Totally enjoyed Tavern on the Hill. Nice bar, great vibes , excellent service and food was very good ! They were setting up a live music event as we were leaving so I’m sure it was even better ! I’ll definitely be back when up in beautiful Newport, Vermont !

This is by far my favorite restaurant in VT so far. It's usually quite busy. Amazing food, great portions, great prices, lovely atmosphere and frequent music events. The staff is very friendly, they'll have conversations, joke, and overall are very attentive. Personally, I want to try everything on their menu, all of it sounds amazing, and everything I've had there so far has been some of the best food I've had anywhere. Particularly I like their French fries and unique take on Crab Rangoon more than anywhere else I've been. Their burgers and sandwiches have been top tier as well. I will definitely be coming here whenever I'm in the Newport area.

This spot seems to cater more to locals & regulars. While the servers seemed attentive to the bar area & their regulars, we were left waiting. We were forgotten about almost as soon as we were seated & had to actively seek out staff for menus, more water, our bill, & to complete our payment. We were only there to redeem a gift certificate.

We stopped in for lunch on a day in Newport. We seated ourselves and were greeted by our server very shortly thereafter. We mentioned that we liked to play cards but had forgotten our deck at home. She went out to her car and let us use her deck. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

It was very busy and we sat on the deck. Service was glacially slow and we didn't get our apps until we asked for them a third time only to have them delivered AFTER the meal. Super frustrating.

Great place to stop in for a quick drink, meet with friends, bring a date or bring the family. Super friendly staff, always smiling, and a large selection of Pub style food with specials every single day.
Great place to have an adult beverage as well as a bite to eat. The Shroom burger was delicious as was the rest of our order! Staff was great as was the food, establishment very clean and happy they are open on Tuesdays!
The food here is fantastic. The Rte 5 dip is so full of flavor, and the Brisket Bombs are to die for. Highly recommended.

Visited midday on a Thursday, restaurant was 20-30% full, bar mildly busy. Waited about 45 minutes for a burger and a sandwich. Staff was really friendly but food was bad, burger was unseasoned with stale buns and old chips. Pork in the sandwich was gray and firm, likely from a few days ago, not a good experience. The French onion soup was delicious.

Tavern on the hill is a great place for food, but it's primary service is the bar, it can take a second for you to get service during the prime bar times, but it won't take very long, the staff was very nice, and they service a good selection of different food items, I got the fish and chips, the quantity was what you'd expect, and the quality was very good.
It is a little hard to park, as there's some pretty large potholes. The Walmart traffic unfortunately doesn't help.
I will definitely remember this place when I'm back up in the Newport area and need a drinka
