Excellent beer. Some of the more interesting and delicious beers I have had in quite some time. Really unique ambiance, I absolutely recommend visiting this spot. In fact, go out of your way a bit to go here.
Amazing place! I’d be doing a disservice if I tried to describe it! You gotta taste and see it for yourself… the motorcycle ride there has beautiful scenery!
Dog-friendly, kid-friendly, bartender-friendly and tastebud-friendly. What more can you ask for.
Go here ASAP!! The beer flavors are fabulous and the decor is so cool. You can also bring food inside so a picnic is great with the drinks provided!
A wonderful spot next door to Copper Fox Distillery. I had never gone to Pen Druid, which I understand moved to a new location just outside Sperryville town limits. This brewery is rather ramshackle and I love that type of feel in a brewery (and winery). I tried the IPAs and they were all terrific, and a bit different from each other. One of them even had a back taste of pineapple.
The owner/brewer is deaf and extremely generous and gracious. Their logo is amusing. A definite must-visit if you're in the area to hike or bike.
Awesome place and owner
Really enjoyed the beers and the friendly welcoming atmosphere for us and our pup
New brewery in fun little location. Lots of beer choices & flights are offered to allow to try several. It is a nice addition to learn a little ASL too, as the owner is deaf. Food truck was available at 1 pm (on a Saturday) but offerings were slim (mostly egg rolls and quick bites). We were able to get takeout nearby.
Amazing brewery! Have to try the Copper Ale. Also a cool intro to sign language! Will definitely come back to support this business!
This place is a must stop after hiking! I got the flight and each beer had a very unique flavor. I also got a full pour of the strawberry lemon mint sour, I don’t typically like sours, but it was absolutely amazing! It was the perfect drink on a hot summer day.
Really a bad experience all around. Got three different beers (two IPAs and an ale) and all of them use sour yeast so they all taste sour. But beside that when I can in to use the restroom the bartender/owner started yelling at me about the restrooms only for customers. So then I bought a beer and tried to explain that I had bought beers earlier and he didn’t believe me. So then I took my beers down by the river and apparently crossed into public property because then he came over and yanked the beer out of my hand and threw it out as he stormed back to his bar. So screw that guy and you’re much better off (in terms of both beer and hospitality) going somewhere else. It’s a shame because it’s a great property with other small businesses but it takes one jerk and we’re going someplace else. Blah.
Restaurantji Recommends
Edit: bumping this up to four stars because the owner replied and was a complete class act. Also I totally missed that they do have a full size ring toss
Great location and bartender was cool to sign with. Kids play corner was a hit. Beers were uniformly good, the sours stood out to us as excellent. The ambience outside is wonderful, but inside ambience is rocky. They seem to be aiming for a rough look but it came across as dark and musty. Antique store next door has the same issue - the entire building smells musky from being damp. The miniature bar games are so-so - I'd recommend they just install a proper size ring toss as it's 10min to install and drastically superior to the table-top version. Miniature shuffleboard was fun
We'd definitely return for the beers and the owner, but only if it was a good day for outdoor enjoyment
Great experience. Made a quick stop to the brewery over the weekend during the summer solstice celebration. Right away you get this amazing sense of community. The live music was great and the space was very dog friendly.
A really great beer experience. A must stop after Old Rag
Such a cool spot. The vibe is a little artsy and chaotic but very fun. The owner is a great guy and attentive. Beer was great as well. Location is deal for a tasting here and the near by distillery.
Delicious beers that aren't too heavy, beautiful patio, and cool bartender. The menus let you learn the ASL alphabet. We spent a beautiful, chill June evening here. LOVE.
