What a perfect find! We walked in without a reservation and were lucky enough to get a table from a party who were just leaving. Otherwise, reservations would be recommended as it was full (Columbus Day Saturday) and I expect even fuller come ski season.

The food was simply superb. There are many fusion restaurants that lose the Asian identity and others that are too Asian to be called fusion, but Scrag & Roe walks the fine line perfectly. The dishes were recognizable as Asian in taste and look but equally at home in any western restaurant. Every dish we had, prawns, tuna, salad, were fresh and deliciously prepared. We could see the chef preparing the dishes and could tell he has studied wok cooking from his technique.

If we were to nitpick, then we'd say the service could be slightly more attentive, as there were several times when we'd have to wait or wave a server over to take additional food or drink orders. While this was not a huge issue, as a small plates restaurant it should be expected that diners would be constantly ordering.

Other than that our only regret was not having a larger party or bigger stomachs so we could sample more dishes. We even talked about returning to the restaurant the next day for more!

Just had a fabulous dinner and great service! Restaurant was completely full so we sat at the bar where we enjoyed our drinks and meal which were so good! Everything was excellent but my favorite was probably the pork buns. As my husband said an 11 out of 10 :).

Visited here are the last two sundays for their sushi specials, and I have to say it was really, really good. 2 different roles and some nigiri plus 1 amazing drink each was about $80. Very good value..

The food was amazing!! If you are ever in Waitsfield, you need to be sure to make a reservation to have a meal here. Everything we had was delicious. Service was great, he was funny and perfectly attentive. The couple seated next us, annoying but first world problems. The mushrooms were our favorite as well as the tuna. We ordered plates to share which worked out perfect.

Outstanding and fearlessly bold flavors. Every one of the 5 plates my wife and I shared was better than the one before.

Great staff, great vibe.

Amazing Asian fusion food in beautiful downtown Waitsfield, Vermont, just steps from the covered bridge and Mad River. Sunday is Sushi Day so a whole delicious sushi menu is added. Definitely a place to return to even though it’s an hour drive from my place.

Scrag & Roe is one of the best fine dining options in the Mad River Valley, offering a unique, globally inspired menu with fresh ingredients and a warm, inviting ambiance. It is highly recommended for those seeking a memorable dining experience in Waitsfield. Incredibly fresh, vibrant, and authentic Asian and pan-Asian cuisine, with a strong focus on seafood and shareable small plates.

We weren’t seated for 20 mins after our reservation, no one came to take our order for another 20 mins. It was almost an hour before we even had drinks. The food took just as long and the pork buns were inedible. When I said something to the server (who I believe is also the owner) he was combative and full of excuses. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants all over the world and this was by far the worse experience.

This is our favorite restaurant in the Mad River Valley. The tuna was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicate and delicious. The prawns created a flavor explosion in my mouth! The creative drink menu was a special treat as well.
