Love the Whip.. expensive but great food..
This place is a great little spot for tourists. The outdoor patio/porch is lovely. Our waitstaff were wonderful. I was a little disappointed by the food. It tasted great but the portions were smaller then I was expected for a plate (steak) that was 50 plus bucks. It was very plain presentation as well. Still good but I'd probably go somewhere else if your looking for a little more detail and excitement to your food.
Historic building(must see pics along hall walls), great restaurant, new menu just started. Precis servers. Open kitchen
Fantastic service, delicious deserts, and enjoyable beverages. The staff and service at The Whip made our visit wonderful.
Good food..ext. wine selection. Nice place for a romantic evening. Limited menu.
Top notch beginning to end. So few dining experiences match the price tag, but you can feel very good when you leave Whip. Service was excellent, the food amazing, set in a warm and cozy dining room that oozes New England ski town charm. Put it on your must-go list the next time you're in Stowe.
So me and my wife just went there as part of our honeymoon. Right from the start the hostess was extremely welcoming. The food was incredible, the dining area beautifully done. The problem was the server, empty drinks for the entire entree. Not once did she bother to check in during our dinner. As we were wrapping things up I mentioned I had a gift card from the resort we were staying at, the check was basically thrown at the table at this point. As a former waiter myself, this was by far the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant. Our waitress truly ruined our dining experience
This place has an interesting menu. I like the vibe of the place. It’s elegant but casual at the same time. You don’t need to be dressed fancy but you feel like you are in a nice place. They start you with what seems to be home baked bread with a maple butter which was very good. I got the steak au poive. It was not cooked to my liking but it was very good nonetheless. When the waitress asked how everything is I said it wasn’t cooked to my liking but it didn’t need to be sent back (it was still good). My wife got the brussel sprout salad which was very good. When I got the check they gave me a little off for the steak that I said something about which was appreciated as I did keep it. I think that’s really classy of them to do and even if they didn’t we still liked the meal. Would definitely visit again.
Great food
Last week, we had the pleasure of dining at Whip. Housed in a beautifully restored former stable, the space exudes warmth and charm. The antique carriage lamps cast a soft, inviting glow, perfectly complementing the cozy atmosphere.
The cocktail menu stood out with its creative options, some infused with local maple syrup. I opted for an Old Fashioned, which was expertly crafted and perfectly balanced.
Service was impeccable—attentive yet unobtrusive, with a pace that allowed us to truly enjoy the meal. We both chose the turkey dinner, featuring tender, juicy white meat, creamy mashed potatoes, flavorful stuffing, fresh peas, and tangy cranberry sauce. Every element on the plate was a testament to thoughtful preparation and incredible flavor.
For dessert, we shared the maple crème brûlée, a decadent treat that was the perfect ending to an already exceptional meal.
If you find yourself in the area and are looking for a standout dining experience, The Whip is an absolute must-visit.

Hostess stand was away from the entrance, walked over and greeted the hostess and she looked at us like we had interrupted her, as she was standing there alone. We proceeded to tell her 2 guests and she glared at us and then said but the wait will be 20 minutes as if that was a issue. My husband and I said that was fine and not a problem. Asked for the ladies room and then when I came out she said a table was ready, which was a pleasant surprise. She escorted us to table and slide the menus on the table and abruptly without eye contact walked away. We were then greeted by our waiter with a smile and wonderful service! My husband had a healthy size Reuben and I had a soup, a half BLT sandwich, that also came with a mini salad. The soup of the day was a chicken vegetable that was so good and dressing that came on the salad was delicious. My sandwich was just okay. Ambience was nice and waiter was truly the best.

Consistently excellent food. Healthy choices, and you can indulge your sweetooth. World-class dining in the gorgeous town of Stowe. The waitstaff are attentive, and savvy, and if you engage withe them, knowledgeable and interesting. Amongst, if not the most excelllent restaurant in Vermont.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday with family. The restaurant was excellent from atmosphere, service and great food. I would highly recommend this place for exceptional food and a good time. Would certainly go back.

We are staying at the Inn and managed to get a table to dine tonight at this popular restaurant. The food was superb - the filet Mignon with Gorgonzola and asparagus was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Service was excellent too. Quite pricey but you get what you pay for.
