A Local Gem – Great Coffee, Even Better Vibe
Black Cap Coffee is hands down one of the best spots in both Morrisville and Stowe for a top-quality coffee and pastry experience. Whether you're starting your morning or looking for a mid-day treat, they consistently deliver.
The coffee is rich, smooth, and clearly made with care—no burnt aftertaste, just great flavor. Their pastries are fresh, perfectly baked, and hard to resist (especially the croissants and scones!). The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and efficient, even during busy hours.
Both locations have a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stick around—whether to catch up with friends, get a little work done, or just relax with a latte.
If you're in the area, Black Cap is a must-visit. Quality, consistency, and charm all in one place.
This is by far one of the best place to get coffee. Everything is delicious. I’ve had coffees all over the country and this rate is one of the top three. My favorite is the latte.
Great Espresso!
Absolutely wonderful chai & maple latte. 10/10 would come back here
Cute spot terrible coffee
This was a really enjoyable coffee shop in the middle of town. I had a family member in the hospital with nowhere their to eat and have coffee. The Vermonter sandwich was very good and the lemon square was a nice treat with good coffee. The place was bustling with all ages of people and I was able to plug in and use WiFi. Great to have nice place to camp for a while.
Though Happy Cow advertises this place as having vegan breakfast burritos, they do not. They have no vegan lunch items either. They do have vegan pastries.
Friendly service, excellent, interesting baked goods.
While waiting for my mum who is in surgery at Copley, this place turned out to be a gem. Great breakfasts and coffee and lots of space to sit. Also free WiFi.
Vegetarian options: Dairy free milk options for coffee.

Great little coffee shop. Can't say to much as we just stopped in to grab a couple of coffees after hiking but top notch.

This cafe is busy but quick! They can clear a line pretty fast! The coffee is good, and so is the food. We stopped here to fill bottles, and cram some calories before starting another day of bike touring. A perfect stop for the task.

I stopped in the other day and found it underwhelming. Undisclosed fees brought my under-$10 sandwich to over $13, which felt rather bait-and-switchy…. then I waited for 15 minutes before anyone even started making it. The person working the counter seemed annoyed to be there. Average food and ambiance. I figured that being a bakery, their bread would be homemade, but it seemed more like your typical food service panini bread. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. I didn’t have coffee or pastries, so I can’t speak to that. But if you’re after a sandwich then there’s a better bakery down the street.

Time and time again, I am frustrated with the wait time at Black Cap. I finally decided to write a review because today I called ahead for a sandwich and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I show up 25 minutes later, am told it’s almost ready, wait for 30 more minutes until she realizes that it’s been ready since I got there. Then I get home to find they forgot to include the chips.
