I have been to Joon several times and have conflicted feelings about it.
Some of the less some common Persian or “Persian-fusion” dishes are genuinely inventive and tasty, like the meatballs and pistachio soup.
On the other hand, the kabobs are disappointing - bland meat, soggy tahdig and small portions given the sky high prices. The desserts - the Persian ice cream and “love cake” - were really bad. The “love cake” tastes like a 3 day old cardamon bun from a grocery store.
Service is friendly but the staff is generally not very experienced and there are frequent small issues, like servers bringing over dishes that we had not ordered. The price to portion size ratio is also generally not good.
Overall, a decent place to visit on occasion, especially if there special deals and if one focuses on some of the more innovative dishes on offer.

Mixed review. 3.5 out of 5. Joon was highly recommended by friends and we are fans of middle eastern food - so we were excited to try it. However, overall a disappointing experience. Joon has great potential but execution is making it a mixed outcome. Food was creative and unique flavors - but execution was poor in 4 out of 5 dishes. Served lukewarm and like it had been sitting for a long time. The hummus and lamb shoulder was excellent and well prepared. Service was similar - friendly and trying but just not professional and not at the level of the restaurant price. Atmosphere also a bit odd - not cozy or upscale feeling for Saturday night. A bit corporate and mid level vibe - not what we were expecting. Felt like everything was rushed, mixed quality and low levels of training for staff. Overall, lots of potential and creative menu - but execution was poor. May try again in future… perhaps just an off night, but disappointing experience.

I really liked it here. Everything was tasty which is rare in Persian Cuisine restaurants.

The food was delicious. The only flaw was the server. The man that brought us our food was wearing a leather or plastic apron that made me think he was a pot washer or something. And when be brought us our food his fingers were on touching part of the surface of the plate where the food is and I noticed that he had dirty deep underneath his fingernails. My mom got sick and that’s probably why. The quality of the food was excellent though and the flavors and spices were among the best. I’ll be back but I’ll watch the waiter’s hands more carefully next time.

Joon is a beautiful Persian restaurant, and from the moment we walked in, we truly felt welcomed and taken care of. The space is elegant yet inviting, with a large bar area and plenty of seating. The servers are extremely friendly and attentive, making it very clear that your comfort and experience matter.
We ordered a mixed platter featuring a variety of Persian kebabs — including beef, chicken, koobideh, and barg — and everything was well prepared and flavorful. One of the highlights was the rice selection. They offer several options, which is such a nice touch: classic saffron rice, herb rice, fava bean rice, and another variety that I can’t quite recall. Each one was delicious and complemented the kebabs perfectly.
The pistachio soup was outstanding and easily a 9/10. Made with a chicken-broth base, it was topped with pistachios, berries, and crispy fried onions — rich, comforting, and beautifully balanced. We also tried the hummus with lamb, which I’d rate 7/10. The hummus itself was great, but the lamb had a slight smell that took away from the dish.
To finish, we ordered their Persian saffron black tea, which was excellent and the perfect way to wind down after such a satisfying meal.
Overall, June delivers great food, warm hospitality, and a refined yet comfortable dining experience. It was a wonderful visit, and I’d definitely be happy to return.

Went for lunch over the past weekend, we did not have a reservation & was seated timely.
The atmosphere is nice and the food was OK. Did not think it was anything special to warrant the price point, but we are talking about Tysons. The female bathroom needed attention badly….it was quite gross. I was looking forward to their dessert, Persian Love cake from the reviews. However, what we were served looked nothing like the reviews & it was quite dry.
They offer valet parking which is definitely a plus!

This was our first visit to this Persian restaurant, and we came with family—such a wonderful experience. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal together. The food was excellent, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We also really appreciated the complimentary valet, which made the visit even more convenient. We tried lamb pistachio balls, Harissa chicken, Lamb shoulder with veggies along with chelow rice. All dishes were amazing and special thanks to our waiter Paul who took good care of us.

As someone with a background serving in high-caliber restaurants, I was shocked by the lack of basic hospitality at Joon. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday with my pregnant wife and requested to order her main course early. Our server, Omar, flatly refused, stating he was only doing 'cocktails and small plates' at the moment. In any true fine-dining establishment—especially those I’ve worked in the past—the guest's needs (especially health-related ones) dictate the pace, not the server’s convenience. Combined with overpriced, small portions, the 'nice atmosphere' doesn't save the experience. If you want professional service and better value, try another Persian restaurant in town

I recently had lunch at Joon restaurant and ordered the branzino fish. It was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and fresh. The seasoning was balanced, and the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend trying it!

All of the food tasted so fresh and delicious. We tried their specialty rice with the kabobs, and they complemented everything so well. The harissa prawns were to die for. Loved the lamb hummus. After some incredible plates, we had their amazing desserts. Apple tart tatin with the cardamom ice cream was a 10/10. Also the space - GORGEOUS. Loved the blue tile color scheme. Service was also great and kind; very personable without being pretentious. Will def be back!

4 adults and a child. $200 total. We shared a few items. Service from the start was poor. We asked for a table out of the way in a corner so our child and fellow diners would be comfortable. This request was not honored and we were not asked if we were comfortable.
We had to wait 15 minutes to be able to order water.
Food arrived. Portions were small. Heavy on the low cost commodities like rice and potatoes and light on the protein.
The cherry on top was that we had to get the child seat switched out twice because the strap was broken on multiple seats. If the seat can’t be operated as intended it should be taken out of service. The seat is ultimately a safety device for parents. Although I understand young staff and management could overlook something like this.
PS - the entrance to the restaurant is not wide enough for multiple people to walk through. Someone crammed a couch and two chairs and a coffee table in an area that should be used for customer circulation.
TLDR - family unfriendly restaurant with overpriced food provides poor customer service.
