About 1 month ago, we held the rehearsal dinner for our son and now-daughter-in-law at Girasole. Guest count was 47. Lydia was a great source of information and guidance when planning the event and it was all beautiful. The food was of course divine, but the service was what really stood out. The staff did a great job of sensing the timing for the entire dinner and we all had a wonderful time. Thank you so much Lydia and all!

We were one of two tables yet service somehow still seemed a little inattentive and they still required a credit card number to make the reservation. Oddly, our server insisted on ordering the entire order (appetizer, salad, and dinner) all together, stating it was a “rule” in the restaurant. The ossobuco was good. The short rib tasted like pot roast. Maybe we caught them on an off night.

Last night, our party of six had the pleasure of dining at Girasole, an Italian restaurant located in the charming town of The Plains, Virginia. We were celebrating my mother-in-law's retirement, and Girasole proved to be the perfect spot for our special occasion.
The service was absolutely outstanding, deserving a full five stars. Our waitress, Gabriele, went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor made us feel incredibly welcome and well-cared for. She truly contributed to making our celebration memorable.
We indulged in a variety of beverages, including mixed drinks, wine, and beer, all of which were excellent. The appetizers were amazing, setting the stage for an equally impressive main course. Each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented.
One of the highlights of the evening was that Girasole allowed us to bring in a custom cake. They graciously cut and served it as if it were their own, even adding a delightful touch of powdered sugar sprinkle, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated detail.
The restaurant itself has a super quaint and charming atmosphere, perfectly fitting for an Italian eatery. The chic bathroom added to the overall pleasant experience.
Overall, our experience at Girasole was exceptional. From the delicious food to the outstanding service, especially from Gabriele, everything contributed to a memorable celebration. I highly recommend Girasole to anyone looking for a delightful Italian dining experience in The Plains, Virginia.
Atmosphere was nice and cozy, good noise and activity level. Service was a bit underwhelming, went with three teenage kids who were never offered drinks. Our son is a picky eater a just ordered a bowl of plain pasta. He received about 2 oz of pasta and they charged $30. Food over all was good but portions are extremely small. Didn't really do enough for us to make the 40 minute trip from Oakton again.
Great atmosphere and time with the family. Would recommend for smaller dinners.
I'd sell my firstborn child for just half of a slice of their lasagna. Wow.
It’s not clear what you can do or how to get service. We were excited to try this place and love the Plains but were shocked in how we were greeted by what appeared to be the owner. We asked to sit at the bar, which we saw on their website, when we asked to sit there she let us know they only had a service bar. We then asked for a booth and she told us they were full. The entire restaurant was occupied by one table. She was rude and off putting, never going back and can’t recommend.

Very nice Italian restaurant. The outdoor seating area is great. Really nice setup and layout. Food was good and flavors were well balanced. My only complaint is the portion size on the bolognese, it was really small and not indicative of the price of the meal, especially when compared to the portion size of the short rib meal my wife got.

Awesome place! My friend and I sat outside. Perfect night for it. Beautiful atmosphere, food was amazing. I wish I could have added protein to a pasta meal but I choose something else with protein and it was delicious. I wasn’t getting bit outside but my friend was and the restaurant had bug spray. It was such a nice dining experience. Our server was fabulous, she was attentive and informative and kind.

This was my second time visiting Girasole. The first time, the experience was great -- from the food, to the service, it was really nice. The second time, however, was a bit disappointing. Our server was very busy and we had to wait much longer than usual to get drink orders in. We were also told that our entire order had to be given up front, which I don't think we had to do the last time. The appetizers were delicious, however, we all had one of the specials, but only one of us was happy with what we ordered. Hopefully, the last visit was just a fluke, and I'll chalk it up to a busy night. We'll definitely give it another try before deciding whether to write it off our list or not.

Absolutely amazing in every single way! From the charming exterior, to the beautiful interior space. The service is exceptional and the food is delectable. This was the highlight of my trip to the area. I can't recommend Girasole enough.
