Been here a couple times, the hotpot is pretty good and they are really good about bringing out what you order fast unlike other hotpot places but sadly the sushi made me and my fiancée very sick so we will not be returning

Great place! We ordered all three types, and they were fantastic. The flavors were wonderful, and the service was quick and friendly. Make sure you come hungry, as I wished I could eat more! 😋

Running Dish BBQ Sushi and Hot Pot offers a fun, casual dining experience that stands out for its value. The all-you-can-eat menu, priced at $36 per person, includes a wide selection of meats, sushi, hot-pot ingredients, appetizers, and desserts. While some of the meat cuts are not top grade, the overall quality remains good for the price, and portions are generous. The sushi delivery system, which sends plates gliding to your table on a side track, adds a playful and modern touch to the meal.
The restaurant itself is large and open, with plenty of seating that makes it suitable for groups and families. The menu offers variety without feeling overwhelming, and dishes arrive quickly even during busy hours. The appetizers and desserts are plentiful, giving diners a chance to try something different with every visit. Staff service is efficient, and the overall pace of the meal is relaxed enough to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
One of the most memorable features is the robot server that brings drinks while playing Korean hip-hop music—a quirky, entertaining detail that keeps the atmosphere light and enjoyable. The combination of solid food quality, quick service, and a fun dining concept makes Running Dish BBQ Sushi and Hot Pot a good choice for anyone seeking a lively, budget-friendly night out. It earns a solid four stars for variety, experience, and value.

We drove an hour to try this place and I was highly disappointed with the buffet and the soup bases were not good. We ordered one round and was done. Didn’t eat most of it. The crab else’s weee cold and not worth picking up… the people were nice and ambience was good

Great concept! Now we never have to choose between hot pot, sushi or Korean BBQ. We have them all in one place. The hot pot was solid. I preferred the Tom Yum broth better than the Mild Szechuan, just because it was just spice while the Tom Yum had more flavor. The sushi flew to us in the conveyor belt at lightning speed. And the salad and sauce bar had so many options. Really nice place. Next time we will try the Korean BBQ.

Yo I was here with my friend today and… WHAT?? They have all three AYCE options — BBQ, hot pot, and sushi?! Damn 😍🔥
We actually found this place through a DC Spot post on Instagram, then checked out the Google reviews… 😂 Whoever writes the replies is hilarious — we tried to find them today but the manager said they had the day off. Honestly, I really want to meet that person and thank them for their funny and unique reply style.
It was also my friend’s birthday today, and the staff sang SO loud — one tall guy in particular went all out 😂👏 Give that man a raise!! My friend was embarrassed to death but the energy was amazing.
If you’ve got nowhere to go on the weekend, this is the spot. BBQ, hot pot, sushi, crab legs — it’s got everything you need. Great vibes, great food, and unforgettable service. 👍🐼🔥

The service at Running Dish is truly exceptional — probably some of the best I’ve experienced in the area. The staff are incredibly attentive and detail-oriented, and the BBQ is absolutely delicious.
One thing that really stood out to me is how the owner replies to customer reviews. Their responses are full of personality and warmth, nothing like the generic, robotic replies you often see from other restaurants. You can genuinely feel the heart and passion behind their words, and that’s what initially drew me in. I actually discovered this place through DC Spot’s Instagram post, then checked out the Google Reviews and was impressed by how heartfelt the owner’s interactions were.
The overall experience definitely lived up to the hype. If I had to point out anything, it would be that the sushi could use a bit more improvement, and the kitchen could speed up the food service a little. I heard they used to operate in a buffet style — maybe that worked better for their pace? Either way, this place is doing great, and I truly hope they keep it up. Highly recommended!

Mixed Bag – Some Hits, Some Misses
Came here last week for a late Mother’s Day dinner (Sunday evening) and tried all three offerings: hot pot, KBBQ, and sushi. For the price—only about $3 more per person to include everything—it was a great deal on paper.
We arrived at 5 PM and waited about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn’t too bad for a weekend evening.
Hot Pot:
We tried the tonkotsu and tom yum broths. The tonkotsu started off okay but developed a gamey aftertaste. The tom yum was light but not unpleasant. Meat quality was average for the price point, and veggies were fresh. However, the sauce bar was minimal, and overall variety felt limited.
KBBQ:
This was the biggest letdown. The meat quality was noticeably low—multiple servings of kalbi came out mostly fat, not just once but repeatedly. Seasoned meats were overly salty, so we ended up sticking to plain pork belly and fatty brisket.
Sushi:
Sushi was surprisingly solid for the price. Rolls were flavorful, and the sashimi was fresh. Only downside was the wait—took over 20 minutes to arrive after ordering.
Hot Bar:
Only one of the hot food bars was open (unclear why, as their website showed both). Snow crab legs were served cold, and most fried items were soggy. That said, the side dishes were decent.
Service & Ordering:
The tablet ordering system allows you to order as much as you want, but only once every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, food often took 15–20+ minutes to come out, with multiple items missing each round. Our server was kind but not very attentive—we had to ask for drink refills and missing dishes multiple times. If the second food bar line had been open as advertised, it might’ve eased the wait and overall experience.
Overall:
A decent experience, but far from seamless. The price is attractive, and a few items were worth the wait, but the execution needs work—especially with service and food pacing. I’d consider giving it another try, but only if they tighten up the system and improve food consistency.

Good spot for hot pot and sushi! As vegetarians, we really appreciated the one meat-free hot pot base and the fresh sushi options. Wish they offered more veg soup bases and appetizers, but overall a tasty and friendly experience.

I flew from the West Coast to Virginia for a business trip and happened to discover this hidden gem tucked away in a corner. The food and service are truly five stars — especially the BBQ! The whole team is managed extremely well, everyone is patient, and their service is impressively fast. I really hope I can come back again the next time I’m here for work!
Sushi is not supposed to smell like bad fish. Meat is not supposed to have an aftertaste. Really low quality product makes for a very unpleasant meal. First visit is definitely the last!

I had a phenomenal anniversary dinner here. Not only was the service impeccable, our waitress was the most responsive on top of it gal. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile, the food was brought out so quickly. I wish I knew our servers name because she was so amazing, but I got two pina coladas that were great as well.
Overall the best vibes I am stuffed and feel so taken care of

Okay, so this is a Chinese run AYCE sushi-hotpot-korean BBQ place. First time? Try all 3, returning player? Skip the sushi.
The buffet when it first opened was amazing, everything for you to choose yourself from all the meats and sides but I get it with the current change where you have to order from the iPad now. Customers were grabbing stuff from the buffet they weren't supposed to and.. you get the point.
Hot pot ingredients and the Korean BBQ meats were great. Haven't had a bad experience yet and the service there from all the servers I've had until now have been very friendly. I recommend trying (1) portion of each in the beginning to see how much actually comes out and kreser accordingly afterwards to avoid waste.
The sushi is not the worst, but also not good. That said, it's probably relative to what you've had before and what you consider okay sushi. If I sat down and they somehow offered a free sushi package for the table, I'd still skip it.
Again, hot pot and Korean BBQ is great for where this location is at though. Good place to bring friends and famiy if your hungry. Don't be afraid to try their desserts aside from the ice cream.
