My wife and I where out running some errands and dicided to give this place a try. It was about 3pm, so I gave it a Google and they where open, open until 8pm according to the web page. So we stopped in. There was one other couple who came in right in front of us. Things started off pretty good as we received our menus. That was the high point of the visit. it went down holl.from there. Apparently there was one French dip sandwich left, and the other table got it. Being lite eaters, we both pondered a $16 burger with fries. But wait. they dont have any fries. Onion rings or chips. For $16, I dont want CHIPS. So after about 45 minutes here comes are food. Its a $16 burger, so its going to be worth it. WRONG. I'm expecting a $16 burger with onion rings at this time. what I got was about five steps below what I get at the ball field when my granddaughter plays softball. The onion rings were the same kind I take out of a bag at home, but a lot more chewy. My wife and I both got a snicker of the oinion ring gum. After our whoke experience and being a pretty darn good cook and grill master myself, I believe our burgers must have sat waiting to be brought to our table the majority of the wait time. The 1/4 leaf of lettuce i got on mine was almost completely dissolved from sitting UNDER the beef patty for so long. Then we waited for another 15-20 for our waitress to ask for two to-go boxes. Finally I ask some young lady who apparently worked there for one. Instead of getting it herself, she told someone behind the wall, who proceeded to walk out with then and hand them to the other table, turn around and disappear again. They were too busy looking about who was going home early, as we could hear the conversation at our table. Still no to-go boxes. Why it was an issue I dont know, just habbit I guess, because we weren't eating these left overs. We finally got them and left. Never to return. Which is a shame because South Hill is in desperate need of a few more GOOD restaurants. I understand the prices. With what minimum wage is, over head, inventory, insurance, ect. But if I can get a better burger WITH fries at any of the fast food places much cheaper, and faster, why would I go here. If you've asking a Red Robin price, deliver a Red Robin burger.

Homemade goodness! Every detail was done right. The burger was delicious, the fries are literally hand cut, the drinks were crispy 🙌, the tomato was a true garden tomato! Definitely recommend!

The owner is the absolute worse person I have ever seen in customer service. Hospitality was not in his DNA!!
This place is about to exchange hands. The new owner was there wrapping up the details.
The current owner was speaking negatively about him to staff & guests.
He kept saying he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
On my way out I totally agreed with him. I will be back after the new owner takes over & I am in Virginia again.
I am from Indy. Been in Service industry my entire life & I have NEVER seen anyone that unprofessional.

This place is a gem. When my son and daughter in law asked where I wanted to go for Father's Day, I immediately thought of The Hungry Farmer. The owners actually built this place with their own labor. Some of the equipment is still parked nearby. The food is outstanding and freshly prepared. Some of the produce comes from the garden in front. The owners and staff could not be more pleasant and helpful. The inside dining area is small but charming. The patio space is large and well maintained. The menu is not vast but that is good because it has something for everyone and lets staff make the best. The daily specials are always interesting. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. You will not be disappointed. My d-i-l's ribs were perfect.

Wonderful restaurant with great service. lots of specials that constantly rotate, large portions, and quick service. you can feed a family of 4 here for just a few dollars more than Wendy's and the food is excellent.

They have a beautiful outdoor seating area, friendly service, and maybe the best fries I’ve ever had.

Thumb-thick pancakes and locally sourced XL sausage patties and hot coffee without end.
I am not a small man and I had to stretch to finish two pancakes and one sausage patty.
Breakfast this good makes me want to see what they do with lunch and dinner.
