We wanted to have pancakes and maple syrup before we left. This was an excellent choice. They really pride themselves on their made to order food with top notch ingredients. I got one pancake with a side of bacon. It covered a 12" plate from side to side, and about an inch thick. Fluffy and well seasoned. I was able to eat a little over half, so be warned. I asked the waitress if anybody had ever eaten three. She said no, but if they did they'd probably put their picture on the wall! This is a small place, so call in advance to get a reservation. Well worth the effort.
Maybe the best sandwiches ever! We are headed back for breakfast in a couple days. This place is excellent! A must do!
After visiting Saint-Gaudens Gardens in Cornish we decided to take a trip over the Ct. River to Hartland. Unfortunately, the diner only had take out menus. The menus were extensive and lots of choices. I got the two hot dogs and my wife got the vegetarian wrap. Both were good. The cole slaw was a little heavy with the horseradish for my tastebuds. There were two plastic Adirondack chairs to sit in so this was really meant to be a take out business due to the virus.
There is a lot to say about this place. But the best about it is the food...and lots of it. They offer breakfast for "heart attacks" and also many healthier options. The hash browns can be mixed with vegs or meats up to your liking. The dinosaurs do not disappoint!!!
Not only is the food a reason to stop in but the diner itself is something to see. My 7 month old grandson really enjoyed the whimsical look as well. I would definitely visit again if i were in the area.
The outside is nothing special. But the inside is retro decor and very nice. Waitress was very friendly. Good service. Ordered blueberry pancake, which was bigger than the plate and came with butter and real maple syrup. Large mugs of coffee. Good prices.
Sick of McFood? Is the Whopper a stopper? Take a break from America at the Hartland Diner for healthy servings of humor and attitude, plus the food is pretty good. Located in a funky old building next to a four-corners that hasn't changed much since the 1950s, the first thing you see upon entry is the life-sized cutout of Bernie Sanders. You are in Vermont, the chosen state for socialists, old hippies, and independent cusses. The walls are festooned with signed posters from Broadway plays, suggesting that someone is a refugee from the theater world, and probably NYC. Then other touches of whimsy start appearing ... dinosaurs, signs directing you to the nude beach, and another reading "Don't panic ... Don't panic." The food has a refugee quality to it as well, a refugee from the back-to-the-land movement of the 1970s, that is. Breakfast is served all day, and the diner claims to offer more variations on Eggs Benedict than anyplace else in the state. Diner classics like burgers and grilled cheese are available for more traditional tastes. Judging from other reviews, the Hartford hits the occasional clanger, too, but luckily not when I was there. This is not a destination eatery, but one that will make you smile when you are in a part of the world that doesn't have many other food options.
and then I saw the dinosaurs. On our way to New Hampshire we stopped at the diner for a light lunch. 1950's counter. stools and booths. We were given breakfast and lunch menus that were written by someone with imagination. For instance: a breakfast selection was titled "Your wife called and said you should have...". Enjoyed reading the menus, trying to decide what to have. Decided on "Hamburger with cheese" - the only item without a curious name. BIG hamburger cooked to my liking. My wife had a grilled veg salad. Both were great. We put this place into our GPS for the next time we are in the area.
I stopped in for lunch. The hamburger that I had was cooked the way I ordered it and nicely seasoned. The service was superb. I also ordered a side of coleslaw which was a good size for the price, If I had any complaints it would be the décor but as this is an diner you never know what to expect.
The Hartland Diner in Hartland VT is a restaurant I would never recommend. I found a long copper strand in my food which seemed to be from a scrub pad. The server took 2 coffees off the bill which is not the point. Time before found hair in my food. Both times turned my stomach. Neither time did they address the issue. I will never eat there again and will never recommend it to anyone else.

Came on a recommendation. Looking for a late breakfast...should have stayed in Woodstock. Yes, it’s a diner. But, still it’s tacky. Not very tidy or clean. If someone says it’s the best place in town...It’s the only place! Breakfast was hot, but not what I ordered. Food on the plate. That’s it. Lol. No little orange wedge treat or even parsley (?). Coffee is ok. Mostly disappointed that meal was not what was ordered and no offer or interest to ameliorate the situation. So not the best ever breakfast for me.
