The food was GROSS. The crab-cake was breading and burnt, not even shaped like a crab-cake. The fried shrimp was old, smelled old and not seasoned. The fries were cooked in old grease, the smell was atrocious. Never returning.

The one star is for what I witnessed at this place. I live in the Kings Fork area. We decided to get a fish dinner - unfortunately there aren't many places to get that in Suffolk. Anyway, we get there, order our food, and while waiting, watch other customers come in to pickup, or order and pickup, their food. People were presenting cards to pay for their food, but they also paid something extra in cash. I had used my Amex Card and wondered why they hadn't asked me for the extra cash, as they had others who came in. I moved a little closer to the register area and realized people were paying for their food with SNAP benefit cards (which are not to be used for prepared food). I further realized the extra cash was a fee they were being charged for allowing them to use the SNAP card. Laws broken by both the customers and the establishment.Admittedly, this place isn't located in the most upscale of neighborhoods, but it illustrates the predatory nature of this foreign-run business and its owners.Oh, the food was okay - nothing to make me want to take the drive down there again.

My coleslaw ẁas warm the breading tasted better than fish. The Hushpuppies were thick mush on the inside. They give you some type of sauce that tastes like worstershire sauce. Don't know, I didn't use it, but it couldn't have hurt given the fact I wasted money. My first and last time going here. It was hotter inside than outside the temp was over 90 outside, bombarded with Flys no fans working or air. Sorry and mad at myself, my reg Seafood go to is on vacation. Never more.

Ghetto Seafood Takeout. Wow...where to begin. First full disclosure - I'm Black. Wife and I decided to venture down from the Hillpoint area to give this place a try.We ordered two fish dinners. I paid with my Amex Card. After ordering, I took a look at the seafood display case. Yeah, there's fish in the display case, but...they're dry looking, eyes are sunken. Yeah, it's been a while since they last swam.Took forever for them to cook the dinners, but in the meantime, people were coming in for call in orders. They paid with their EBT cards! Then, they either pulled out cash or paid an additional fee with a debit card. After witnessing five or six of these transactions, I realized what was happening. The EBT cards are not to be used for hot cooked food, so the cash was the payoff for allowing them to use EBT. I don't have to be told that is illegal anyway you look at it. Oh, and the payment is taken before they even cook the order. The other thing was people buying what apparently is a Virginia thing, "fried crabs". My thought, okay if the fish are past optimum, what makes you think those crabs were alive before cooking. Were they last month's or last year's catch? There was also a lot of arguing between patrons and staff. Lot's of "MF's", etc. I gathered that the staff are not the most friendly people in Suffolk, but they need the patrons as much as the patrons need the store."Hurry up and buy"! Those who saw "Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood", know what I'm talking about.Once home, the food was "okay", but again I wondered, "Exactly how long have they had these Croakers?".

I am not going to rate this place any less than four stars, because I do not feel have tried a variety of the options this restaurant has to offer. Besides, the customer service was friendly and I interacted with a patron while I waited for my order, and our interaction was pleasant and informative.I drive by this place quite often, but never know if it's open or not. Well yesterday, I saw cars parked out front and I had time... I pulled right on in. There is another restaurant located next door, but I have yet to see the doors swing open.Nevertheless, I arrived about 3pm give or take a few minutes and two others were already inside.I checked out the menu for several minutes before deciding to order.Luckily an older gentleman was present, I was able to ask him "what's good here" - he likes the fish and mac n cheese. While I was not in the mood for either, I will keep them on the radar on my next visit.Everything is fried here, unless you opt for the crabs or shrimp in which they can be prepared steamed.Well, I always love to try one's crabcake... so I ordered 1 crabcake and I have been longing to try someone's crab egg rolls... so I ordered 1 crab egg roll please. While waiting, I learned about the restaurant's history and other staples in Suffolk. This man was super friendly and even picked up my vibe... "you're not from Suffolk, are you" - no sir. He could tell.Evidently the people from the area can be spotted easily.I waited maybe 5 minutes, and my order was ready. The restaurant has some protocols in place to limit interaction with others and the employees.Which is completely understandable.I ended up trying my food about 20 minutes later. The temp was still warm... a good thing.I bit into the crab roll... I really couldn't tell if it was actually crab or just a regular egg roll. After two bites, maybe three, I determined, this may be crab. Nevertheless, it wasn't too noticeable... not sure if I would try that again. I may have to order a regular one and a crab one to really tell the difference.Onto the crabcake...Well...it definitely has a lot of filler. In this case, I am not surprised by the cost anymore. I thought the price was a steal for a crabcake... but now I see, the price is right. You get what you pay for, but I was hoping for a steal.Overall, I wouldn't count this place out, but next time, I am looking fwd to trying the fish and scallops.Again, everything is fried, so I must be in the mood to try it, because if not I will not be able to give my totally honest review.I so prefer steamed seafood, broiled, blackened even, but I will keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the hours, because they are very limited.Take care of yourself and enjoy life :)
