Stopped here out of the blue on a road trip from NY to TN and they had the absolute best coffee and treats. So very special!

We love this combination coffee/tea house bicycle shop in The Plains. Lots of drink choices with breakfast available in a relaxed, homey environment. Service was congenial and efficient.

Will drive for a good pour over!!! This place has excellent coffee and tea. The shop is shared with a bike repair and makes for some interesting and fun decor. But first.....the coffee. The Mexican Roast pour over is worth the wait. Smooth, velvet taste. The Earl Gray Lavender Tea where they brew the honey with the tea is magnifique. The aroma is intoxicating and the taste is a treat. The shop was under new ownership, and the food selection was limited, but I have no doubt it will be back up and running with eggcellent choices for all those hard peddling bike riders that need fuel for their adventures. I also enjoyed the local art displayed, as well as the plants for sale. The pay it forward coffee sleeve cork board was heartwarming and I hope they keep that going. I can't wait to come back on my next stay in the area.

To tell the truth

A Celiac's paradise! They are an entirely GF coffee shop in the quaint little town of The Plains, VA. I went on 3/18 and had a delicious blueberry muffin and an iced oat mocha. I strongly recommend!

Was on a road trip to Asheville from VA and made a pit stop into this cool little coffee shop. Was very uniquely designed with bikes and bike parts. They had great coffee, a great staff, and a pay it forward wall. Very cool premise!

Stopped here on our way home from a hike; decided to stop here on the way to/from our next hike in the area. Delicious food, quick service, cool atmosphere. Get the Mexican hot chocolate. And a churro waffle. And whatever my wife had, because she said that was good, too.

Wow, a lot of work needed to make this place better. I’ve lived here over 10 years and I still can’t figure out why people visit this coffee shop. Maybe for the bikes? No where to really sit on a Saturday morning when you have only five seating areas and tons of open flooring. What kind of a coffee shop doesn’t have caramel syrup flavoring? We paid $20 for two small specialty coffees and two muffins. What????? I get the pandemic inflation situation but wow! If you’re in the Plains and want to stop for coffee, pass this place by, trust me. Far better shops available in Haymarket.

A place to stop by for Coffee lover's.As soon as I walked into this place, I loved the atmosphere, and the staff greeted me. And their selections of coffees are fantastic. It's the best place to stop by on a drive through plains or place to unwind.

If you enjoy coffee and bike oil aroma then this is definitely the place for you. Enjoy it because I thought it was awful. It took so long to get a coffee that I could have harvested and roasted the beans myself. It took 12.5 minutes and there were people sat at the table playing chess waiting for their drinks (iced coffee)!!!!! They were already settled when we arrived so goodness knows how long they were waiting. Their kids were almost eligible for college. Rumour has it they were in junior high when they entered the shop…. Two coffees and two muffins …. 18 bucks. We thought it would be good to go into our local community and support small businesses. Starbucks is NOT my favourite place at all but would rather pay their extortionate prices than step foot in an oily smelly bike shop chucked together with a verrrrryyy slllllooooowwww barista. We noticed he liked to talk but obviously has not learnt to multi task. One star was because it was way warmer than tea rooms over the road

Outstanding! The gluten free chili was the best I have ever had, perfect seasoning, slight heat, and flavorful! Love the GF cookies and numerous choices, such as the GF sandwiches. Always a great experience!

We've all got a multi-purpose; quaint getaway that happens to have great coffee. I've found a place that fits that description but I had a pretty good Hot Chocolate. Does that count? This place fixes bikes just like Green Lizard in Herndon but much further out so you start to get the feel of a staycation seeping in... Let's keep on taking karma checks over the next few weeks... Speaking of great karma: great dude manning the counter who kept his grace under fire while a crowd started to build and a young lady (shift manager? owner?) kept checking in with/on him... What surprised me in addition to the grated orange peel and green Cardamom he topped in my cup was the beef stew I had to go along with it. The lean cuts of tender beef were plentiful; the potatoes still had their skin and the broth was light and with a bit of tomato...just the way this writer likes his beef stew. With the exception of the high school girls that afternoon, not sue if this is necessarily a local crowd. I'll go back in the morning to see if there are any farmers or farriers warming up....

Four bad coffee experiences in a row, which is a shame, since I used to love Happy Creek. Worst latte I have ever had, followed by a lavender latte at a later date that was so awful, I tossed the entire drink after one sip. The other two bad experiences were a latte (not quite as bad but too much milk) and a pour over that tasted overly watery. Might be staff turnover, but barista skill levels just aren't cutting it recently. I hate leaving this review, because for years, I was such a fan of this place (the Plains location.) Found it accidentally six years ago, and even though my wife's family lives in Warrenton, the coffee was so good that I religiously drove 25 minutes each way for Happy Creek's espresso and pour overs. Quite literally, I loved the Plains location so much that the engagement pictures with my wife are us sitting in Happy Creek's window sharing pour overs. What happened, y'all? Why did the quality drop off? :(

Five stars for the staff, four stars when the chai lattes taste good, and one star for the owner. The female owner is a nightmare. She's loud, frazzled, and overbearing! It doesn't seem like she lets the completely competent and wonderful staff do their jobs without being in their way. The vibe is muted that's for sure. Not to mention she ALWAYS has her daughter with her. Her daughter rings people up at the register, handles food, and is all over the place. Not professional. Don't even get me started on how she treats the employees and why they ultimately end up quitting... Anyway, I visit frequently and get the same drink. The original ratios/measurements they use are awful (no fault of the staff). I usually get one extra ounce of chai and one of vanilla. I didn't realize that it cost extra for more chai AND extra for vanilla, but the owner made it very loud and clear in front of the busy shop that it does cost extra. Extremely rude and poor customer service. Since she also yelled out in front of everyone, she embarrassed my kids in the process. They didn't understand why she would do that. When I tried the drink that the owner made after chastising me, it was apparent that she watered down the chai even more on purpose. I've never had one that tasted that watery. It was awful. I actually buy the same chai that they use at the shop from The Tea Smith. I brew it, make the same vanilla syrup, and make the latte at home. I visit the shop mainly for the staff. I am aware of how much everything costs. $6 for a watered down drink is outrageous, so the least they can do is not use water (because that's how the owners say to make it) and only use the Food Lion (!!!!!) milk added to the chai and vanilla. Let's just say that you want an extra ounce of vanilla and chai, you'd be paying $7.20 for one drink. Not worth it! The staff at this location are amazing and truly care about their customers. Not to mention the baker does a great job! I'd love to support this business, but with a rude owner like that coupled with the fact that she's not good at making drinks, no thank you.
