We arrived with a party of 10 and were seated fairly quickly. With larger parties, you expect things to be a bit slow. But not as slow as the service we received. Steaks were overcooked and had to be sent back. The automatic 18% gratuity is expected. But not the additional 4% appreciation fee. They offer 20% off canned beer to go when added to the dinner bill. You end up paying extra for the canned drinks with the 22% in automatic gratuity. Especially when they only discount the cans to 10%.

The food is the problem. Love the beer, vibe, service, really everything except the food is awesome and Ive been here to eat many times. Over priced and average (at best) in terms of what comes out of that kitchen. Please please please lean into what you are good at and stop with the “pasta special” and $17 sausage.

Junk fee! There’s a 4% surcharge that’s gonna be on your bill. They charge a “kitchen fee”. It includes your drinks including your to go beer. Feels like a scam. I’m not coming back
Yesterday evening my partner, Matt and I decided to head over to Black Flannel for a craft libation and meal. We decided we’d sit at the bar before we arrived knowing it would likely be busy on a warm Friday evening.
Upon arrival we found two seats at the bar and sat down. No one greeted us (no big deal as they were busy). There were two bartenders working the bar; we grabbed the QR quote off the menu and started to mull over what we wanted. A few moments passed, still no greeting, no water dropped off and no acknowledgment we were there. Matt and the bartender on our side of the counter made eye contact several times and he even attempted to wave down the server to be ignored. We decided to patiently wait, as I too work in customer service. The bartender came over to the patrons sitting immediately to out left and took their food order (this is easily after 10 minutes of no acknowledgment) and still did not attempt to greet us or thank us for our patience. Not wanting to cause a scene we got up and departed. Matt politely spoke to the hostess at the front door and explained what happened and what we would not be returning.
Black Flannel, please do better. Being busy is okay and in fact makes our hearts happy that you’re booming and doing well, but please acknowledge customers. We had no problem waiting for an additional 10 minutes had someone simply greet us, bring us a glass of water and let us know you were busy and would be with us when you had time, instead, we watched the bartender jerk around behind the counter when he could have been more attentive to all your patrons that he was supposed to be taking care of.
I can assure you, we will not be back. As locals we’re happy to support other locally owned establishments.

Nobody stops you at the door to enforce any 'Black Flannel Only' dress code because there's no such thing here, so come as you are. Hang out in the back biergarten, front patio, or inside. QR ordering at the tables brings your snacks and cold ones straight to your table. Convenient, but as always, less personal. Both of their Italian pilsner and Kölsch on draft were stellar. Their soft pretzel was bland like the cheese dip. Mustard was okay.

We stopped in for a beer and a meal while on vaca last week. What a terrific experience. The young lady who served us was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgable about beer, food and all. The food was great, particularly the PEI muscles and broth. And then there’s the beer. Did a flight, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. But the Wortspiel has made my permanent “porch beer” list. Can’t wait until next year when we get to go back.

4.1% Kitchen Appreciation Fee?! Thats exactly the kind of BS Socialist tax that keeps good tippers and those of us who appreciate good service and food from coming back. Btw, I live in Essex Jct and will spread the word.
Overall— the beer is always stellar. But what happened to the staff? Feeling like a burden for asking for another round, no bartenders behind the bar for 10min on a slower night? The attitude and the general lack of awareness when the bar is practically empty is either a sign employees don’t care or they’re too busy chatting with each other. Especially when beer glasses are served dripping wet with beer overflowing? Do better Black Flannel. We love you, but you’re bringing us down.

Service was great, Kam was super friendly, and very knowledgeable, veggie burger and falafel sandwich or excellent, their twist on an old fashioned was very good. Also stopped in at their distillery, had some samples which were excellent, some very unique blend and very good classic liquors. Was able to talk to the master distiller at the distillery. Very great experience
Also very good friendly, my pups loved it!
Great place to get beer and some food. The staff is absolutely outstanding. 👏 Loved the disco montage beer 🍺
A decent and enjoyable brewery with a solid atmosphere. The food we had was good—nothing overly fancy, but it paired well with the beers. The selection of brews was impressive, with a few standout options worth trying. Service was friendly and relaxed, which matched the laid-back vibe of the place. Overall, a good spot to unwind with friends over a few drinks and casual bites.
