I live nearby and love the Kedron Valley Inn and surrounding property. I'm a New Yorker (L.I.) and have been spoiled by great food especially pizza my entire life. The Ransom Tavern in my opinion is just ok as far as the food and menu. The bar and drinks are very good. They need to shake up and diversify menu a bit. Some creative pizzas a couple good ones but the traditional marinara/Margherita and others with similar ingredients not so good. The sauce is just ok, needs to be more traditional. The menu lacks choices. What is a tavern without a great burger or sandwich? Soup choices? I get it with the pizza oven that's great but add some other options......

Such a nice place! There was live music (fiddle / banjo), and the pizzas were excellent.

My wife an I ate dinner there this past Thursday. The food was fine and the service friendly. The fact that they tacked a 20% tip automatically on the tab without the waitress or menu disclosing this practice is dishonest. This left a bad taste in our mouths. If this is the practice of the Tavern, disclose it ptominently.

We stayed at the Inn for a couple of nights and made a reservation well in advance for dinner. It was fantastic. One of the best pizzas that we have ever had. Wine and dessert were delicious as well. The service was excellent! Heads up…. They will automatically add a 20% tip to your check. It’s a very cozy atmosphere.

This is a specialty pizza place. That's it. No other dinners are offered but they do have cheese boards and some other appetizers. They do have a full bar. They are open Wed-Sat for 3 or 4 hours (depending on what you read). We had an absolutely great server who had only been working for a little over a week. She was definitely the best part of our experience. We had made reservations 6 months prior to our arrival. If we wanted another night once we arrived, forget it, there's no room, even for the guests of the Inn. They say they try to fit you in but it's hard. In other words, don't count on it. We finished our dinner with two of us getting Baileys on the rocks. Total for those two after dinner drinks was $32.00. That's outrageous. We visited 6 years ago, and the tavern was set up totally different and the people were so welcoming, they even kept it open late for us, knowing when we arrived, we'd need some dinner. They had a full dinner menu that was delicious.

While visiting with Midwest friends to show them Vermont’s Fall beauty we found ourselves in an empty parking lot of the restaurant where we had confirmed reservations! They were closed tight. Their website upon checking confirmed that but they never told us of the change. Not an easy task, to find a good spot in this area in October to have dinner. Other possibilities were also closed as is so often the case these days. I called this establishment and spoke with Ann who informed me that she was sorry but they were fully booked as was the bar! Just before I hung up she thought of a great solution. We could order takeout and eat at some nice picnic tables in the garden if we would like. We accepted her kind offer and headed straight there. She assigned a terrific young man, Ryan, to handle our order and had the staff bring plates, silverware etc. to our makeshift dining spot. We enjoyed a couple of wonderfully fresh salads, a meatball appetizer and a terrific pizza as well as really nicely made cocktails. A big thank you to the more than gracious Ann and her able right hand man Ryan! Ann even arranged to open the dining room doors to the outside so that we could enjoy the live Irish music. If you live in the area or visit , please support this customer focused and excellent business.

A good selection of items from salads, cheese boards to pizzas! We loved everything that we ordered: fennel salad, prosciutto Parma and the pizza with arugula and prosciutto. The tiramisu was excellent too!

AMAZING PIZZA ! ?We loved this place, it’s atmosphere and the service. The food was excellent and the pizzas were beyond amazing. The only thins I want to mention is the the fact that it is on the pricey side and they charge 20% tip automatically. We didn’t know about that until the check arrived, and even then the waitress didn’t mention it (we saw it on the receipt) and could have accidentally paid the top twice! So heads up?

First night into Woodstock, we randomly stopped in to the Random Tavern. Little did we know it would be the best stop we had the entire trip! The food, drinks and service were fantastic. Atmosphere was charming! Wish the rest of Woodstock would follow suit!

A wonderful setting and great fresh salad pizza and dessert. This is Vermont simplicity casual elegance and taste. The salad was fresh crisp and tasty. Individual pizzas have a bread makers crust . Try the white pizza with arugula priscuitto and a garlic cream baste. Yum . There’s a solid bar , wine list etc. make ur own sundaes to complete the decadence. In summer the porch of this 200 year old inn is a treat to dine on. Go
