Brisket: very dryRibs: very dry and incredibly salty, close to inedibleSausage: meat itself is weirdly mushy and flavorless, spices are ok, heavy on the fennelHave not tried his old restaurant in Alexandria so can’t compare, but this was not good.
Man, This place was a total let down. We actually thought it was closed when we drove by but it was just completely empty. We paid $50 for a pound of brisket, small slaw, and loaded fries. The brisket was terrible. First off they did not offer the choice between lean and moist. They only had lean and it was totally dry. I could tell it was not fresh and was probably cooked a few days before. Same thing for the pulled pork. The slaw was grocery store quality. The fries were the only thing that tasted good and fresh. Myron Mixon is a BBQ legend and I was embarrassed for him because the food was so bad.

Sad to see the move out to the new location from Old Town wasn’t able to revive the restaurant. I used to love going to get BBQ at their Alexandria location but it slowly went down hill. The BBQ is a shadow of what it used to be. The wings are still edible and that was the only saving grace for me. Did not enjoy my dining experience or the food here. And the prices are insult to injury.

Hesitated to try this place because of some of the reviews. Our second time dining here and both times it was pretty good. The pulled pork was moist and the fries, loaded potato salad and slaw were good. Service was quick. The hog sauce is kind of like a Kansas City sauce. There are also mustard and vinegar sauces.Toasting the buns for the sandwiches would be a welcome addition. Our two lunches of a sandwich and side each and a tip was only $30.I recommend this place for a quick BBQ meal.

If you’re expecting fresh BBQ lower your hopes because this is at least 4-5 day old meats and sides.
Decent pulled pork sandwich. Not any taste of the pit but still a better than average pork sandwich. Mama’s slaw was not the usual bland slaw but had some flavor. Probably go back and try other options next time but not good enough to go out of the way for.

Awful everything. The only reason it has 4 stars is because it's riding on the reviews of the previous BBQ restaurant, District BBQ, that used to be in the same spot before covid.

Best collards I have eaten at a restaurant! Portions are generous, the food is quite good, the staff helpful, and the venue is clean and bright. Highly recommend!

1/15/24Level I... Politeness/Greetings:"Mellow greetings and salutations."There was only one person who did this. His personality at the time I met him reminded me of Ed from Good Burger. I wonder if he was acting like Ed on purpose?Nevertheless, the other two people looked like management. They were gloomy. The happy go lucky cashier took down my order for The Mac&Cheese. BBQ wasn't on my mind and neither anything else except macaroni and cheese.Level II: Food/SanitationUpon looking at the macaroni and cheese, I started getting a bad feeling. The Mac&Cheese looked like it had been sitting around for to long. This bad feeling only doubled when I saw one of the managers eating food right over the cutting board where food is prepared. While it might not be a malicious act, I do feel there is a better place to eat your food. Eating on the cutting board area is morally unacceptable.I decided to get something to drink just incase the macaroni wasn't good. I am glad I did, because the macaroni and cheese wasn't good. The Mac&Cheese was extremely bland and down right atrocious. I didn't make it past one bite. I hope the raccoons can enjoy this food, because I couldn't.The orange soda worked its magic and got rid presence of the macaroni and cheese in my mouth.I saw the soda machine still wasn't fixed with standard plastic labels for the drink names. Just white paper with hard to read names on the paper. A black sharpie marker would be advised. The bathrooms are segregated by gender. Personally this is a bad waste of space. Both bathrooms should be labeled as unisex so anyone can use them. The bathroom for men looked the same as the last time I saw it. Not overly dirty, but Gunnery Sergeant Hartman wouldn't approve of the setup either.Just before leaving, three people came in and looked around. I don't know if they bought anything, but I know they saw one of the manager eating his food right on the cutting board as I had.The looks on they're face said..."That Don't Impress Me Much..."Level III: Overall ThoughtsPersonally, I don't see this business lasting very long unless things change for the better. Seeing this store on a daily basis, I see few people going inside here. If this place does succeed, great. In the meantime, I won't be ordering macaroni and cheese again. Maybe the next customer will have a better experience than I did in this restaurant. If you want to buy Myron books, spices and maybe grilling tools, they are located near the bathrooms. The store hasn't changed much since the previous store was a BBQ place. New equipment, and a new wall was put up. Pictures or something else should be on the walks for decorations.Overall the restaurant to me is screaming "Help Me." I hope "The Help" comes.
