Boxcar Bakery is absolutely fantastic! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the smell of fresh-baked bread and pastries that makes it impossible to leave empty-handed. Everything I’ve tried has been top notch—from their perfectly crusty breads to the soft, flavorful pastries that taste like they came straight out of a European café.
The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend something new. You can tell they truly care about quality and take pride in what they’re serving. It’s rare these days to find a bakery where every single item feels handmade with love and attention to detail.
If you’re anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in. You’ll be hooked after the first bite!

We got takeout Sammie’s and pastries. We arrived just after 10 AM and the store was busy. We were 7th in line. Selection was still good but going fast. The sandwiches were in a refrigerated case beside the pastry case. We really liked everything we purchased. Including the buttermilk peas g glazed scones. The meat on the smoked ham and cheese with pickles was delicious and made locally by a butcher. This was another great food experience. Delicious!

I'm sorry but I think it's mandatory every city should have one of these Boxcar bakeries. Unbelievable. I live in Chesapeake, VA but travel here twice a year to see my son and it's a must see spot for the best coffee and whatever they have hands down. I hope heaven has one somewhere.

I only got a iced chai latte it tasted like soap and was absolutely disgusting don’t get it I took one sip and threw it out they didn’t announce my name it looked like water down iced coffee.

Do yourself a favor and carve out some time to swing in and peruse their detectible treats! My fav little spot to stop while running my Saturday errands! The pastries can't be matched, service is fast and kind, and the atmosphere is bright and light. If they sold pup cups, this would be my pups favorite place too! My favs are are the Spinach, Sun Dried Tomato, and Cheddar scone, the Ham and Cheese Croissant, and the Walnut Ring.

My goodness this place is phenomenal. Love the vibe, the aesthetic, the staff. I venture to Boxcar Bakery every Sunday for “pastry Sunday” and it is the highlight of my week. The scones are mind blowing, fluffy with a crisp outer edge. Strawberry basil scone is my current fav.
