Marissa and LB are hands-down the best bartenders around! Always a highlight!
That said, wing night has lost its magic since Richard's BBQ was pulled from the menu. It was the star of the show, and without it, I won't be returning for wings. This used to be the spot for them.
Whoever made this call, please reconsider. It's a huge miss for loyal fans like me. Bring back Richard's BBQ!

We ordered takeout. The staff were friendly and prompt. The food was underwhelming at best. Ingredients were left out of orders - no cheese on the burger, no dressing or pine nuts on the roasted cauliflower and quinoa, the chicken was very dry, and there was no cornbread topping on the Mac and cheese.
The portions were very small for the price. We will not be returning.

We came on a music bingo night which was fun. It was a bit loud, so it was hard to talk. The food was not great for the price. The server we had was friendly but spread very thin, so we did not get drink refills, etc.

Atmosphere ok. Service was terrible. Server forgot to bring our appetizers, never came back to refill drinks or see how everything. She disappeared into the cosmos until she brought our check.
The food order was wrong, and when the correct order was brought out it was not warm and very unspectacular tasting. Like boiled potatos with no seasoning, overcooked protein.
I will not be a repeat customer.

Family loved it.
I had the wagyu burger, which I absolutely loved. I don’t normally get upgraded foods, especially for lunch but man, I’ll never not here.
My oldest wants to join me next time we go.
It was quite loud there but had two weddings going on and place was very busy, so not a knock on them.
Wait staff was good, and our family will be back

Great little tavern at the Essex Resort and Spa. Started with the loaded fingerling potatoes (YUM!). The honey burrata salad was absolutely delicious and a maple blondie matched with a caffe latte for dessert really hit the spot. Standard area prices, cozy atmosphere, family friendly. Super friendly and helpful waitstaff.

Great service from the Bar. Marissa knows how to make a drink. The manager Nina stopped by to check in on me and was very friendly. Food is also very good.

Restaurant in The Essex Resort and Spa. I was staying at the resort for work trip. I ate in the Lazy Goat for all my dinners. They have about 30 beers on tap almost all from VT. The food is outstanding. On my last evening I went into downtown Burlington to check it out and maybe eat there. I became paralyzed in deciding because everywhere in Burlington was new and I knew I could eat at the Lazy Goat and be sure to get a great meal. Which is what I did.
I sat at the bar each time I dined so can’t comment on wait staff but bar staff was great.
I had the wagyu burger, the steak frites twice and the Peruvian chicken. Usually as I was eating I considered ordering a second helping but my appetite was satiated by the time I finished.
I had desert one night and it was amazing in both presentation and quality.
Also was able to enjoy 20yr tawny port after dinner. It was overpriced but hey isn’t that the way with all wines in restaurants.
They also do live music some nights and my last night was music bingo.
The Lazy Goat is the sort of place I would like to be a regular but sadly I live 7 hours away.

Letitia was the perfect server - attentive but not intrusive. Food and drink were delicious: salmon on caesar salad, July special cocktail with strawberry and peach, brown butter brownie with ice cream, caramel sauce and candied walnuts. The patio is the place to sit this season, especially while enjoying the music of the Shellhouse band.

Atmosphere felt quasi old age home, at 60 we were the youngest people there other than the servers

We love the Essex and come here every time we travel to VT. The staff are responsive and friendly, the rooms are clean, cozy, and comfy. The one warning we would give is to say that the price that you book for is nowhere near what you get charged for at checkout. There are extra add on charges on the bill that “tax” your imagination. Just be sure to ask up front.
Great early dinner! Gary server was kind and professional...can't wait to go back. Always a treat to go here while visiting UVM...without craziness if downtown Burlington!

We ate at the lazy goat Saturday 5/10 with a bigger group, in celebration of our graduate!
We had Brianna and she was absolutely wonderful! She was so attentive and personable and made our first visit great. We will definitely be back because of the service we received today from Brianna, as well as the great food & selection of drinks.
From the moment we walked into The Lazy Goat Tavern, Carolina set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Her energy was magnetic—warm, genuine, and effortlessly attentive. It’s rare to find someone who not only knows the menu inside and out but also knows how to read the room and make every guest feel like the most important person there.
Carolina didn’t just take our order—she curated our experience. Her recommendations were spot-on, and you could tell she actually cared whether we’d enjoy our meal. She checked in at just the right moments—never hovering, never distant—and somehow managed to juggle multiple tables while still making it feel like we were her top priority.
What really stood out was her vibe. She’s got this calm confidence and spark that makes you want to come back just to be in her section again. Friendly without being fake, professional with just the right amount of fun. She’s the kind of person who elevates the entire restaurant.
The food was great, sure—but Carolina was the highlight. If you ever go to Lazy Goat Tavern, ask for her. Trust me, your night will be better because of it.
