Very cool home circa 1730 that has been converted into a coffee shop. Breakfast and lunch are available as well. Very cool place!

They have the best coffee only outdone by their location. Quiet, nestled in antiquity, transporting you back to simpler times. We’ve come dozens of times, it’s our favorite place in the greater Newport News/Yorktown region.

Mobjack has been one of my most favorite respites the past several years, serving outstanding coffee, delicious pastries & offering a unique & welcoming ambiance. We always engage with staff & have always had positive experiences. Today my husband & I arrived for a much anticipated kid free date to enjoy our favorite coffee together. While there were patrons seated upstairs, it didn’t seem particularly busy at 1:30pm on this Friday afternoon. We placed our orders & went upstairs to await my espresso drink order. My husband was given a cup of coffee, literally the dregs of the pot being tipped up to try & fill the cup- no surprise, the quality was not up to standard & tasted old & bitter. He opted to wait for my order to arrive & then ask for a fresh cup, not drinking his cup. We waited upstairs for almost 20 mins, still awaiting my iced latte order when he finally went downstairs to enquire if he could get a fresh cup of coffee. He was told by the young lady/cashier that no fresh coffee was available so offered to make something else. While my husband appreciated the espresso, he had looked forward to a cup of freshly brewed dark roast coffee (his favorite) so this was a disappointment. My drink finally arrived after a 25 min wait (no apology or explanation was given for the extended delay)- the oat milk wasn’t cold (I ordered iced) so my drink was tepid, despite some ice & not enjoyable. This was all just a huge disappointment. We will come back but because we have been loyal patrons, sharing our love of Mobjack with friends & strangers we meet across VA & bringing our out of town family to visit, we wanted management to be aware. If this had been our 1st experience, we would never return & been left with a very negative experience. We look forward to better experiences ahead!

cool building
Meeting a friend for coffee on a recent morning, I wanted something different not the national chain experience. So to google maps I go coffee shops Yorktown VA. And I’m pleasantly surprised with Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters so I share the location with my friend and plans are made for coffee the next morning.
All I can say is, I’ll have to return when I have a full day. Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters is housed in a historic building on the Yorktown Battlefield so if you’re a history buff or American Revolutionary War aficionado plan wisely.
However back to Mobjack Bay CR
They have a wonderful selection of coffees and a house roaster. They were not roasting the morning I was there, but I’m certain it is heavenly for any coffee lovers to walk through the compact coffee shop as the coffee beans scent the entire building. Along with the coffees, a selection of teas, and cold drinks are available and a display case of beautiful backed pastries. A petite light menu is also available. In the roaster room and throughout the first floor are many gift items available for purchase. Seating is upstairs or outside taking advantage of every single space available. The outside space is to the sidesnd rear of the building, under a lovely little grove of shade trees. So if you want a little more of a destination maybe the perfect place for a small group of friends who are looking for an interesting place to have a fun afternoon of coffee and a game of cards or the perfect backdrop to enjoy a game or two of chess or checkers and a nice beverage. Try Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters and stroll through some of early American, and Virginia history.
What an adorable coffee shop! Buildinh built early 1700s. Not only was this a cute vibe, but the coffee was awesome! Had an iced mocha that was smooth and just the right chocolate flavor.

If you like coffee and a little bit of history this was a really cool find. We stumbled upon this coffee shop while walking back to our car from the beach. Old historic building. Staff was nice, coffee was good, and fun to explore upstairs and around outside. If in area would recommend walking to this place. Had the latte and it was tasty.

What a great place! Each time we're in the area, we make a trip to have lunch, grab a cup of coffee and leave with several bags for brewing at home. The food is great and the location is so quaint.
