I hate leaving a review as bad as this one. However, today was the worst experience I have had with fast food in a decade. I arrived and checked in on the app. After waiting 15 minutes I decided to go through the drive through. The girl working was rude. She didn't greet me when I arrived to the window and it felt as if I was a burden to her.
The food was horrible, cold, hard tater tots and very disappointing.

Food wouldn't have been bad if it was right. I ordered Chili Cheees fries and got regular fries(they rang up wrong). Ordered a double burger and got a single. Not to mention I tried ordering on the app that they clearly want you to use because there are only a couple of stalls to begin with. The only decent part was the carhop Kenley dealt with me very professionally.

Circled the building twice and out of all the parking spots there only about 7 of them had the ability to order. Half the parking lot was covered in chairs to block parking spots. Finally drove across the street and placed a mobile order and was lucky enough to find a mobile pickup spot open, the rest were also blocked by chairs. App said the food would be ready for pickup in about 5 mins ( I felt like that was a good, fast time ) but it actually took about 15 minutes ( this felt to long ). Food was good for what it was worth. Didn’t receive everything we ordered however.

50 mins to order and get food with 4 orders in front of me. They made Dairy Queen's service time look like Chick Fil A's!!!!

Wait forever for your food. Sometimes they acknowledge you on the headset most of the times they do not. I've ordered food before to pull around to find out they didn't have the item

Decent food. Some of the staff are not to friendly.
More ordering stalls would be amazing , also if the touch screen worked that would be sweet.
Order was not fixed correctly. No one answers phone. I ordered tomato and extra tomato on snash burger. Got no tomatoes. Ordered and paid extra for cherry slushie with extra fruit only one cherry. Poor customer service

I love this sonic
All Sonic's are not created the same. When people i know from the area was like sonic is the worse burger place, i know why they believe that. The location for this on seems horrible and it's traffic flow seems cumbersome or not well planned. Further, I have visited this particular drive thru with friends, and solo, at least 8 times. Of those times, once did everything come out satisfactory in temperature, look, and taste. These were 100% stick menu items. The last time I went I order a sausage breakfast sandwich. The sausage patty that was in it had been cooked smashed style and didn't cover 3/4 the bread. Then to top it off there was no cheese. Service here has been hit or miss so that's why I put it at the middle of the road in my ratings. If you happen to live near and you direct want Sonic, please report the craptastic service and food when it happens to you. If you aren't from the area.... then please go to another Sonic.
Expensive for a hotdog and burger

I’ve visited the Sonic in Tazewell, Virginia, several times recently, and I’m extremely disappointed to see that they’ve completely removed their carhop service. The last few times I went, they were only operating via the drive-thru—no carhops at all. Honestly, this decision is diabolical. It feels like they’re actively working against the fun, community-driven experience that makes Sonic unique.
This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about community. In Tazewell, Sonic has always been a place where people come to sit, hang out, and enjoy themselves. Now, that experience is being stripped away, and the result is a desolate, unwelcoming atmosphere. This shift isn’t just disappointing; it’s toxic and caustic to a business that should be fostering connections rather than driving customers away.
Sonic has never been about having the best food—it’s about the drive-in experience. If we wanted McDonald’s, we would have gone to McDonald’s. This shift completely defeats the point of their restaurant’s unique structure, and I can’t understand why they would choose to make their business more hostile to customers.
I don’t know if this was a management or corporate decision, but I hope they reconsider. If they don’t, I won’t be visiting again—because, at this rate, I don’t see this location lasting much longer.
