Ernie’s on wheels—food is phenomenal & service is quick! Staff very friendly as well!! 10/10 recommend
It was a great place to eat, I wish it would open back up. We would drive all the way from Danville, Virginia to eat there.
$18.95 for a very small buffett is a little high, even for post COVID times. Service was amazing We will go back, but maybe just for Lunch.
Very delicious food, all of it! We got the buffet here and like i said everything was top notch. Their regular menu looked excellent and I will frequent this restaurant everytime I'm in this area. The very nice Owner seated us and talked to us a while. A true gentleman. Support your local mom and pop businesses they need your help!
Absolutely delicious food and friendly staff. A must visit if in South Boston VA!!!
The food was great. The atmosphere was good, the waitress was very kind and helpful we will be back soon.
The front of the restaurant is so lovely and inviting! When I walked in, I got a friendly greeting. Other customers even greeted me! What a pleasant surprise after a long day of driving. It went downhill from there. I waited forever for a menu and then almost as long for the wait to come back. The one thing on the menu that I wanted, they were out of that. I can’t eat dairy or onions, so I ended up eating from the buffet. I do not recommend it. I had a plate of green beans, carrots, cole slaw, turnip greens and pork BBQ. They were out of pepper vinegar. That might have been the only thing that could have saved this incredibly bland, mushy tasteless meal. Veggies from a can, cooked to death. They put onions in the cole slaw! The atmosphere is nice, good elevator music. It’s not my cuppa, but it might be yours.
We went to a Golden Corral in NC. My wife said that since it was past breakfast upon arriving in the parking lot that she had rather go somewhere different. It was past 11 am, the cut off time for omelets and I concurred. She mentioned Ernie's Restaurant in South Boston, VA where we had been before and that's where we went.It was very busy this past Saturday, but Ernie's has ample dining rooms and we didn't have to wait to be seated. They said that there was a graduation, and we saw some young people wearing gown and formal attire.I have taken my wife to Ernie's about twice before. We have always had the buffet which is very good with a variety of meats, vegetables, salad, soup, bread and desserts.I was in the mood for steak, and I asked if they had any, and to my surprise, I was given a menu which included Ribeye steak. I ordered the steak meal and the buffet. It was very economical and both meals combined didn't cost as much as a steak meal alone in some restaurants. My wife got the buffet and it was so good that she ate more than what she normally does, and by the time she finished her dessert she was stuffed.I was also in the mood for some fried okra and it wasn't available, but our waitress, went to the kitchen and fried us some okra which hit the spot.I like the dining area atmosphere and the relaxing music that they play. It helps with the digestion of the food.We are looking forward to driving back to South Boston, VA to dine at Ernie's Restaurant.R. Markham
I was d*** and didn't get the buffet even though it looked so good, instead I got the spaghetti and meatballs which was pretty average, but my parents each got the buffet and really enjoyed it. (We were there around 2pm, apparently it switches to seafood buffet at 4 pm so no idea how good that is). Great view of a little pond if seated by the rear windows, not necessarily the newest place but nothing wrong with it. Service was excellent, thought that could've been since it wasn't super busy. Waitress offered to substitute fudge instead of the salad that came with my spaghetti, even though I'm sure it doesn't cost them any more, really appreciated the gesture.
True American buffet Southern-style. Stumbled on this restaurant on Father's day and decided to give it a try. I've lived in the South all my life and I looked forward seeing how this buffet food measured-up to buffets of the past. This is the first buffet I've been to since Covid hit. There was baked chicken, fried chicken tenders, fried cat fish, succotash, green beans, banana pudding, mashed potatoes. Everything tasted wonderful. The restaurant has been there for 63 years. There's a reason for this but you'll have to visit to see.

Best BLT. Don’t know if I was just hungry, but was among the best I’ve had. Friendly service. Made for a nice afternoon with my parents.
The food was okay but the lady manager was very unprofessional there was issue with the price quoted over the phone and the price at time of purchase ...the manager go to get the person who answered the phone and have her argue with me about what was said instead of the manager handling the situation I found that to be very unprofessional... when all they had to do was apologize for any inconvenience caused...so if you do eat here just confirm pricing before you order...
Beautiful views, warm, friendly service, and very prompt with drink refills. Buffet was yummy, good southern cuisine with hush puppies and warm rolls to boot?
Great variety of southern food on the buffet. Hush puppies were sweet and perfect.
The food was good and it was quiet. I could have a conversation without yelling. Prices were reasonable and the staff and customers were friendly.
