Should have been concerned when this was the only place in town without a wait. When we walked in at 6:00 PM on a holiday the place was totally empty. The "poutine" was just microwaved french fries with half melted cheese and canned gravy and my mac and cheese could have been kraft. Overall weird place and would not recommend.

Jan 29, 2022—- This is the absolute WORST RESTAURANT we have ever eaten at!!!!! We looked at the menu before we left and it sounded just like what we were looking for but when we got there that menu did not exist!!!!!! What they had had very few items and we should have known something because there was only one other table with people. Service was equally as bad to the point of actually feeling bad for waitress. She was clueless!!!!!! I had a steak and my husband had a hamburger; HORRIBLE is a compliment ??Nice looking restaurant but for sure will close soon or must make MAJOR CHANGES!!!!STAY AWAY!!!!!

This is an absolutely gorgeous establishment in Stowe VT. Check in was easy with the owner, who was incredibly helpful and kind late in the evening. The chef was helpful and kind as well. As a travel nurse, I was given recommendations from the owner for what rooms to ask for that would be more quiet and away from the bustle, which is great to know as a night nurse. Absolutely stunning main house and bar/restaurant. I will 100% return, thank you so much!

The place is filthy rundown , no amenities as advertised not even clean towels . Had to argue for toilet paper and soap and towels . Should really be closed down by board of health and safety

Our room had no towels and no soap. We waited over an hour for one towel that my husband and I shared. We ordered breakfast the next morning and waited over 3 hours for 7 people. The first people in our group were served over an hour before the last two were finally served at 12 noon. The only 2-3 people that were working seemed to be in completely over their heads. They advertised a soft opening , but they were not equipped to serve food. It was an experience I have no desire to ever repeat.

As guests of The Stowe Inn, we thought it would be nice to dine there, as well. BIG mistake! One young man, it seemed, was host/server/bar tender/ and possibly the cook! When we arrived, there were three other tables occupied, all awaiting food. We saw one father get up from his table twice to hunt down his children's meals. We asked for water, as did the table next to us, as we waited to place our order from the very tiny menu. The young man brought a tray with only two small glasses of water (with no ice) for the table next to us. He then took an additional trip to deliver our two small glasses of the same warm water. Neither of our tables ever had the chance to order after sitting for nearly 15 minutes. We finally walked out.

Believe the bad reviews! The good ones must be fake. This place is simply awful. It is a beautiful old building, but don't be fooled by the outside of it, or by the pictures that must have been taken many years ago! We checked in here but chose not to stay after we had a look at the room: absolutely filthy and stained pull-out couch that my 4 year old was supposed to sleep on (which was not made up with sheets though it should have been); chunks of food including peanuts

++SEE PICS OF STAINED SHEETS AND MOUSE DROPPINGS WITH PEANUT UNDER THE BED++ I saw this said below, but it bears repeating: Believe the bad reviews! The good ones must be fake. This place is simply awful. It is a beautiful old building, but don't be fooled by the outside of it, or by the pictures that must have been taken many years ago! We checked in here but chose not to stay after we had a look at the room: absolutely filthy and stained pull-out couch that my 4 year old was supposed to sleep on (which was not made up with sheets though it should have been); chunks of food including peanuts with mice droppings under the beds; big dark stains on the sheets; dust everywhere; the window unit Air conditioners in both rooms did not blow cold air which was important since we were there in August; the tub did not drain, etc etc. I could go on and on. On the evening of our reservation we checked in and took possession of the key, but after seeing the room we chose to leave at 7 pm and drive 4 hours back home with my 4 year old and 80 year old parents. That's how bad it was. Don't stay here. Especially if you actually want to enjoy your vacation in Vermont. I imagine they will go bankrupt soon anyway.

This is a shady place is should be reported and closed due to unlawful business practices. The Stowe Inn & Tavern robbed me of $254.27 and I never stayed there.

It was a weird vibe. We were the only people there on a Saturday night. Things on the menu were not available. Menu not even close to what was on line. Burger was ok but not done rare per my request. Very limited beer menu. Will never return

Walked into the restaurant and we were the only people there - on a Saturday night. Weird vibes! No one came in the whole time we were there. The menu was not even close to what was posted on line and was very limited. The only person who appeared to work there (Tom, the bartender/waiter) was very nice. French fries were good. Burger were expensive ($16) and not worth the price. Asked for rare and got medium. Beer selection was horrible. We were afraid to try desert - LOL. On our list of places never to return to!!

So this was our 1st time going to this restaurant and it was an EPIC FAIL!! We ordered wings and crab cakes for apps. The wings were RAW! Our main course we ordered 2 beef stew with a biscuit (per the menu). NO biscuit it was nasty roll. Another plate was the salmon and that was an ok dish the last dish was the ribeye and mashed with veggies. Let's just say the ribeye smelled so bad I knew the meat had expired. If I was you I would NEVER eat here. Trust me!!!

Absolutely disgusting! My friend and I chose this place due to the close proximity of town (not having been to Stowe and simply looking at a map). I wish we would have chosen another place, even if we had to drive. The first thing we were hit by was the old and moldy smell as we opened the door to our room (not attached to the main building). We winced and looked around and thought, "We can do it...how bad can it be?" It was late in the night and we didn't want to go searching for a new place after a day of travel. We tried, really we did, but we couldn't do it after finding hair (yes, that kind of hair) on the bed sheets, dead spiders in the corner along with lots of dirt and dust bunnies. We asked to switch to a different room and the staff was incredibly helpful in accommodating us. Unfortunately that room as 99-percent as bad. The 1-percent better was just because it had a hard floor instead of carpet. Otherwise, still the same hair in the bed (and the SMELL of someone else, like a man's cologne), dust bunnies and dead bugs. We both couldn't sleep all night and had a horrible experience thinking we'd be getting some sort of rash by sleeping there. The next morning we told the kind staff that we simply couldn't do it. They were so nice and said the manager would be contacting us that day. Did we hear from the manager that day? No. And not the next day. We ended up stopping in and asking for the manager. She was extremely rude and defensive and said that she would not give us a refund without "the facts" but that she was simply too busy and would have to give us a call back. We still never heard from her! It was at that point we had to call our credit card company and cancel the stay, minus one night (yes we paid for it even though it was horrific!). Do not stay here! There are so many beautiful places and Airbnbs in Stowe where you will be happy. This inn is the opposite of a vacation. Yuck!

My sisters and I stayed here through air B and B even though it is an inn. It is advertised as a spacious 3 bed suite with spa. First things first, there was only one bed and two very saggy outdated sofa beds. Upon arrival, in the lobby of the inn, there was a very foul odor that hit our travel weary noses. We were greeted quickly and promptly got our keys to our "suite". First, the toilet was clogged...eww... then we noticed that there were only two bath towels. There are four of us and the suite supposedly sleeps 6. We went to call the desk with the phone on the counter, but it did not work. So two of us walked to the inn and told the gentleman behind the desk about the toilet and the lack of towels. He came back with three small towels and followed us back and fixed the toilet. When we looked at the towels we realized they were bath mats.!! Okay, it was late at night, so we just dealt with it. The next day, two of us used the two towels that were provided and hung them up on the hook to dry. When we came back that evening, the towels were gone and they weren't replaced with clean ones. Not cool. Again, we dealt with it. The amenities listed were not accurate or just so basic it was comical. Fireplace was boarded up, microwave listed did not exist, blanket draped over the window was a makeshift curtain.... hmmm... simple things that could be easily upgraded or fixed. Especially for the price. A little over $300/night when u include taxes and cleaning fees...

We stayed here because it was the cheapest place within an easy walk of the downtown area. Despite what I read on many reviews, we found it to be a comfortable place. Our room was large, clean with a view of the road and river. In retrospect, I wish we had asked for a room away from the road. The town is doing road work, and they start at 10pm and work till 5am! The public lounge was also large and comfortable. Plenty of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant wasn't open at this time of year. No biggie, since there are several very good restaurants close by. The included breakfast was meager. Toast, cold cereal etc. For the price, this is probably the best deal in Stowe.
