Hello, I would like to complain about this restaurant Darya Kabob located in Sterling, VA. Today I went to eat and there was a piece of plastic in the salad they gave me. When I picked it up, it was this big. I couldn't believe the lack of hygiene. In addition, there was a cockroach on the table in a corner. It's shameful that this happens since I see that they lack not only hygiene standards but also service. I also felt discriminated against since 50 minutes passed and they only brought me the salad and bread. When other customers arrived much later, they were given their food. The waitress was super hateful. Besides the food being dirty, it seems that they are racist. How sad these events are. Oh, and I have pictures of what I'm saying.

Great food, not a date place but owners are super friendly. Love the white sauce.

I was really disappointed with my visit to Darya Kabob. The food did not taste authentic at all and was far from what real Afghan cuisine should be. The flavors were bland and unbalanced, and nothing felt freshly made. On top of that, the prices were way too high for the quality served. Honestly, it felt like I paid more for the name than for the food itself. Definitely not a place I would recommend if you’re looking for genuine Afghan food or good value for your money

This place is a hidden gem! The kabobs were perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked just right. You can really taste the freshness in every bite. The sides — especially the rice and garlic sauce — were also delicious and well-portioned.
The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the food came out quickly. Great value for the quality and portion size. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to friends and family. If you’re a kabob lover, don’t miss this place!

I don’t usually write bad reviews, but we ordered the Chicken Bone-in Kabab, and to my surprise, it was made from Cornish hen pieces — including breast, wings, and ribs — instead of just leg and thigh meat, which is what a bone-in kabab should use. Since the pieces were so small, they ended up overcooked and tasteless. I can’t comment on anything else, as the experience was disappointing overall.

I ordered Combo #2 and everything was incredibly fresh. The customer service was excellent; friendly and attentive. The white and green sauce bottles provided with the meal added an extra layer of flavor to an already delicious and flavorful dish.
They provide complimentary green tea and water that is readily accessible. Highly authentic, and recommended!
My only suggestion would be to provide proper plates and silverware for dine-in customers.

The food is good and the staff are friendly; however, the items you receive don’t match the photos on the DoorDash menu. I’ve ordered the chicken kabob twice, which is pictured with lemon, grilled tomato, onion, chickpeas, and side sauces—but both times, I only received the sauces. It’s disappointing. If these items are no longer included, the photo should be updated to reflect what’s actually offered.

Not bad at all. Chicken kabob was good. Fresh and juicy. Kubideh/kabob was good but not the same level as other places

The food costs around $40 to $50 for two people, but they serve it on disposable plates! The design is terrible! It lacks any real culture. There are some Persian posters (like Hafez...) on the wall, but when we asked, “Excuse me, is this a Persian restaurant?” they got offended!
Overall, the cultural vibe is weak — the atmosphere doesn’t match the price, and the food wasn’t tasty at all.
I ordered Qabili Palaw to see what it was like, but the meat smelled strongly of lamb, was not cooked well, and the rice had been taken off the heat too early — it wasn’t properly steamed.
I couldn’t eat it and just left it as it was.
All in all, I don’t recommend it.

If you're craving authentic Afghan flavors, Darya Kabob is a must-visit. The restaurant offers a delicious variety of kabob platters, each packed with rich flavor and perfectly grilled meats. Their Kabuli Pulao—a fragrant rice dish with raisins and carrots —is an absolute standout, pairing wonderfully with their tender lamb shank.
The experience is elevated by their complementary black tea, a warm and flavorful touch that rounds out the meal beautifully. Service is both friendly and quick, making it easy to enjoy a satisfying meal without a long wait.
However, the chicken and lamb karahi dishes were underwhelming—lacking the signature spice aroma and depth of flavor you’d expect. These are not recommended, especially with so many better options on the menu.
Overall, a great spot for kabobs and Afghan classics, but skip the karahi.
