Need to update the photos. The character of the pub is no longer. The apnesphere is very bright and cafeteria like. Food was ok but I was uncomfortable in the new environment. They should have left it as it was with new management. It to modernized to suit the age and history of the inn

I stumbled upon this restaurant in smithfield last year (2022) for my birthday. My mom and I ordered the clams and absolutely loved them! We got a second order of them and raved about them to everyone. We kept trying to find an opportunity to go back. It didn't work out, then this year (2023) for my b-day my husband wanted to take my out. I insisted on the William Rand Tavern for the clams and invited my mom. We both ordered them as our entree. HORRIBLE! No joke, every single one of the clams on her plate and mine, were no bigger than a pencil eraser. Certainly waaay to small to even taste the clams. I cant believe they would even serve them like this!

Stopped in for a spur of the moment drink. Bill was amazing. He had insightful information to share about the history of the beautiful building and he crafted amazing drinks catered towards our taste. Absolutely amazing service!

This hidden gem really shines. She-crab soup and fried pickled okra was awesome! I requested bacon on my blackberry salad and it was so yummy. The fried chicken on the Caesar was seasoned perfectly. We can’t wait to return.

We made plans for our anniversary to stay at the Smithfield Inn and Restaurant. The new owner was very friendly and could not do enough to made our anniversary a happy occasion. The meal was excellent and our room was very cozy with fireplace and seating area separate from the bedroom. It was very clean and quiet. Then to top it off we were given breakfast coupons for the near by Gourmet Bakery. The bakery was also excellent. We would stay there again and longer to enjoy the cute small downtown shops. Be back soon!

This place has everyone running around in masks sniffling and messing with there face constantly. The food is overpriced for what you get, and they kick locals out of the dinning room and then "magically" open for business for tourist season. I'm not sure what is wrong with the servers for them to be dressed like they have the plague, but the are constantly sniffling, you cannot understand half of what they say because they are muffled, and its the feeling of you are an inconvenience by even stepping close to the door.

My uncle & I went to the Smithfield Inn restaurant on Saturday, October 17, 2020 for lunch. I'm a local, but I've never had the opportunity to go to the restaurant before and now I'll be a new regular! The customer service was outstanding and everyone followed social distancing regulations so I felt safe enough to dine in. I would like to shout-out the Manager and our server Jeff (I hope I remembered that right) for their excellent service!! Apparently, they were short-staffed that day, but I couldn't tell ?????? The food was delicious and perfect sevice, thank you!
