As a local, it was hard to believe this place could be so good since we had never heard about it and it is in the middle of nowhere! Went for a friend's birthday dinner and, wow, what a treat! It is in several small rooms of a very old house that used to be an inn. The eclectic atmosphere and historic ambiance made for a warm and homey vibe. You need to make reservations because seating and parking are limited. We sat at the bar, which seats 6, where Heidi took great care of us. What a sweetheart! The drinks were amazing, and the food was top-notch, local, fresh, everything made from scratch!! This means it takes a little longer to prepare, and it was pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. We will definitely be back! It is family-owned, and everyone, even the chef, interacted with the guests - you can feel the family ties here. These folks have a very special thing going on, and it is working, and apparently, has been for many years. It didn't appear that the building was wheelchair accessible and the bathrooms were up very narrow stairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so if you have mobility issues, this may not work for you.Parking: We parked in the church parking lot next door.

Our friend lives in Hartland and brought us to Skunk Hollow. If you want local, it doesn't get more local than this. Make reservations if you can, otherwise you may be turned away - it's that popular, folks. We ended up all having burgers and drinks - all of which were prepared to perfection. Other dishes at other tables looked pretty amazing. There were couples enjoying full course dinners from cocktails and then salads and then moving on to main course and wine to folks just coming in for drinks at the bar. All of the above looked like great experiences. Downstairs is truly tavern like with old wood plank floors and a hearth in the middle. Bar is in the back and looks cozy. Upstairs is a bit more elegant with tablecloths and charming decor. The unique bathroom upstairs is a nice touch - and well-kept. The desserts are all made on site by Gretchen. I didn't sample any but it was awfully tempting.

Wheelchair accessibility: I am moderately disabled and to get to the upstairs dining room I had to go through their kitchen. I’m not sure how these places get such poor accessibility.

Great food in a friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was heroic as we were a party of 12. The food was a bit slow coming as they seemed to be pushing mixed drinks first. It was a prix fixe dinner but when we got our portion of the bill, the charge had doubled. Thanks to several guests having martinis, etc. I don't understand how some restaurants get away with it but as I am handicapped, the only way in and out of the restaurant was through the kitchen. The food was good although it took 2.5 hours to conclude. One hiccup was my wife's filet mignon which was so sinewy she couldn't cut it or eat it. The waitress's response to me was that "it tasted good, didn't it?" Oh well.

We called ahead two hours in advance and got a reservation in the upstairs dining area. It was such a cute and cozy place. Everyone was very polite and friendly. The waitress was funny and very knowledgeable, we felt right at home. The cocktails were delicious and the food was excellent. We would definitely go again!

Great service, friendly atmosphere and good food. Live music was an unexpected bonus. Staff attentive even though the place was very busy.

The food was great, but the best thing about Skunk Hollow is the vibe and the absolutely delightful folks that make it happen. The dining area, both upstairs and down, is lovely, but I recommend you sit at the bar and chat with the bartender, Heidi, if possible. And if you're lucky, Deb and Pete will be aglow at the far end of the bar looking like Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart. I left there feeling like a beloved regular customer. Because of proximity, that's not possible; however, anytime I'm in the area, I will be popping into Skunk Hollow.

Food was excellent. I had the Carlos chicken which was great fried chicken. Quarters are a bit snug. We had a loud group sitting at the table behind us which was very annoying. Did I say the food was excellent, yes but I have to say it again and again. I was amazed at all the choices on the menu. And everyone at our table said the same thing, THE FOOD WAS GREAT

Chicken Carlo was good. Large portions. Came with fries and half of a fried chicken. Chicken was delicious and juicy but the fries were overcooked. My wife had spinach and black bean lasagna it was overcooked and dry out crispy and not tasty. Should have sent it back but it was long in waiting to be served. Portions was small.

This restaurant is in a dilapidated old house. It needs major work. It was very overpriced. They closed the inside and we had to sit outdoors. Food was good but extremely overpriced. Service was very good.

I don't recommend them they hire local scumbags like Peter Miejer I go in there with my girl and he's too busy eyeballing her when he's got a fiance... and hit on a friend of mine on a dating site when he's engaged! I'll find somewhere else to spend my money I refuse to be around scumbags. Vermont people are wack!

Meat dishes fine, vegetarian option terrible. That pretty much sums up this review. The staff were lovely (obviously overworked and not enough people, but that is the reality in VT these days). The reason for the two stars is the vegetarian kebob my wife ordered for $23. The rice and beans on the side were unseasoned, the vegetables undercooked, and we could have had a better meal at home for under $5. Sets a new standard for bland. PLEASE inform the cooks that some effort should go into vegetarian cooking. This was awful. The burger was average, and the fish in the fish and chips had a mushy crust. Sad to deliver this, it is a great place but we were severely disappointed in a rare eating out experience.

We felt fortunate to get a reservation on a Saturday night with short notice. We've been to Skunk Hollow Tavern for years, and it holds fond memories for us. While the food was ok, the menu has become very short and limited (Covid effect perhaps) and we each struggled to find something that we each wanted. Service was great, prompt and very attentive. However, I'd give the food a B/B+; not awful, not outstanding, somewhere in between.
