We really like Keeper’s! The angus steak is perfectly prepared every time I order it with a savory sauce that perfectly enhances the flavor. We love the seasonal and locally sourced menu, and the atmosphere and service is very nice for a romantic dinner for two, or a conducive place for great conversation with friends. Do the house salad with the local blue cheese crumbles, it is so fresh and amazing!
There are no individual menus for each table so guests must make their meal selections from several giant chalkboards that are positioned in various rooms of the restaurant. The menu was written in chalk and items were squeezed onto the board, taking up nearly every inch of space, so I found the menu difficult to read. But worse, staring at the menu was awkward and uncomfortable because the menu boards hang directly above tables where people are eating. We were surprised that the menu was rather limited.
Not nearly as good as I remember. Food was bland, we had the shrimp tacos and the Cornish game hen with tarragon. Both were bland and the seasoning was odd.
I came here with my 5 year old son for a "dada date". I ordered the burger with plymouth blue cheese and bacon. It was amazing and perfectly cooked. My son ordered the pizza off of the kids menu and loved it. The Waitress was really nice and let us know before we ordered that the kitchen was backed up. It's nice to know that ahead of time to set expectations.
Delicious. Inventive. Fresh. Coming back asap!
Go to Keepers enough to know the food is really good. It’s too bad that the website is not updated to match when exactly they’re open. It’s a sour taste in your mouth when you drive 1/2 an hour to get to a restaurant and it’s not open but the website says it is. Please update anywhere you have times listed. Or don’t post anything at all so patrons know to call! A sign at the door is no help. Food is a 5, correct info is a 2.
I want to start by saying if there was a zero I would give this place a zero we have here on a Tuesday night we are one of two tables in the restaurant. We had poor service and wrote on the bill why we were only tipping a small amount, only to find out when checking account days later the waitress proceeded to charge out card and extra $10. When we noticed that we were overcharged attempting to call the owner and explain how poor a service experience we encountered that night and that his waitress “stole” our money he proceeded to say it was a mistake, to talk over me, curse at me and not allow to share the horrible experience. When we sat down she came over and got one of our drink orders walked away and then realized she needed to offer “me” the other one of us a drink. I ordered a bacon burger medium and came out charred with no bacon. When I asked for the bacon that came in my order, she came back slammed a plate with under cooked bacon on the table. After putting the under cooked bacon on my burger in attempting to eat it I choked down about half of it before I couldn’t eat anymore, wasn’t offered a box to take home the scraps to my dog. When asking about the specials she said the duck is chunks of duck meat on the plate with vegetables it came out with far more than then no vegetables, it was mushrooms, a very thick ginger sauce wish I woulda known that was on there what if a had an allegory. When we got our bill we noticed she charged us $6 for the bacon they didn’t put on my bacon burger, we overlooked that at the time and said oh well but this morning when I checked my credit card being charged an extra $10 I cant stand for that. If you are looking for poor customer service, the chance of being overcharged once you leave the establishment and cursed out when you try to call the owner and rectify the situation then this is the place you want to go to!! Cheers
Very nice and cute place. The stafff there is so nice and it’s a place many people go to. The food is so good and well priced for the food option they have. Lots of seafood on the menu but also has pastas and meat. I would most likely recommend this place if your in reading, vt
Nice and clean
Very nice place to eat. Kinda place with menu on board. I heard from rick steves... that is how European people and restaurants are. Everything looks very good. I am getting spaghetti with white clam sauce. And french onion soup.

Teriffic resturant. Best cod dinner I've had.
Our group of six sat by the cozy warm woodstove. We had some hard decisions to make for dinner. At least 3 appetizers and several entrees look tempting to me. I got the Cornish hen which was tasty but only a small half. It was not very meaty. That can happen anywhere. The veggies were great. The cod dish that some of my friends got was ample and they loved it. The salad had a flavorful house dressing. Our group was looked after with honest concern that we enjoyed our time there. The service was excellent. I would definitely go back.
Very cute & homey restaurant off the beaten path, where you'd never suspect finding a great restaurant! Daily menu posted on the chalkboard, including apps, entrees, and desserts. Butternut squash bisque was delish and had a garnish of delectable sauteed mushrooms on top. My house salad was super simple, but amazingly fresh and dressed perfectly with a maple vinaigrette. The crab wands were like a dressed up crab rangoon with a kick. Service was great and everyone very friendly. Atmosphere was cozy.
Very nice ,comfortable setting
Second visit here. The food was excellent. Around our table we had the pasta, the NY sirloin, and the cheeseburger. Everyone was happy with their choices. We also had the Vermont Cheese Plate, the Crab Wands, and the Mussels. Each was excellent. So that part of the evening was great. The "but" is the service. The waitress we had was chewing her gum while serving. That seemed so Denny's to me. Hopefully she stops that practice before more diners get grossed out by it. She also confused a hearty red zin with a blush zin (they were out of the red, which would have done well with the steaks and the pasta...she offered a blush zinfandel instead after about a 10 minute wait - yikes!). We switched to a cabernet. She struggled with the cork for some reason, and sloshed about a half glass on the ground. Didn't seem to bother her, though, as she rolled her eyes. Next, they plunked the cheese plate down without an explanation of what local cheeses we were being served. I recall that last time we ate here, a very attentive waitress told us details about each cheese and the little sides of quince and honey, as well as how to pair them. I mean, if I want cheese plunked down in front of me with a grunt I could stay home and have my husband serve me! We will be back. I think they were breaking this new waitress in. I sure hope so, anyway! The food is among the best around Woodstock. Right up there with Cloudland Farm for a splurge, or the Worthy Kitchen.
