We stopped by Hand Carved By Ernie in Rutland, and it was an absolute treat! Their Reuben sandwich was one of the best we’ve ever had—perfectly toasted with juicy, flavorful corned beef and just the right amount of sauerkraut and dressing. The staff were not only friendly but absolutely adored our dogs, making us (and them!) feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with such a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for a top-notch sandwich or some dog-friendly love, this spot is a must-visit!

Everything about this restaurant was perfect. From friendly service to wait time and pastrami and ruben sandwiches were amazing!
This establishment can do so much better with their service. Came in on my lunch hour to get a sandwich; Pastrami Reuben, nothing special. I ordered at 12:20pm, and didn’t walk out with my sandwich until 12:55pm. Mind you that the man who took my order told me 10 minutes. There were a couple “locals” who they knew by first name that ordered well AFTER me, but still got their sandwiches and left long BEFORE I did. ( I’ve lived in Rutland for 25 years) Having worked in the service industry for many years, that is terrible customer service. I will not be going back. With that being said, the sandwich was decent.

I come to Vermont from Texas to visit my daughter and son-in-law and every time I'm here I HAVE to have a turkey sandwich from Ernie's. I don't know what kind of magic they use but I'm hooked! Staff is great and the place is cozy with big windows!
