LOVE the food and the atmosphere here. Great place to meet up with friends or family for a quick bite/drink.
I’ve loved Rice Culture since back when they were at the ghost kitchen in Chantilly. Their taiyaki are really good, soft, warm, and fresh. The ice cream flavors are also really good. Corn was their best flavor though and I can’t wait for them to bring it back. Highly recommend this place for your dessert needs.

They are so cute and they have great unique flavors of ice cream. The second time I’ve had Thai tea in soft serve form and it was great.

Lots of choices for deserts. I got the Nutella Taiyaki and it was nice and warm! It was super fun to eat. I will say it’s a bit expensive, $6 for one. But I think it’s a fun place to check out if you’re in the area and looking for unique desserts or a sweet snack. Service was good, the man was very nice who took my order. A little bit slow service but it was only him working for from what I could see.
Was first introduced to Rice Culture via Pull-A-Plane a few years ago, where they were a vendor. Their taiyaki then were made fresh and were filled to the brim with different flavors. It was a worthwhile treat for sure! Anytime we went to any NoVA event, we always checked to see if they were vending.
And now that they have a store front? Still as amazing as ever! They also expanded their menu to include ice creams, drinks, and other desserts. One of my new favorites is the Vietnamese coffee soft serve- it's legit, packing quite the coffee punch. Those working were also very attentive and knowledgeable when answering my questions involving allergens. If you have a sweet tooth and are in the area, please please PLEASE check them out!
Dietary restrictions: While they do have nut free options, they cannot guarantee no cross contamination will occur. If you have a severe nut allergy, I would proceed with caution.

I’d love to drop a great feedback on the vegan ube ice cream!!! I’m huge ube lover and it’s so hard to locate vegan ube ice cream in the area. When I first found out this shop serves the vegan ube ice cream, I was THRILLED and had no hesitation to stop by. Man, vegan ube ice cream is DELICIOUS! Hope it becomes permanent on the menu for non-dairy customers who loves ube like me. I’ll definitely keep coming back for it and not just that, vegan ube rice pudding, too!!! They both are my favorites.

We ordered the blueberry and Vietnamese coffee soft serve with the taiwaki fish-shaped waffles (vanilla custard and red bean filling) that was good. I love Vietnamese coffee but there was an unusual bitterness in this ice cream, artificially speaking, an added element to this coffee flavor that just didn't belong there.

Taiyaki was made uncooked. I threw it away because of the coldness and flour not cooked throughout. Vegan U e with Vietnamese coffee is a good flavor combo.

My first visit today. I've never been to this part of Vienna. It's in an interesting area with a Harris Teeter, apartments or condos and restaurants on the ground floor. Also next to a Metro station. Looks like a great place if you're young and single. Anyhow, I couldn't decided on what flavor Taiyaki to get so ordered a six pack. I've never had a fresh made Taiyaki before, they're amazing! I especially love their seasonal pumpkin flavor. Definitely will be back for more.

Pros: Cute atmosphere, prices are fair
Cons: Terrible taiyaki
This is "Taiyaki" if you've never had it before or ever visited Japan.
The number one allure for me here, and what's pushed as the main product is the Taiyaki. So I was completely surprised when it was absolutely terrible. The batter's texture and flavor reminded me of the awful free waffle batter that some cheap motels offer at their breakfast.
Taiyaki should not be using pancake or waffle batter. I'm not sure if this is a cost cutting measure.
Typically taiyaki is supposed to be made fresh and made to order. Theirs is not. They make bulk in advance and keep them in warmers. This diminishes the quality.
Several times, I saw customers ask that their taiyaki be warmed up after realizing theirs wasn't very warm.
To test their fresh vs "stored" quality, I ordered one that was not available immediately. Even when fresh, their taiyaki was not good. My group was very dissappointed.

The soft serves and taiyaki are really delicious. I enjoyed the halo halo also, but I'm docking a star because it was almost 50% ice.

Don’t understand the hype. It was mediocre and overpriced! If you like to snap for instagram go for it!

Ice Cream is good, but they gip you on it. When they prepare the soft serve, they start pumping the ice cream around the inside of the cup leaving a big hole in the middle when they reach the top. We ordered 4 and all of them had a big gaping hole when you scoop off the top. As expensive as that ice cream is, they really should be filing it completely.
Also, what's with the name? There's nothing on their menu that would warrant their place to be named "Rice Culture". For the longest time I thought the place was a savory joint that sold rice dishes. lol
