My wife and I had a great experience the food was creative with a fresh peach burrata with maple balsamic, the burger was fantastic and the chef and wait staff presented everything with a smile and a quick thank you they took pride in his work amd service . It’s nice to see that there are still places out there that know what it takes . I’m 5 stars on this place because reminds me of places like Black Door , Starry Night , Bobcat Cafe of the early 2000s . Great job .

We visited Barkeaters this last Wed. and waited about an hour and a half to get our drinks and lunch. The place was maybe 1/3 full, including the outside seating. Another couple seemed to give up waiting for their meal. The floors were grease-saturated rugs and our shoes stuck as we walked on it. The place smelled of old grease. Regardless, we stuck it out because it was recommended by a local. Service was not great, but not awful – we had to ask for our drinks about a half hour after ordering them, during our long wait for food, while others that came in after us were given their drinks. Not once did someone check if we needed anything or needed a refill. The hamburgers, BLT, and Ruben were all very average to below average. The soda was flat and the water was served warm. The fries and the sweet potato fries were good.
The male in our group reported that the bathroom floor didn’t look like it had been cleaned of old misses in a very long time. The women’s room was basically clean.
Definitely not worth a revisit, mainly due to cleanliness. Also, assuming they may have had a bad day and were shorthanded, there just was no attempt to check in with patrons or communicate a long wait. We certainly didn’t expect to stay 2.5 hours in the place to have a mediocre lunch and leave wondering if it would pass a health inspection.

An hour wait for drinks, and half an hour after that we got our food, which was ok, even with only a third of the restaurant full it took unseemly long. Watched other patrons walk out after waiting about the same time as us bc they didn't get severed. Simply understaffed and slow.

We recently had our first meal here and were quite pleased! As soon as we stepped in we noticed a welcoming and warm vibe. The staff were attentive, Julie and Dave were terrific hosts and the food was delicious! We’ll be back!

Unbelievably delicious food. Our party had shwarma bowl, fish n chips, soba noodles and each meal was excellent. The owners are so kind and caring. The environment warm and cozy. Wish we lived closer so we could go more often. Loved our evening.

Went for lunch. Horrible service took over 30 minutes for 3 sandwiches and a hockey puck of a smash burger. Sodas were flat. Waitress took at least 15 minutes to come to our table to take drink orders. Mind you the restaurant was more than half empty.. the burger was rock hard and burnt. Awful not worth the 74.00 for lunch. Sorry

My wife and I have dined at Barkeaters MANY times over the past 15 years and always look forward to coming back for more. Very low key, comfortable atmosphere, always friendly and great service, and a creative, wide ranging menu that always has something tasty (wether you need decadent, meaty, fried or healthy) for all. I have not had a sour glass of wine there yet. Think we might head back over there now....
Owners are awesome. Staff is awesome. Food is great. Been there many many times. Creative menu, always changing.

We have patronized this restaurant for 7+ years and have recommended it to others. We just had the worst experience, ever. The wine was sour and almost made me sick. I asked for a different glass of the same wine, and it was good. The supposed grilled chicken (that I specifically asked to be very well done) was white and visibly not grilled. The owners and staff bullied us and made us feel that I was being difficult for asking for what I wanted and speaking up when I didn't get it. My husband finished his meal, but I never got my second request for a different meal. It's clear that this establishment's owners and management do not care to hear the requests from their patrons and more willing to blame them than make things right. I spent $57 for an app, a beer, a glass of wine, and a salad. I'm happy to share my receipt with anyone who's interested. This isn't a high-end restaurant (which is perfectly fine), but to be treated the way we were should cause pause to anyone considering going here. There are so many fine casual and fine dining restaurants in the greater Burlington area - you don't need to experience this. BEWARE - the owners admitted to eavesdropping on our personal conversations and video recording of their patrons. That's a bit scary in these times.

The owner's assumption that my one-star review was due to the bread selection is not only incorrect, but also dismissive of the real issues I experienced during my visit. The staff's behavior was unacceptable, and I was made to feel unwelcome from the moment I walked in. I didn't even get to try the food because the service was so poor. If the owner is willing to listen, I'd be happy to provide more feedback.
I wrote home about my dinner. The food here was fantastic! Lots of locally sourced things on the menu. Everything was perfectly seasoned. The owners were very friendly. Without question will go back and will bring others. I had roasted asparagus soup, an Austrian sausage platter, and a blueberry and lemon cookie ice cream sandwich.
