I can honestly say this is the top sushi restaurant in Manchester, VT! Every dish tastes incredibly fresh, and the menu offers a great mix of classic rolls and unique chef creations. The quality rivals what you’d find in big cities, but with the charm and warmth of a Manchester Vermont restaurant.
The sushi rice is spot-on, the fish is perfectly cut, and the flavors are well balanced. I especially recommend the specialty rolls and the nigiri — each bite was delicious. The presentation is beautiful too, making every plate feel special.
The staff here is wonderful — friendly, attentive, and eager to make your dining experience great. The restaurant itself has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes it perfect for everything from a casual lunch to a night out with friends.
If you’re visiting southern Vermont or looking for a new favorite local spot, this is the best Japanese restaurant in Manchester Vermont. The quality, service, and atmosphere can’t be beat. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for the best sushi in Manchester, Vermont, this is the place! The quality of the fish is outstanding — always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The rolls are creative yet authentic, and the sashimi melts in your mouth. It’s clear this Japanese restaurant in Manchester VT takes pride in every detail, from perfectly seasoned rice to stunning presentation.
The service is just as impressive. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and quick to offer great recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, making it perfect for date nights, family dinners, or even a casual lunch stop after exploring downtown Manchester.
Standout favorites include the chef’s special rolls, the miso soup, and the sashimi platter — all must-try items. Prices are very fair for the quality and portions you get, and it’s an easy location to find right in the heart of town.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting southern Vermont, don’t miss this gem. This truly is the top sushi restaurant in Manchester Vermont and one I’ll return to again and again!

Absolutely love Sushi Boat!! My family is all vegetarians, and it’s some of the best veggie sushi we have had. Serving sizes are large, and they are very generous with the veggies as opposed to rice. priced very reasonably, we pick up Sushi 2-3x per week..

Best sushi I have had! The chef is a gem. We will definitely stop by next time we visit Vermont
Horribly dirty, but was starving after a hike in the snow and needed food fast. The sushi actually wasn’t bad. It was pretty good. Our waiter was nice. But my gosh was it extremely overpriced. It’s a shame because they really have potential if they took pride in their business.
The place is filthy and it smells like bleach. The windowsill next to where we sat hasn’t been wiped in months. This was the WORST sushi we have ever had. Old rice. Old wasabi. Old fish. Half-wrapped rolls. The lady who owns this dump laughed and then argued with us when we said it was less than delicious. Go to Nong’s Kitchen - it’s delightful! Umami is another great Asian place in town. This place should be shut down.
We come to the Sushi boat almost every time we are in Manchester. The sushi is absolutely delicious. The Yam Dragon is not to be missed. Had the miso soup which was delicious and comforting. Phyllis is always so welcoming, making the place feel homey and comfortable. Ralph is a meticulous chef and artist and the sushi is fresh, tasty, and beautifully displayed. This is a family favorite and I can't wait to go back!

honestly no, as someone who adores sushi this was not it. over priced and tasted so bad. the women microwaved our shrimp tempura right in front of our face. i’m from new york city so my expectations might be a higher standard but this was just disgusting. i’ve never eaten sushi while listening to country music. there wasn’t a bathroom. the rainbow roll was an unnecessary 22 dollars. it’s a mom & pop which i get but with that being said i dont believe it should be that expensive (coming from a new yorker where everything is expensive) id understand if it was amazing sushi for that price but it wasn’t. again it was microwaved number two their was no taste other then burnt. the fact that we were so dissatisfied we had to go out to dinner again because it was that gross.never again.

Who knew you had to go to Manchester, Vermont for the best sushi. My husband and I live nearby and go to Sushi Boat weekly for our favorite rolls and great conversation with the owners, Phyllis and Ralph. As natives of the NYC metro area, we used to have our pick of sushi restaurants before we moved and we never thought we would have that in our new hometown. Thanks to Sushi Boat, we enjoy flavorful rolls and sashimi in the heart of downtown Manchester. It is no small feat to stock sushi-grade fish every week for a tiny town in Vermont, which is why we are so grateful for this couple's commitment and expertise. The restaurant itself has a comfortable, casual and small-town vibe. A must for dinner if you live nearby or are just visiting the area! You won't be disappointed.

Food was great! But inside was completely empty, there was no one. There wasn’t even music so it ended up being very awkward because we were the only ones talking and making noise. Overall the food was good but my family and I would probably not go again.

Ordered take out from this place, not only was the food absolutely unappetizing by the looks (and I apologize for not providing a picture) but the taste was just as comparable. Everything about this experience was awful. We ordered for about 7 people, $200 later and we’re left hungry with stomach aches. Do not recommend at all.
