If I listed all the amazing things I love about Scrag and Roe this review would be a novel so I will try to keep it short! The food rivals any Michelin Star restaurant that I have eaten at around the world - you can tell that it is all authentic and that Nathan has experienced these cuisines first hand through all his travels. Not to mention that every dish has a story behind it and he is more than happy to divulge in the adventure he had that led him to create that dish and put it on the menu. I also have celiac disease and I love going to a restaurant where I don’t have to worry about getting gluten poisoning- the menu is well labeled with what is gluten free and they are also happy to make any substitutions to make a dish possible for me to eat. The restaurant’s atmosphere is also so fun and magical and the cocktails are out of this world. If you are in the MRV and have the chance to experience Scrag and Roe consider yourself very lucky!
A Gem! You will never have a bad experience here. Everything I have tasted (a lot) has been absolutely delicious. Friendliest service AND promotes local artists! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We ate there with the prior menu in place and now the new menu. Have to say both were very good but the edge goes to the current selection.

Great food and atmosphere. You won’t be disappointed
Amazing food and great staff. Not rushed and friendly.
Beautiful location on the river near the covered bridge. The food knocked my socks off! The best restaurant I’ve experienced in a long time. The tuna tataki (seared tuna) was perfect. The flavors in the grilled flank steak with Thai salad took me back to Thailand! We also loved the rich flavors of the coconut chicken curry. Plenty of gluten free options! Thank you Nate for a delicious meal and thank you Jack for taking care of us! We will be back many more times.

Our experience at Scrag & Roe was a highlight of our 5 day visit to Vermont. Three of us enjoyed a fabulous flavour adventure, sharing the smashed cucumbers, steamed buns, dried fried shiitake, spicy dan dan mian and chicken adobo. All dishes were fantastic and very reasonably priced. The service was warm and friendly, our server was very knowledgeable on all the dishes available on the menu. Should we find ourselves in Waitsfield again, we will definitely make room in our itinerary for a meal here.

Just back from an absolutely exquisite meal at Scrag & Roe, and we can’t stop talking about our experience. Every dish we tried was off the charts, taking us on a journey from China to the Philippines. Our Chinese friend said his grandmother in Hong Kong would praise the dan dan noodles. I’m not a Chinese grandmother, but I loved them! Thank you, Nathan, for a wonderful evening.

We came for lunch and had the steamed pork buns and Dan Dan noodles.
The pork belly was tender, perfectly seasoned with a Chinese 5-spice blend, and served neatly on little pillows, just the way a steam bun should be. Exquisite and deeply flavorful.
The Dan Dan noodles were perfectly prepared; tender and drenched in pleasantly spicy sauce, with distinct peanut flavor and that wonderful tingle you expect from Sichuan peppercorn.
Friendly and attentive service, a clean and welcoming dining area, and a good bar selection topped everything off. This is certainly the kind of place the Valley needed and I am so very happy for the owner. I already cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Go, now! You will not regret it.
Kid-friendliness: We went with our 5 month old and we're not the only family there with a child. Welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff made the dining experience enjoyable.

Five stars! Fabulous food! Would highly recommend if you’re looking for great food in the Valley. We shared three apps and one main, the food was fantastic and we didn’t leave feeling over fed but VERY happy. Portions were perfect. Great spice and mixture of flavors. The cocktails were also wonderful. Nathan-the owner, has created a great treat for anyone dining in!!! Must try!

Ate at S&R twice in the past month. The first time was with family, eight of us, and it was one of the best meals I've eaten in VT in the 20 yrs. that I've lived here. the pace, quality, service and flavors were all amazing.
My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary and the menu has completely changed to pan-asian and was also amazing, tuna tataki, tiger salad, steam buns w/5 spice pork, prawns with chili all amazing! S & R is our go to fine dining spot! Nathan is a great host and all the servers and cooks are top notch..Go & Eat!

A comfy little restaurant, with a friendly staff, and great food. They have a pan-asian style menu, from which we chose four sharable dishes for the four of us. Each dish uniquely delicious, and we all left satisfied.
Well worth a visit.

Scrag and roe was kind enough to let us book their space for an evening to host a dinner for our small wedding over the summer. The food is excellent, with a great blend of fresh Mediterranean and Asian flavors. Even some family who didn't normally enjoy things like fish, mussels, and lamb were surprised with how much they liked the dishes that were served up.
