What a little gem! We wanted to try something different and saw this place online. Even though it was a 40 minute drive for us, it was certainly worth the trip. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff was so friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is great, in a beautiful little town!
My first time here, even though I don't live that far away. But I'm an old man and I like old-fashioned places with good food. They have excellent food at reasonable prices, and friendly staff. I will definitely be back next time I'm going through Poultney.
Waitress was very friendly and the food was great!
This is a low key family restaurant that serves up classic Vermont breakfasts and lunches. It's just the place to fuel up before you hit the Rail Trail.
The waitress had her hands full & the cook really did a wonderful job getting our clan served along with other clientel
Excellent Vermont food with real Maple Syrup. The service is friendly and excellent. Reasonable prices. I love the French Toast.
Clean, prompt, friendly, very reasonably priced. Open Mondays! Did we drive 25 minutes from Rutland to get here? You bet’cha!
Excellent!!

My wife, her father, and I went here this morning for breakfast. Our favorite NY breakfast place was closed, so we picked this from Google maps based on its high ratings and relatively close proximity. Coincidentally, it's where my wife's mother went to Green Mountain College (now Green Mountain Community School) in 1947-1948. Fortunately they have an easy to use entrance ramp, which my father in law needed because he uses a walker. Once inside, it was easy to get around with his walker. The waitress Cheryl was very accommodating and helpful. We were served drinks, coffee (from Speeder and Earls of
Burlington VT, if I remember correctly) and water, quickly. My father in law ordered a cheese and bacon omelet with toast. My wife got the California Omelet special (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and cheese) with toast and hash browns. I ordered a single (huge!) pecan pancake with real VT maple syrup with eggs over easy and sausage patties. Our food came out quickly and was great. Cheryl checked in us frequently as well as the folks in the kitchen. It's a very comfortable and welcoming place with great food, coffee and service. We highly recommend Rail Trail Eatery!

I ate there for the first time yesterday taking a friend who had done me a favor to lunch. The inside was clean and nicely done. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with coleslaw and my friend had a cheeseburger and fries. The server Cheryl was very nice and checked on us several times while we waited for our food. I was surprised to see the crispy chicken was a round piece of chicken that is often seen in grocery stores. In spite of that, it was tasty. The coleslaw was very good. My biggest concern was, that although it was not super busy and considering the type of food that is served,it took an hour to get our food. Cheryl helped the time go by.
