Going from metropolitan to Smallville USA has been a HUGE transition-it has been tough NOT being able to find 'good food' options - this isn't pricey - this is what you get when you spend - Excellent food - Excellent service - I am a repeat offender here (when I feel like being around people) - Thank you for D&P for being here, you folks are doing a GREAT job!!!

I tried messaging the restaurant as well as emailing them before posting a bad review to give them an opportunity to respond, but it's been 10 days and still no response. On Feb 19 at about 630 me, my husband and our 22 year old son had dinner at Denim and Pearls. We sat in the basement and as usual there were gnats flying around our drinks shortly after getting them. We ordered the fondu, my husband and son shared the mussels with white wine garlic sauce. They both ordered the ribeye special, and I ordered the butternut squash rigatoni (I don't eat meat). We all enjoyed our food for the most part, my husband noted that the potatoes with the spinach mixed seemed very greasy or oily and he removed the spinach from the mixture and put it to the side of his plate. My husband and son ate about 3/4 of their ribeye each and we took the leftovers to go. Our bill was ~$250, we put down $300 cash for the three of us. At about 1am, my husband got up and was violently ill. He couldn't keep anything down. My son woke up at about 6 am with the same. Both weren't able to keep even liquids down for the first 24 hours, and still felt sick for several days after. Since I was fine, and I ate everything separate from them, we can only assume that they got food poisoning from either the muscles or the batch of ribeye that they both ate last night. We also had an incident about three months ago when we visited this restaurant that we brought up to our server and again no one seemed to care. My husband had a medium length blonde hair in his fettuccine alfredo When we told our server (and showed her), she told the manager (who didn't even come by the table), they took the meal off of the bill and went on with their night nothing more. Of course I also lost my appetite and didn't finish my food either. We wasted about $200 that night, too. We didn't visit the restaurant in a couple of months because my husband couldn't bring himself to want to give it another try because of the hair incident until I convinced him to try again on the 19th. We don't have many places to choose from in Warrenton that we'd consider to be the environment that we prefer. With the constant gnats floating around when we are trying to eat, the hair in the food and now the food poisoning, the seemingly higher priced food in the area, there seems to be a lack of concern by those running the restaurant. We enjoy good food, good drinks and a nice environment and don't mind paying for it. But I don't know how long it will be until we can return if at all. The lack of response to both of my attempts at contacting someone from the restaurant is quite telling.

Cool place in the old town part of Warrenton. We stopped in and while I wasn't hungry, I couldn't pass up the fresh mussels, especially on a Monday. The other people with me had a burger and a steak and cheese; both looked great and they said they were really good. The service was great, our server paid attention to when we needed something but wasn't over doing it- perfect balance. While I wasn't drinking today, they had a lot of good choices from local craft beer to good bourbons with a good wine selection in-between. I'll definitely be going back!

Great food and atmosphere. A must if you’re not too far from Warrenton.

Food barely had flavor for several dishes - adding even salt would have helped some. We order their braise beef dish - $25 for a dish that was essentially tasteless beef stroganoff. Don't be fooled by their actually being beef short ribs - it is a couple of small bites of shredded beef, immersed in 90% pasta with a tasteless cream demi sauce. Their creme Brule had a terrible odor which impacted the taste. Overall, Food quality was terrible for what you paid.

Last night we learned what happens when you stay at a table at this restaurant for over 90 minutes, and it was not pleasant. My husband and I were dining out with a friend, who suggested we try Denim & Pearls. I’ll preface this by saying that I rarely write reviews and tend to be really non-confrontational and more of a “people pleaser,” but this experience was so over the top that I felt I had to write about it.I’ve never been to a restaurant with a limit on how long customers are able to stay. I thought it was kind of odd, but I was glad they let us know beforehand. We arrived at the restaurant 5-10 minutes before our 5pm reservation. Not wanting to take up a table before our friend arrived, we sat at the bar for a drink. At 5:03 I noticed the volume was picking up, so I went to the hostess to let her know we were there so she could tell us where she’d prefer us to wait. She said our table was sitting open, so we might as well sit down, which we did. My husband paid the bar tab and our friend arrived minutes later. We had an excellent meal. Our waiter was super friendly and the food was good (note that the one service star was for what happened at the end of our meal, not for the service he gave us). We liked the ambiance. As we ate, we began making plans to return in a few weeks with another couple who are mutual friends. We finished our meal, too full to order dessert when our waiter asked if we would like to order any. We promptly asked for and paid the check.Moments later, our friend was still finishing his last sips of wine when an older woman with long, curly hair approached our table. We had not met her before and she didn’t introduce herself. She reminded us that the restaurant’s policy was that we were allowed 90 minutes at the table, and angrily told us we’d been sitting there for 2 hours while another family waited for our table. It was delivered without any type of warning and in a, “You should be ashamed of yourselves” type of way, as though we had knowingly been taking advantage of the restaurant and its other customers. In truth, we were having such a good time at the restaurant that we lost track of time. It was a completely innocent mistake. My husband and I were both mortified that we’d lost track of time and we apologized. All three of us got up, put on our coats and walked down and around the block to our car. Imagine our surprise when we looked at the clock and it was only 6:47pm. We’d been accused of sitting at the table for 2 hours when in fact we’d only been in the restaurant for 5-10 minutes past our allotted table time. While I understand that the restaurant’s policy is to give customers 90 minutes at the tables, there are myriad ways they could have conveyed the time to us in a manner that was not hostile and gave us the benefit of the doubt. The experience was pretty upsetting and ruined what would have been a really pleasant evening at a restaurant we would have returned to. Instead it turned into one of those stories we’ll probably be telling our friends 5 years from now, as the rudest service we’ve ever experienced. What a complete bummer.

I took advantage of mussels Monday. You have a choice of four different selections, two of which became immediate favorites of mine.

Went for Restaurant Week 2024.Had sirloin medallions x2, 1 order of the crab cakes and two orders off regular menu. The two orders off of menu they were amazing- butternut squash risotto and short rib pasta.Crab cakes were just OK, the two orders of beef were not up to par for what D&P usually puts out of the kitchen. My three pieces were not chewable at all. Two of the three of my friend’s meal were passable. Vegetables-parsnip purée and kale were amazing!! In saying all this, the phenomenal waitress noticed I didn’t want to box up my leftover “meat” and we shared it just wasn’t good. It was taken off my bill and that was that.On service- she was attentive and perfection at every phase of our meal.Desserts were great the bread pudding, we found heavy and more cake like, but moist. Sorbet was fantastic. Crème brûlée with chocolate on the bottom was a nice twist. The beignets were the hit of the night. Will we be back for sure, but expected a little better for Restaurant Week.
