Crap. Went for a family trip. Everyone in our group check in at different times and each one had a different bad story about the person who checked us in. We thought he was high. The breakfast had rancid juice included, the beds were uncomfortable. They told us, they would refund us 1 night because we accidently booked 1 extra night. The lady told us, "Sure, no problem." A few weeks after not getting a refund my wife called back and got confirmation by email that we should recieve a refund. We had to contact out credit card to dispute it when we got back from the hotel. And the hotel rejected it. NEVER STAY HERE!

Motel 6 is more luxurious. What a total case of bait and switch. Over 200.00 a night for a dingy, sparse room in "the annex". Beds were old and cheap, linens were from the 70's, bathroom was gross. None of these rooms are on the website. It's a complete rip off, run far away!

Made an error in date for reservation. Hotel wouldn't refund me. Tried moving to correct date next day and they would only accommodate me for additional 365 after paying for first nights stay. Your error is their gain. Not an establishment I choose to do business with. Warning ! Don't make a mistake. They don't care and this is why they have terrible reviews. I should have read the writing on the wall. Sad actually.

beds were nice and crusty, cool. boogers all over the sheets, nice. looks like someone got a 3 on the sides and scissors up top in the bathroom before we got here, great .

Dated, shabby, uncomfortable and sad. Our room was like grandma's guest room when she hasn't gone upstairs in ten years. OLD mattresses. Dingy curtains. Broken windows. No robes. No cable...I think? There was no guide, and only a few channels. Not even a box of tissues. Slow wifi. Had to beg for pillows which prompted a search for clean pillow cases. Supposedly "state law" did not allow them to clean our room, but I know they were cleaning rooms where my son was staying down the road. We were told to leave our towels and trash outside the door and it would get picked up and replaced...didn't happen so I had to go down to the desk. Also, when we arrived the thermostat was set at 82 degrees. We had to leave windows open for two days to get down to a comfortable temperature. We had to prop one open with a wine bottle. I'm giving it two stars because the breakfast was surprisingly ok, and the staff was mostly nice, but there isn't much in the way of management happening here. My husband is a hotel/restaurant guy and he was beside himself. We left a day early. Could not get out of there fast enough.

I’m chuckling as I write this. I read the reviews before I booked. I assumed the reviews were a bunch of snobby New Yorkers who can’t have a gritty experience while skiing in Vermont. Boy was I wrong! This place is DISGUSTING! Read these reviews and think 70 times before you book. The room was not clean, the tv didn’t work. The bed had black long curly hairs in it. The only nice amenity at the Stowe Inn is the hot water…but the shower itself id gross.I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere before booking this. Especially if they tuck you in the Annex!

Terrible stay. Heat in main building and carriage house didn’t work well. Room was dirty. One towel in room for 4 people. Continental breakfast was awful. Parking lot was icy and 8” of snow was not cleared. Staff needs direction. Upside is great location. Needs ownership change or a commitment to radical change.

Save yourself time and money and DO NOT book here.I booked two rooms to stay here for an upcoming weekend trip. I tried to cancel one room and was told to email them. When I called again to confirm my reservation was cancelled, the person at the desk told me I wouldn't get a refund because it was a holiday weekend...except that it wasn't. I've checked their cancellation policy on their site and emails, which all tell me I should be able to get a full refund. When I told the person on the phone this, she promptly hung up and refused to answer my calls again. They've now blocked my phone number and I have no way of reaching them since they don't respond to any emails either. For your sake, don't book here.

We read all the reviews. Unfortunately we were real desperate for a few days on the mountain and booked here any way as there was nowhere else with a vacancy. After reading the reviews I prepared for this trip by purchasing cheap sheets from Amazon that we could just ditch when we left. When we first got to the room I was pleasantly surprised as it appeared *relatively clean*. We dropped off our stuff and headed right to dinner. When we got home and wanted to go to bed, we pulled the sheets back and saw SEVERAL, black curly hairs of all lengths all over the sheets. At this point it's 11pm and no one is around to do a thing about it. THANK freakin god I had brought a pair of cheap sheets because that's the only reason we were able to stomach the weekend there. Let's just say next time, we will skip a weekend at the mountain if the stowe inn is the only place to stay.

We checked in Christmas Day was met by the nicest woman Mary lee and went to our room which was charming and clean nice view of the brook. Later that night went to the bar and met Carlos who was fabulous! The next day on the 26th was my birthday and these two greeted me with happy birthdays and we even shared a little cake to celebrate my birthday which was awesome. These two are truly amazing.

I worked here a few years ago; trust me when I tell you these negative reviews are not exaggerated. I also remember management and the owner, Lori, bribing customers to give good reviews. I’m not saying that all the great reviews are false, but I do know that their standards are extremely low. I would compare this place to a Motel 6. I honestly don’t know why people stay here. It must be the cheapest place to stay in Stowe.

The customer service was excellent. Room was very cozy & clean. Short walk to town center. Chris was very helpful, friendly & treated us very good. The hotel is a national landmark ; very unique and has that old town charm. Overall, I highly reccomend this place.

Was disappointed with my experience here. Not only were the facilities outdated (rusty, falling apart, not working well or at all), but the bed was sliding off the walls, the tiles coming up off the ground, and the TV didn't work. After asking for assistance, we received a 2nd TV that didn't work and no support. There was also people partying and loud until 3am. Overall would not come back.

I'd give zero stars if it were an option. When we first arrived, there was no one at the desk or anywhere to be found. Finally, the manager arrived and informed us that because we paid the low price of $207 per night, we'd be staying in the "rustic section" behind the main motel. On a positive note, the cleaners were working on those rooms, so we should be able to get in at check-in time of 3pm. We drove past the rustic rooms and talked with the cleaning crew, who shared with us that they were the maintenance crew, but were now also cleaning rooms. We got back to the hotel around 5:30, completed the check-in process, and went to our 2 rooms. One room was "clean." The other room was untouched (beds were still unmade from previous guests). I informed the woman at the front desk that our room was not clean. She said they'd get right on it. So we went to their bar. The woman at the front desk was the bartender as well, so there was no one waiting on customers in the bar. The manager was cooking (their chef was out due to an "accident"). The burgers and fries that a neighboring couple ordered looked awful. Upon receiving our bill for drinks, my husband suggested that they comp them for our having to wait 5 hours for our room. The manager said that she would comp one drink. My husband then suggested that was unfair. She said that she had changed the check-in time from 3pm to 4pm on the website and social media. She accused my husband of being belligerent, cancelled our reservation and said the two of us had to leave and said she was calling the police. Clearly, this place is short and poorly staffed . However, the manager was so rude and obnoxious, it left a really horrible impression. Our friends' room was not clean... the floors were dirty and the place was dingy. It had a bad odor, and there was an ironing board in the middle of the room. Other guests who were staying there said that the managercalled the police on an Asian Couple staying in the hotel because she couldn't understand them. This woman needs to attend a few seminars on customer service. I have to say that I agree with another guest who commented on this forum, that you're better off staying in your car or a cardboard box. It was God-awful.

Presently bit off season, though I enjoy these times. So check if you like. Go look in at. Totally calm views from beverage bar& tables. Great sitting areas
