Anacortes Charm Walk was a wonderful event. So much fun visiting local retailers and enjoying the Christmas Season. Thank you to the Chamber for organizing and to all the gracious retailers who participated. I look forward to the next charm walk.

Today is December 7th, most people still remember this as "Pearl Harbor Day", a sacred day of remembrance. But does the chamber remember? No...not a single American flag placed on Commercial Avenue...a simple oversight, or the erasure of American history...such a disgrace! Let's see what happens on the next 911....

As a business owner in Anacortes, I must say that I’m terribly disappointed with the Anacaortes Chamber of Commerce. After paying dues, I’m not sure what service they actually provided? For example, my business isn’t listed under food and beverage on their website, and I’ve inquired several times, “why?”.Secondly, I’ve seen very few members at my establishment. In fact, the person I spoke to on the telephone didn’t know I existed?

Reserve rights to edit later depending on the future of chamber!!! Seeing as so many people are hating on the chamber, I had to put in my two cents... First off, Anacortes is a thriving town that allows organizations to parktake in various festivals (ie. waterfront, arts, etc). The sad news is that everyone doesn't know what responsibilities are part of the chamber. The city and the chamebr are separate. The city is the government, and i am pretty sure the chamber is a non-profit. HUGE DIFFERENCE. If you want your community to be thriving, I suggest you support your local non profits who work their hardest ti continue to make your town vibrant and ecomical. From what I read on the chamber website is that they throw the waterfront fest, bier on the pier, and spring wine. None of whcih block commercial. They also recive donations to make our town more christmasy. On top of this, they also pay out of pocket for the horse trolley? Insane! I am not sure how they make money to do all that they do, but i know that community support and understanding will help them be more successful and create a better, happier community for everyone in Anacortes! I personally have enjoyed all the event i have attended by them, especially my children when we are at the christmas lighting or attending the waterfront fest! I hope people read this review and learn what the chamber is actually doing for us ratehr than complaining about events that are not related to them in any way shape or form!

My wife and I drive up from Everett almost every Thursday to eat at the Island Cafe. It's always worth the trip and we love coming up to Anacortes...that is, until this past Thursday August 1, 2019. We arrived to find that most of Commercial Avenue was blocked off, as well as most of the side streets. THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR CUSTOMERS OF THE DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS TO PARK! We had to risk going through one of the "Street Closed" signs and parking on one of the side streets just so we could get dinner. We spoke with several other merchants and dining establishments before we left Anacortes and they were all as PO'ed as we were. Many of the food establishments were particularly angry because this 'event' allows outside food vendors to operate and it takes away from their business...on top of their customers not having any place to park! If I was a downtown merchant/vendor I would be suing the Chamber of Commerce for lost revenue...

I had to visit the Vehicle Licensing office in Anacortes, which used to be in the Chamber of Commerce office on Commercial. I hadn't been there in years and just thought it was the same office. The woman at the Chamber of Commerce, BETTY, looked at me and said, 'Back up 3 steps and look to your left. I SAID BACK UP and look to your left." Well, my left was Commercial St and I said, 'Left?' And she looked at me like I was the moron of the century and said, 'Yes, I said left. You will see a HUGE sign, so back up and look." OMG, she was so rude. Using that tone of voice is unacceptable, especially in the position she's in. Horrible.

When we moved to Anacortes ten years ago, we expanded our business to the area and became members of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. Initially, we were well-received as new members and like other businesses in town, participated in chamber events and engagement on their social media sites. We noticed that we were blocked from engaging on their Facebook page and inquired why we were blocked, unlike other businesses, businesses that were older and more established with the Chamber, were allowed privileges and our business wasn't. We received vague responses that didn't address our concern, and to this day, we are still blocked from engaging with the chamber's Facebook page. We decided to terminate our membership as we were troubled by the discrimination towards our business and lack of access to chamber communications online. Be careful if you are a new business in town: we saw no benefit from the membership and were treated differently than other older, established businesses.

Ten years ago we moved to Anacortes, established our business and became members of the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. We were excited about expanding our business in the area and interacting with other businesses through the chamber. Because social media is such a big part of how people and businesses communicate, I did what other local businesses did: engaged with the chamber on their Facebook page, posting any offers or events we had, doing exactly what other businesses did and still do on their page under Community. We noticed that we were blocked from engaging on their Facebook page and inquired why we were blocked, unlike other businesses, businesses that were older and more established with the Chamber, were allowed privileges and our business wasn't. We never received a credible response, except that they were monitoring all businesses' posts and we weren't the only business blocked from posting. To this day, we are still blocked from engaging with the chamber's Facebook page. We decided to terminate our membership as we were troubled by the discrimination towards our business and obvious double standard when it came to engaging with the chamber's Facebook page online. Warning to new businesses in Anacortes: there was no benefit to our business from the membership and we were treated differently than other older, established businesses.

Poor, I sent a request for information and maps a month prior to my vacation and I still haven't received anything and now it is too late.
