Made us wait for over 30 minutes while people who came after got served in 5 minutes. Dosa was overdone - charred - tasted like cardboard. Sambar had no taste. A terrible experience. A place to avoid

Amma Vegetarian Kitchen is a cozy spot with fresh, flavorful vegetarian and vegan dishes. The curries and wraps are packed with spice and taste, and the portions are generous. It’s casual, welcoming, and a great place to enjoy hearty, satisfying plant-based meals.

Amma’s Kitchen in Vienna, VA is a great spot if you’re craving home-style South Indian vegetarian food without breaking the bank. The dosas here are crispy and flavorful—hard to find anywhere else in town for the same price! The menu features a ton of classics, like masala dosa, rava dosa, chole bhatura, and idli, all served up with tasty coconut chutney and tangy sambar. Everything’s super casual, from the ordering at the counter to eating on paper plates, so it’s perfect for a quick, no-fuss lunch or dinner with friends or family. Some folks love how fast the service is and the friendly cashier, while others wish the food were a bit hotter or came out faster, especially during busy hours. The rava dosa gets high marks for that lacey, crispy texture, and the sweets like rasmalai are a nice touch to finish off your meal. Prices are low enough to let you try a bunch of dishes, so definitely come hungry!

Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered Puri Bhaji and Rawa plain dosa. The first was bland and the latter was uncooked. When we asked for crispy dosa, it was burnt. The sambhar was pungent and chutney also did not taste right. Went there after checking good reviews, not worth the drive and money.

I am not a vegeterian but tried this place out for work lunch. One of my colleague ordered foods for the group since it was my first time trying southern indian food.
Most foods were flavorful. My favorite dish was dosas. You dip it into a soup/sauce and they go really well together. It’s a bit exotic but think of it like you dip a piece of bread into a bowl of tomato basil soup. I liked it.
Service was ok. It’s a self-serve, order at the counter type restaurant; however, staffs were not friendly or didn’t seem happy to answer any questions.
Atmosphere is ok. It has plenty of parking spaces and lots of sits. They do get filled up quickly during lunch hours.
Overall, it was a great experience to try southern indian food. I can come back here to have dosas again.
