We almost never give five stars, so four means we really liked it. Our second lunch in recent months at Chef Geoff's on New Mexico was really excellent. The burger and a nice riff on chicken Milanese were delicious. Note that we were not as impressed by one visit to the West End location.

New menu at Chef Geoff's New Mexico Avenue NW DC. Two of us ordered fish and chips. Terrible. What should be a simple dish to prepare and enjoy was overcooked, greasy and dark as if the kitchen's frying oil had not been changed recently. We also had calamari to start - similar.but the fish and chips were worse. We are longtime local customers and will give it another shot but very disappointing. Hard to believe anyone in management would have approved of this dish or sent it out.

I'll start by admitting that I've been coming to Chef Geoff's when Geoff Tracy opened it more than 2 decades ago. The food is consistently excellent. But in the last year or so, the service has been erratic; sometimes great, and sometimes affirmatively poor (a few nights ago: waited 20 minutes for order to be taken, had to ask for napkins, had to ask for a spoon when soup was served, etc. - not a disaster at all, but not enjoyable). The servers themselves are fine; they simply are VERY understaffed and poorly managed. We'll still go back since the food remains great, but I'll just be prepared for hit-or-miss service. It's something management could easily correct.

Wonderful receptionist, wonderful waitress, great space, and lovely food. Every time we have eaten there, it has been exceptionally good.

One guest did not receive her order. We waited about 10-12 minutes and then found server who did bring us the missing entre. But it did take awhile.

Although they had many empty tables outdoor , they first insisted our reservation was for indoor . They finally sat us in a table outdoor . The food was good and the service was good too . A little slow getting our coffee but it was ok at the end

Went to brunch- had the Benedict, avocado toast, breakfast burrito, and waffle. All of the food was bland, absolutely no flavor, hollandaise sauce tasted like water, no salt in anything. Food was really disappointing. Not sure how this place gets such good reviews. Perhaps dinner is better..

Happy hour here was very reasonably priced and fun! Just the vibe I was looking for, not too loud but still enjoyed by many different groups of people. We LOVED the Caesar fries and the steak quesadilla, we ordered it twice!! They validated out parking too:)
Went for lunch today. They changed the menu a little and the new items are really good. I had the Hangover Smashed Burger and the Pear Croustade. Planning to try the Hamburger Française next time with wild mushrooms and au poivre (pepper) sauce. My friend took the Kale salad but indulged in the Triple Chocolate Decadence. Their patio is the best in DC. Staff was smiling and helpful too.

Disappointing this day and we love CG. We've been coming for years and practically raised our grandkids at dinnertime outings.
The bacon waffle I ordered should come off the menu. I kept thinking it would get fixed with more syrup. It was flat and hard as a rock. The bacon stuck out on the corners and was not chewable. I thought it would be chopped up in the batter? Needless to say the waffle itself didn't have any nooks and crannies. Sorry.
