It's an important to know that the deli is owned and operated by a cult. Yes the food and atmosphere is great and they do well creating an attractive place. The cult is set up primarily on the application trail with the intention of growing it's membership by recruiting people that are soul searching. They see people on the trail as easy recruits and offer low cost hostiles along the trail. They also travel to concerts in busses like grateful dead and Phish and give out free food to also create the alour of attractiveness. This all said, they encourage people to cut off ties from their families, marry extremely young and turn members in psychological nightmares or make preexisting conditions worse. Children loose their parents and parents loose their children when they join the cult.

The community is better served if we stop allowing them to use downtown Rutland as their safe zone and head quarters for these operations. The sandwich and juice you purchased only fuels the fire.

For cult members reading this, please remember God does not make to hard of terms for those that seek him. Your life can be a prayer in society too .. the fact that your cult needs societies money to exist by seeking your food, produce, carpentry and other goods and services too is proof your not living outside of society but off of it and under control of manipulation.

You can worship and show kindness in all aspects of your life

The Twelve Tribes is a "Biblical Commune" NOT a Cult. Every person whose their is happy and their in their own accord and choice! They are there as they believe in UNITY and the Philosophy of "Many hands make light work". They are correct and hardworking, skilled loving, friendly and kind. They kick butt on Hospitality, Cooking, Agriculture, expert Woodworkers, Soap making, producing Grain and other Organic Products. They are around the Globe and each group helps the other! My Husband Greg and I stayed overnight in a beautiful room at the Harper's Ferry Community (Hillsboro) where Jeremy and his lovely Wife dwell. And this week we went to visit Organic Basin Farms in Bellows Falls VT. We were treated with love and respect and fed a delicious meal with some great Fellowship. They even allowed us to help peel Butternut squash that were harvested. They had what seemed like tons and are very productive. All true CULTS never last and fizzle out but these folks have not and they've been around for a very long time. They are NOT a Cult and to be 100% honest, even if they were, then we wouldn't mind lol ? God bless the Twelve Tribes!!!!Gregory & Jennifer

I had a quick 20 minute stop in Rutland, so I stopped in looking for iced coffee. The gentleman who served me was very kind. He wasn’t able to make an iced coffee in time for my departure, but he offered my acomplimentary yerba mate, iced. I gladly accepted. Super kind people, positive energy.

What a treasure! Quirky deli with cool atmosphere and fantastic food. Get outside your comfort zone and try the mango or lemon-lime maté. They also make their own root beer. The Yellow Deli is an absolute must stop when in Rutland. They will be closed down 8/4 for mechanical upgrades but the atmosphere won’t be changing.

Yeah, the sandwiches are decent. But consider the fact that Yellow Delis are owned by an organization that has been reported to whip their workers, practice child marriages, believe slavery was good for black folk, hold archaic views on women, and manipulate young and open minded backpackers before deciding to support this business. You can eat better, more local, more ethical food elsewhere in Rutland.
