This was the best food we had in Stowe this week, and considering how many fantastic meals we’ve had, that’s saying something. Every aspect from drinks to apps all the way through to dessert was amazing. We were all in awe of how delicious and creative the food was, and the portion sizes were spot on. We had great service, and will definitely come back next time we’re in town. And if you only do one thing… get the flan.
This is for poor customer care, not food. I understand it’s a business, but so is managing a family. I cancelled the night prior to a dinner reservation finding that we would need to check out the next morning rather than a day later. I was charged $50 and called by the restaurant with essentially “tough luck” told to me. Just be wary and hope no changes need to be made, so this doesn’t happen to you!
Great food. Calamari and empanadas were phenomenal. Korean bbq sandwich was top notch. Owner was friendly. Love that it is a mix of Hispanic and Asian cuisine. Really cool. Will visit again next time in VT.
The food was excellent. The steak and lobster main was delicious. In addition, the service was superb. This review originates from a southern foodie in Birmingham Alabama where we live to experience great food! Great job WF …
What a fantastic meal! Excellent and original versions of dishes that will bring you to places across the globe while making you feel right at home. For dessert: a perfect flan or a toasted coconut cake with exquisite icing.
It was ok. Two of us were there on Thanksgiving night. The service was pretty slow, but I think they were distracted chatting with the people at the table next to us. We had a reservation, a 3-course meal, and were there for about an hour and a half. One drink for both of us. They weren't busy, as there were empty tables, but maybe they were short staffed because of the holiday. The menu had a handful of beers, but of course the one I wanted they were out, maybe my luck. The food couldn't be customized (in our case, chef said the grilled broccoli couldn't be served without anchovies), which leaves the impression it probably came to the restaurant already prepared and frozen. The menu sounded intriguing, but the taste ended falling short of those expectations. Maybe it got dried out while sitting and waiting to be brought out (our chocolate torte w/ coconut ice cream was more a dry fudge with a small lump in a thin cream puddle).Would I go back? Ehh, I wouldn't be upset if I didn't.
We went for their Thanksgiving dinner. Seems they weren’t prepared or else underestimated the number of customers they’d have. Waitstaff was inattentive and food took forever to come out even though it was a predetermined menu. We were there almost two hours and our server didn’t ever even come by our table to acknowledge the food taking so long. Others around us seemed to be similarly waiting. Food itself was mostly good, though dessert (which took 40 minutes to come) was melted and seemed like it had been under a heat lamp. No modifications were allowed of the food either.
We came here with low expectations and a desire for a nice quiet meal. Our expectations were barely met and we did have a quiet meal (due to the lack of people in the restaurant). The saving grace of this restaurant is it has a wonderful waitstaff (even being short staffed) and a great manager; however, the food leaves something to be desired. Along with some drinks to start, we ordered the empanadas with kale and feta cheese. The crust was flaky but the inside was soggy and lacking flavor, additionally being boiling hot and inedible for a while as if it had been left in the microwave a bit too long. My wife had her heart set on the tagliatelle, but as with other reviews for the last few weeks, it was still not available and clearly should just be taken off the menu. Seeing as there are only 6 entrees to be offered, the menu is lackluster already in terms of options. Instead she ordered a salad, which was a decent salad but not the tagliatelle that she was hoping for. I ordered the chicken. The skin cracked off the leg, usually a good sign, but upon tasting it was more rubber then crispy. I had to remove the skin completely from the chicken to eat it as it was a terrible, chewy mouthfeel. The leg meat itself was fine but the breast was completely inedible and was way too dry. For $29, absolutely not worth it. Go to Costco for your chicken instead as it will be much better As a concession, the manager gave us a piece of coconut cake the size of your head and, unfortunately, the size was simply compensating for the taste as it was flavorless and just a waste of calories. Overall, you can do better in the area. Try somewhere else before this place.
We'd heard great things. But were sadly disappointed. Right from the get-go. When we arrived, thee was no one to greet us. We waiting. Staff people brushed pass without making eye contact. Finally when someone (the owner) appeared, he told us that we didn't have a reservation. When I proffered a screenshot of the online reservation, he said that the online system apparently wasn't integrating well with his system, but that he'd "honer" (!!!) the reservation. After we were seated, we again waited and waited for a server. The server finally took our drink orders, and a long time passed before a bartender appeared telling me that a wine we'd chosen was out of stock. Multiple menu items were not available, including the only vegetarian entry. I inquired about alternative vegetarian options and was told that two of the salads were vegetarian. The waitress appeared surprised that the one she brought contained chicken. And again I waited. The food is overpriced for what it is; and the service was abysmal. I am always reluctant to leave a bad review. But this place has a long way to go. And there are so many other fine options in Stowe.
Greetings ! Decided to have dinner here with my wife. Ordered surf and turf. $52. Eventually I was brought out a miniature lobster tail, and filet. Reminded me of a Lego Toy. Plateful of brown cream sauce. No side vegetable at all. Requested bread to fill out a meal. Brought out two slices of sourdough bread, toasted, cut in half. W/ butter. Charged $3.50 for it. Pathetic effort by the chef. Should be ashamed to put that out. Went to Solstice, at Spruce Peak, the next night. Gorgeous dinner. Generous portions. Worked out $7 less than Grey Fox. The owner of the Grey Fox should take the chef and staff , up to Solstice for dinner, for an education, and to see what a restaurant should be.

Excellent food and fantastic service! I highly recommend it. The vegan option was appreciated.
Staff at this restaurant was really friendly. Sadly they were out of some ingredients and so didn't have the one vegetarian entree on their menu. The chef modified what ingredients they had into a pasta primavera for me which was decent. The goat cheese and kale empanadas were a little greasy. I do wish they had more vegetarian options on their menu. The highlight of the meal was their mocktail - the pineapple, lime, maple ginger, mint drink was very refreshing!
This restaurant will surely become a destination site in the Stowe area. The interior is calming and sophisticated. The staff welcoming and accommodating. We shared a chopped salad that was unique in the variety of textures and flavors that was wonderful. We each ordered the mushroom tagliatelle: a generous portion, creamy, rich, earthy with bursts of sweet and savory tones. We looked forward to sharing one of the last 2 pieces of pineapple coconut cake available. It looked beautiful on the plate but tasted stale. We will visit again on our next trip to Stowe. These innovative chefs have so much to offer.
My wife and I were looking for a place to eat and unfortunately we did not make any reservations. Most restaurants were understandably booked and we decided to try Wildflower. They exceeded all of our expectations for hospitality and also the bar tender Eric is a Rock Star! The owners introduced themselves and apologized for being short staff. The food and cocktails were excellent and we've been back three times. So fare we've had the hamburger, fried chicken sandwich, the spinach empanadas, the roasted chicken and several other menu items. All were outstanding and so was the coconut cake dessert! I look forward to many more meals at Wildflower!!
This restaurant was highly rated by both TripAdvisor and Resy so we were a bit surprised to find the host wearing a t-shirt and baseball cap. And the noise in the dining room was so loud-will no rugs or carpeting to absorb the sound it just bounced off of every surface. My husband and I couldn’t hear each other at all. There were a few mistakes in our order and we got a “sorry,” but it really didn’t seem like there was anyone overseeing the staff. No one seemed really troubled that we didn’t get our appetizer and that we received the wrong dinner entree. And there was another couple behind us that received some wrong items. I expect this in a new restaurant but it didn’t seem like anyone was in charge and no one seemed terribly concerned that our expensive meal was not as we had we had requested it. And I can hardly believe that there was not one half critical comment on trip advisor or Resy.
