Naung Mai Thai Kitchen

Based just on what we had this one visit, I would not suggest that this is a place to go out of your way to try. But if you’re in Anacortes around mealtime, this place will do the job! They had a small section at the back of the menu labeled “vegan specials” with two items listed (a veggie and tofu soup of sorts and a tofu satay). Otherwise, nothing is even listed as vegetarian. We got the fresh rolls with peanut sauce, which were actually quite good. The tofu satay was lacking and the pad see ew was inedible to me but good to my husband. They didn’t hesitate when we ordered the pad see ew without fish sauce, which suggests that they can easily remove it, but honestly, it still tasted fishy to me!

In terms of food I found it to be okay but reasonably priced. Actually 12.99 these days is a bargain! It seems to be a standard small-town Thai. There is a robot that brings your food out!
I had the spicy basil which was good. Chicken was moist, veggies fresh but pretty soupy. My dining partner had a pork “garlic dish “ which was also soupy but aside from a sprinkle of fried garlic it didn’t have much going on. Other dining partner had the basil fried rice and seemed neutral.
Some confusion from the waitress when asking about gluten free but the host seemed to be confident that everything could be made gluten free.
Non-factor observations: the forks are HUGE. and the plating was awkward, I guess I should have asked for more plates.

We ordered two to-go dishes and they both appeared to be lunch left overs. The Pad Thai noodles were stuck together and green onion was not fresh, very little fresh cabbage, carrots and peanuts.
Kee Mao also had to be from lunch. All vegetables were falling apart and soft and only one peice of broccoli and 2 tiny basil leaves and 2 halves of small mushrooms. We threw away the falling apart green beans. It did look they put new chicken in the old dish. Dining may be better inside, but we are not willing to try.

Ordered a vegan Tom Kha with tofu and found chicken Tom Kha after driving an hour home. After sending the requested pictures to prove what we received they acknowledged giving us another customer's order. They refused to refund us for the food we can't eat. Will not order here again.

curry should not be water. flavor was ok but coconut water is not coconut milk. even after I politely asked if it's always so watery and said I didn't want it they still made me pay for it. I won't be back if this is how you serve curry.

The food was sooo amazing. This is hands down the best Thai I’ve ever had. Our server was Bianca and she was so sweet and helped us choose all our food. Will be returning once we’re in the area again! ❤️

We have loved this place for lunch and for dinner. Staff is so kind and provides the best service. The food is amazing! Like most things in Anacortes there punching well above their weight class. Great for takeout, afternoon lunch and a sunbeam, or outdoors ( well-behaved pups are okay).

We are from out of town but spent a couple of months here and made multiple trips. Whenever we are in town this is going to be our go-to! Thank you so much guys!

I went here on my son's request and it was good. There's plenty of parking when you arrive and they offer takeout and dine in. Enjoy ?

Really good food, clean place, friendly staff. My wife left her purse here on accident. We called, they had already recovered it. We picked it up this morning before they opened. Thank you, Naung Mai!

Extremely disappointing compared to what you get in the actual restaurant. We ordered takeout quantities of food were small rice was missing from one of the dishes. Don’t order out if you want their best go to the restaurant. Beef was extremely overcooked

Always fast and delicious and I love that they expanded into the space next door. I visit every time I come up from the south end!

Great ambiance, extensive menu and the staff can easily veganize most things since they do not add fish sauce ahead of time. We ordered hot herbal tea, stir fried eggplant with tofu and vegetables, and the masaman curry with tofu and vegetables. BTW the bathroom was super clean! The restaurant was pretty full but the service was quick and the servers checked in with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed.
