The food is great... excellent sandwiches, well-filled and made on a large selection of bread and rolls. BUT a caveat: Prices on some things are not marked! I'm an old, disabled man and in my travels around Vermont and elsewhere, I collect coffee mugs. I expect to pay no more than $15 for one; a restaurant in Poultney only charged $4.00. Some have been free. But at Wells, I found a mug with the Wells Country Store logo on it, and did not think it was worth all that much. But by the time they rang up the sale, I was too embarrassed to put it back... it wasn't marked... but they charged me $43.00 for a darn coffee mug!! That's RIDICULOUS. It's not a big mug, but whoever is making them is sure getting a profit off the unaware old guys like me! Be Careful at Wells... prices may be higher than you think!!

Had a great donut here. It was quite busy so there weren’t any seats to hang around and eat, but there’s plenty of spots in the nearby green spaces to sit and eat.

Very disappointed with wells country store! I have buying a loyal customer for longer than i can remember. I recently purchased 3 morning glory muffins and when we got home to have them they were completely raw inside. I called and talked with the young man who sold them to me. He said he was sorry but asked if i cooked them. First off I shouldn't have to cook them but we did try but it ruined them He said he would make it right. I live 35 minutes away and go there every sunday after church. I arrived today and spoke with him. He told me there was nothing he could do to make it right. I left and unfortunately will not return. Very poor business practice at best! I understand things happen but when you run a small local business you must try to make it right!

Stopped into this quaint country store looking for a bite to eat. Both my wife and I ordered 2 different sandwiches BOTH of which were delicious. The service was great, we are definitely going back you can either sit inside or out depending on the weather. We were able to sit outside amongst the colorful fall leaves. Between the service and atmosphere we would give it more than 5 stars if we were able.

Great little bakery & deli. I got a specialty sandwich, I forget the name but it had turkey, cheddar and cranberry sauce on sour dough. It was delishious. The pastries are great too. Impeccable, friendly service. Fair prices, clean store. Plenty of VT products for sale. Large drink and bread selection.

Quaint Vermont country store with delicious fresh prepared sandwiches and salads. Perfect stop for local cyclists. Homemade baked items that always put a smile on your face. Nice selection of beer and wine, but cannot be consumed on premises. Highly recommended.

I love this place--I ride my bike up from Bennington just to get one of their absolutely wonderful pastries and a good cup of coffee so that I can sit on their beautiful patio and enjoy the morning (weather permitting, of course). I could live on pastries if such a thing were feasible, and these are among the best I've ever tasted, anywhere--and I lived in Germany for three years, so I've had some pretty good ones. My wife drives up and picks me up, and she loves them, too. It's such a nice surprise to find such good food in such a surprising place--the only down side for me is that it's so far away that I don't come nearly as often as I'd like.
Best and friendliest store in the area. We always go here for pies - make sure that you order the day ahead. They have great sandwiches, too. And when the weather turned chilly they had sweatshirts in everyone's size!!
