Hire them! Hands down, some of the best smoked meat we’ve ever had! They catered our wedding over the weekend and everything was delicious! So many of our guests asked where the food was from and we also heard many say it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. The staff was great, and Josh was extremely helpful and very responsive whenever we had any questions. We knew he was our guy when Josh brought us into his home on a Sunday morning for a tasting. Simply amazing is all we can say! The left overs, taste just as good too!

We had Valley Pig cater my son’s rehearsal dinner at Shenandoah Woods wedding venue. They did a fantastic job! Josh is easy to work with and the BBQ was delicious. Nice smoky flavor throughout the pork, brisket and chicken, and don’t forget the macaroni & cheese. We got rave reviews from our guest. Highly recommend this company!

We used Valley Pig Pickin for our wedding caterer recently. They were so easy to work with, and the food was absolutely spectacular, and the rates very reasonable - we tried a large number of BBQ vendors in the area but none smoked on site like Valley Pig. We got brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. Josh worked with us on crafting a custom menu and the food was absolutely fantastic. Every guest commented that it was the best wedding food they'd had!

As a wedding planner, it was wonderful communicating with Joshua in advance of a client's welcome dinner featuring VPP catering! Josh was quick to respond, offer great insight based on his teams' set-up and service as to how to best layout their meal prep and service station and even did a site visit to the venue to ensure all needs were supplied. On event date, Josh and his team were incredibly kid and professional, and guests raved and raved about how wonderful and delicious the food was! I would highly recommend VPP to anyone interested in a fabulously catered event, and look forward to working with Josh and his team again!

The Willows At Meadow Branch rates Valley Pig Pickin high stars. We hired for our 24th Annual Pig roast and they did an outstanding job! Roasted pig arrived in roaster, nice presentation, and it was so moist and tons of flavor. I recommend Valley Pig Pickin and we are certainly using them again! They will be our guy for future pig roast and parties! Thank you for all your help!

We hired Valley Pig Pickin' for our wedding and we could not have been happier with our decision! The food, the service, and the professionalism was all top tier.We wanted food that fit our budget but also felt festive enough for a wedding dinner and Josh and his wife Meredith did not disappoint! From the start Josh was super flexible and open to creating a menu that worked for our event--including researching and pricing out some of the dishes and meats I wanted that they didn't offer. In the end, our guests raved about the food and the service all night long and into the next day! The energy and love they put into their food and their work really shines through. We would hire them again in a heartbeat <3

This is our second time working with Josh at Valley Pig. We hosted our original event in 2019 and immediately booked him for a second event in 2020. Well, COVID changed our plans for 2020! Josh continued to work with us over the last three years to accommodate rescheduling our event. We finally had the time last week and everything was as perfect as it was the first time. The brisket, pork, ribs, and smoked turkey were fabulous! And the sides…the Cole slaw and potato salad were a hit at both events. Not to mention, Josh and his wife are the nicest people to work with. I recommend Valley Pig Pickin’ for your next event. You won’t be disappointed!!

This was regarding a smoker rental, not catering. The smoker was defective. First rule of cooking a pig is “low and slow”. The smokers thermostat was more than 100 degrees off. As a result, our 8 hour low and slow pig roast was done in 3 hours. We tried to recover and move forward the picnic timetable but the pig, which cost less than the smoker rental, was pretty bad - dry and tough.Josh was nice enough to give support and advice once we realized the problem, but the support was mostly “looks fine”. There was no offer to reduce the rental cost, so hard to give more stars than this. Having a stressful afternoon apologizing for the equipment failure was not great.Gave an extra star for advice at time of rental and willingness to provide support.If you do rent, use and external thermometer throughout the cook job.

I hired them for my wedding. There is nothing like off the smoker/grill right to the plate food and they delivered as a premium product. My guests were extremely impressed with the flavor and would recommend the Mac n cheese with pulled pork as highlights although we did a spread and the off the grill items had incredible smoked flavor.

Valley Pig catered my daughter’s wedding. The venue was at a rustic venue in Luray and the smell of smoked brisket and chicken perfumed the air. The meal was delicious. Our guests loved the food - the smoked Mac n cheese was excellent.

I recently hired Valley Pig Pickin' for my fiances 40th birthday. They were nothing but, exceptional from start to finish. Communication is prompt and concise, they arrived right on time, were wonderful to us and our guests, and left everything neat and tidy when they left. Bennett was our pit master and while we'd never met from the minute we first started talking he felt like an old friend. It was a pleasure to have him be a part of the party and our guests loved him. The food - not just the pig but, all of the food was amazing. Best pork I've ever tasted; the sides including beans, mac-n-cheese, coleslaw, and collards were exceptional. We will definitely hire them again and would love to have Bennett be the pit master again. Thank you Valley Pig Pickin'!
