a relaxing Saturday morning, we headed to Smithfield, VA, for a peaceful hike. After exploring the beautiful trails at Windsor Castle Park, we wandered into town to admire the charming architecture and enjoy the cozy fall atmosphere. That’s when we came across The Fiddling Pig restaurant.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who asked if it was our first visit. When we told him it was, he kindly explained how the restaurant works — you order at the bar, seat yourself, and the staff brings your food to the table, a style reminiscent of old England.
We only stopped in for drinks to warm up, but while relaxing and enjoying our beverages, we looked over the menu and were very impressed by the variety and quality of options. The atmosphere was inviting, and we loved walking around to take it all in. What really stood out to us was the sign stating: “No tips required — our staff are fairly compensated with a living wage.” That truly earned our respect and admiration.
We’ll definitely be back to enjoy a full meal next time. Thank you to the owners for creating such a thoughtful and welcoming establishment — we wish you continued success! Please visit and support this wonderful local spot.

If you enjoy English football, or just want a pint of London Pride, this is the best place in Hampton Roads! The service is top notch, and the owners make you feel right at home. Also, no tipping. Highly recommend!

I am posting this to let all my friends in town know how I was treated by the Fiddling Pig proprietors tonight. I set up my market tents on Friday night before market in my assigned space in the Banks Parking lot. Sometimes I get there and there is a vehicle parked in my space. I will leave a note on the windshield asking if they will please call me when they leave so I can come back and set my tents up no problem they usually do without a problem. Well tonight I went back to set up at about 10:15 and the truck was still there the fiddling pig was the only placed still open so I went in I waited until they were about closed to come in figuring it was an an employees car. I brought the note that you see above and handed to the person behind the bar and asked if they would mind to help me out. The person behind the bar got all up on me real nasty like and said don't you ever come into this establishment again and ask us to move a car for you "mate" know you have got a you problem its not a me problem its a you problem. I said that's why I waited for you to be near closing. He starts walking out the door and says Come out here mate I'm going to do you a favor, I figured he was going to move the car, Instead he gets up in my face and tells me Mate don't you ever come in to this establishment again or I'll throw you out and started giving me all kinds of warnings he was very rude I mean just treated me like crap for no reason at all maybe I don't understand maybe I am wrong but he didn't need to treat me like that and threaten me. I went in there once before about 6 months ago with the same request and one of the employees came out and moved a couple spaces over for me all was fine. This I was looking just for a little common curtesy for another merchant myself which it is common practice for all to help out when we can. But no. I get craped on by someone getting in my face and threatening me and implied the favor was that he dragged me outside to do it and he wasn't going to beat me this time, that was the favor. . He said he would call the cops on me. So I answered said go ahead in fact I will call them and I did. The police officers arrived and told me the only thing they could do since the parking lot was private (belongs to the bank) they could do nothing unless I want to file charges for him threatening me. I told the officers I don't really want to do that sorry I wasted your time. Well just about then a woman showed up and claimed to be the owner and told the officers I came into the restaurant swearing and making a load scene. I looked at her and said why are you lying to these officers you should be ashamed of yourself. Then she said That I did this several times before and implied that I have been a problem. Another lie but the officers didn't buy into it. I showed them the note that I posted above. The long and short of it is all of you my friends here on FB know me for years, Does that sound like the Tony You know, Do I treat people and my customers like that. wouldn't think of it, can you see me walking into a restaurant and making a scene. Honestly I gave them my business a couple times since they opened I personally will never give them another dime. I am not asking you to do the same I have no desire to ruin anyone's business running a restaurant is very difficult. just want you to know how they treated me. No respect at all. I just hope if one of you know her or the man behind the bar that calls everyone Mate, that you tell them who I am as far as a person goes and tell them your my friend and you don't appreciate them treating me like that and then lying to the officers. It really hurt my feelings that they disrespected me like that. I never disrespect anyone.
Fun place with amazing customer service in a great location. Great selection of drinks. Will be back.

My fiancé and I love grabbing dinner here - great food, yummy vegetarian options which are sometimes hard to find in Smithfield, and amazing drinks. Just tried their somewhat new online ordering for lunch. It was fast and easy and my food was beautifully packed up to go when I stopped by to pick it up. Just overall great food, great atmosphere, great staff, and now it is even easier to pick up that great food to-go as well! Definitely reccomend.

What a charming English Tavern in the middle of downtown Smithfield. Corner lot so I could watch the world go by...Sat outside. It was a lovely Saturday. I got the Shepard pie, a little spicy but tasted good. Small but abundant of lamb, carrots and peas in a spicy gravy topped with toasted mash potatoes. The bread pudding was delicious.
