Hunter's Head Tavern

Charming historic home in beautiful Hunt Country. Couples out for a casual night and expected superb food and service. Service was as expected, polite, pleasant and timely. Malbec was perfect. Foods ordered: Pot Pie, Risotto, Seared Trout and Steak Frites. The pot pie was flavorful but the coconut was unexpected - if the description had included coconut, we would have made another choice. The risootto was an ugly, baby-foodish glob on a plate. No discernable risotto could be found and the sensation in the mouth was as bad as the plate looked. Mushy, unappetizing. The blackened trout was well prepared and flavorful. Steak frites were tasty, but meat not trimmed well and some gristle made pieces unedible. The fries that accompanied were end pieces from potatoes, leftover from mashed potatoe prep? The prices were high, common for this area. Servings were plentiful but the food quality left us with "glad we went but won't go back".

Hunter's Head Tavern was amazing! I went to celebrate my birthday and loved the English Pub vibes in the restaurant. The staff were extremely courteous and accommodating, the food was HOT, seasoned well, and just overall delicious. Bonus points for using locally sourced ingredients when able. Definitely planning to come back!

My group left another nearby restaurant, as we weren't receiving quality service there and we're being treated unfairly, so to UPGRADE to Hunter's Head Tavern, was a blessing in disguise. Totally saved my birthday luncheon with my ladies! Thank you so much!

My husband and I absolutely adore this restaurant. The food and service has been wonderful every time. We love the atmosphere and it's such a comforting place to go to after a long hike.

We recently held an event here and it was fabulous. The servers were accommodating, the food came out at a timely manner, and the space was prepared just how we needed it to be!

We'll be back :)

It's always good to get to eat at a restaurant that has locally produced meats. It's a little expensive for what you get. But if you're in upperville, it's a blessing to be able to stop at this place.

Very very impressed with this tavern. As a Brit, I have high standard for fish chips and organic produce, and great ales, this was like being back in the Yorkshire dales - superb!!!

We order a whole lot of food from Hunters Head to cater our housewarming party. WOW!!! The food was amazing and we received compliments from every guest. The staff there rocks and worked really hard to make this a tremendous success for us. Thank you Hunters Head and staff…..amazing job!!

My husband and I hosted our wedding reception at Hunters Head this weekend and it was an incredible evening. The food was delicious and the staff were so kind and accommodating. The outdoor patio was perfect for a large dinner party. We couldn’t be happier with how everything went and are so grateful we chose Hunters Head for our special day! We look forward to returning on anniversaries to come.

What a great find. Food was incredible. Service spot on. Lovely place in every way. Would def recommend. Made our last night in Virginia memorable. The strawberry and spinach salad with shrimps is something special.

Hunter’s Head was absolutely amazing!! I went here for an anniversary dinner with my Boyfriend and it was just so delicious. We sat in the patio and it was so romantic! Our wait staff was also so kind. We already want to come back :)) We highly recommend the steak frites as it is some of the best french fries we have ever tasted! Also, the chocolate cake is fantastic. Our favorite thing is that all the food is locally sourced from their farm just down the road!

It's just a good place to share a meal at a reasonable price. If you are on the fence about where to spend time with your wife (who should be the only one on the kiss cam). Or a friend over a pint, get off the fence and give Hunter's Head a few minutes of your time.
