Had a great time! Lovely room, no TV was a plus - a nice opportunity to decompress. Staff was friendly, breakfast was delicious
Walkability: restaurant within walking distance

Idyllic bed and breakfast conveniently located to Shenandoah National Park (~15 minute drive) nearby wineries and restaurants. We stayed for a night and the room was cozy, the owners are incredibly friendly, and the breakfast was great before a day of hiking. The taproom was also really nice and the beer was excellent. Definitely recommend for a weekend away

I was extremely disappointed with the service my fiance and I received during our one-night stay at Hopkins Ordinary. We arrived to check in mid-afternoon; we were meeting our photographer to do our engagement photoshoot in the Sperryville area, I in my wedding dress and he in his suit. Out of courtesy, I asked the innkeeper if she minds if we take a couple of photos at the inn before we leave. She said no, she didn't mind, "so long as we respected the other guests." As she was showing us to our room, she showed us our porch and said we could take a photo on it. It was a wrap-around porch shared with other guests -- a couple sets of chairs and tables. Once we were dressed, our photographer asked us to stand on the sunny corner of the porch so we could get the church in the background. We weren't taking photos there for more than five minutes and no other guests were present outside.
The innkeeper came out onto the porch (I guess she was watching us from afar) and stated, as if we were children, "this is what I meant when I told you that you need to be respectful. You are on the neighbor's side of the porch." She pointed to "our" corner of the porch directly in front of our room and said we could only take photos in that location (where political signage was visible). We didn't want to let this ruin our happy day, so I apologized and said we were just about leaving anyway. She stated "well, looks like you got the shot."
It is worth restating that there were zero other guests outside at the time this took place. We were quiet and not being disrespectful in any way. Unfortunately, we felt as though younger guests (we are in our mid-20s) are simply not given the same respect as the "regulars."
The remainder of our stay, we were hesitant to leave our room because we did not want to be confronted again for inadvertently disrespecting other guests with our mere presence. I will not be paying to be treated like this and spoken to like a child again in the future.
There are many other bed and breakfasts that I will be returning to instead, such as Foster Harris House just down the road.

Even the baseboards of the room are clean. The breakfast was truly well done. The brewery has a great saison, sort of tastes like a hefeweizen. Walking distance to Three Blacksmiths, Before & After, Copper Fox, Veditz, Walker Bakery, and Wholehearted Chocolates. A few steps from the Saturday farmer's market.

Had an excellent Spring Break stay at Hopkins Ordinary where we were greeted by excellent hosts; stayed in a beautiful room with a fireplace and clawfoot bathtub; given delicious breakfast each morning; received spectacular recommendations for picturesque hikes and views in the area; and even more! I couldn't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much, Caryn and Robert!

My husband and I had a memorable time at the Hopkins Ordinary Inn. We were greeted warmly by the innkeepers, Caryn and Robert who took the time to walk us through the property and answer our questions about the surrounding area of Rappahannock County. The room was very comfortable, immaculately clean, with a fireplace. It was a short walk to our delicious memorable dinner at Three Blacksmiths. Caryn and Robert prepared a delightful breakfast with homemade muffins and eggs. It was a perfect experience topped off by the homemade chocolate chip cookies that were waiting for us in our room. Kudos and thanks to Caryn and Robert for making our visit so special.

This was our second stay at Hopkins Ordinary. We stayed an extra night so we’d have more time to enjoy it and the surrounding area. Wonderful stay, delicious breakfast, amazing service. We love being able to walk to restaurants in Sperryville. This weekend it snowed, so we especially enjoyed the fireplace in our room, in the living room, and in the ale house downstairs. We also very much enjoyed the beers. We had a great, snowy hike in Shenandoah National Park just a 10 min drive from the B&B. Highly recommend, and we hope to be back again soon! Thank you, Caryn and Robert and Sherri and Kevin for a wonderful stay!

Outrageously priced for the service and location.
Didn't stay here but popped in for some beer and had fresh hot pretzels as well. Let me tell you... Both were amazing. Did a flight of their maltier beers and they were very well done. The hot pretzels with both the fig and mustard dips were amazing.
We very much enjoyed our short stay at the Hopkins Ordinary B&B last summer! Very attentive and nice staff and a beautiful building! We enjoyed our very nicely decorated room, the fresh and delicious breakfast as well as sitting on the porch, having a coffee or a beer. Great place to stay when going to the Shenandoah National Park. Would love to come again and would definitely recommend!

Stopped by here for a beer after a long, wonderful hike. We loved the atmosphere - they have a beer garden beneath a most magnificent tree and a stone-walled cellar that reminds me of sitting in bars in Prague or Germany. Service and the beer were all terrific. Had a warm soft pretzel with our refreshing drinks, though snack options are limited.

We stopped there for the beer garden. And it was great. They have a lovely basement, and it is very unique. They also have lots of outdoor seating, but we didn't get to enjoy it because it was kinda hot, but maybe next time. Beer was great, and the bar people were very friendly and awesome.
Wow! What a great, unexpected, amazing experience. The Inn was quaint and historical. Sitting on the porch drinking crafted beer and enjoying nature and just getting away from it all! The innkeepers shared their perfect vibe with us! Breakfast was absolutely fantastic as well!! Anyone looking for a great location close to Shenandoah National Park with a truly great vibe - this is your place! Being across from the general store with their home-baked goods didn’t hurt either.
Sherri and Kevin were outstanding hosts! They offered great ideas re: day trips and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent! And did we mention the brewery?! Our hosts also make outstanding beers in their cellar brewery on site. The B and B was conveniently situated just outside of Shenandoah National Park — perfect for folks who want to wake up and get out into nature. We will be back!!
