I've had fried chicken and catfish from the south and this is the closest thing to it. If you want soul food get it at serious soul at cubbys. Prices are little high but what isn't now a days. I definitely recommend this place if you want or crave some southern soul food.

I am from Nebraska. Small town Nebraska and I never had soul food ever before. I am Chicano so I grew up on Mexican food. But with my job on the railroad I have the privilege to travel the USA. I decided to try some 3 piece fried fish and collard greens. It was so damn good. I felt amazing. I should have got her name to thank her on her properly. She has a nice business , good environment, good music but above all that food is delicious. Thank you so much. And to all of those that read this please try it! I plan to go back to try some chicken some corn bread and ox tails next!

To say this food is good is an understatement, it was AMAZING!! I tried the catfish, chicken wings, fries and greens, every single morsel was seasoned to perfection!! I've tried so many soulfood restaurants in Washington and Portland trying to find one that tastes like home and I finally found it, I live an hour and a half away but I'm going to he a customer for life. Not only was the food bomb but the lovely owner was such a sweetheart, very kind and so welcoming. This place puts the soul in soulfood!!

Amazing food! The owner personally cooks everything. The owner/chef was very friendly and made sure we had everything we could possibly need before we began grubbing on the delicious soul food. (condiments,napkins dessert, ect). We ate in the car because it was sunny outside. Inside the car was silence, only hearing the crunch from the fried catfish, okra, and hush puppies we quickly consumed. Definitely check this place out! You won't be disappointed.

When I tell you this is a hidden gem, believe it! Don’t let the outside discourage you from trying this amazing food; the chicken wings were seasoned and fried to perfection. They have so many good sides: okra, Mac ‘n cheese, greens to name just a few. I’m excited to try their burgers and other entrees when I get the chance. The customer service was as good as the food. The restaurant is clean and smells wonderful when you walk in.

I came here last week when I forgot to pack a lunch and I was blown away!!! How is this store not slammed all the time? I had a catfish fry with hush puppies and mac & cheese and collard greens. Greens were toothsome, not stringy or mushy, with just the right amount of spice. Catfish was flaky, crispy, down home just right! (Mac was good but I like my own recipe a little better ?♂️) Hush puppies were fresh, never frozen, and perfectly fluffy. Prices are going up everywhere, but if you need soul food, these are the best deals around. I saw reviews that said cash-only, so you should know she takes cards now.

Yall. I've never been more invested too share my review! First of all ill address the lower ratings... If u read that is busy or closed or takes awhile to get your food, it's because this owner is operating alone and pouring the most amazing amount of care, love, and passion into what she does.
Now for the good stuff!
Yall, I found this place last minute at 705pm on a Wednesday knowing they would close at 730 but figured I would grab whatever was left- NO! The owner whom was operating 100% on her own was still handing out to go and drive thru orders while insisting i take my time and look over the menu because she cooks to order. The conversation as well as the effort she was putting into her buisness was amazing to get to experience all on its own. She insisted I try the catfish after learning I didn't have great experiences prior and asked me to sit while she cooked. While sippin on sweet tea and chatting while she cooked and attended to many customers she dropped a plate of collard greens, fried catfish, potato salad, and corn bread on my table and resumed working. To tell you it was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life would be an understament. Yall my mind warped as I was having flashbacks of being in my grandmother's kitchen as a kid. Then she dropped a huge plate of chicken and rolls. The fried catfish and chicken were to DIE for. The breading is crisp and soft at the same time. The seasoning in the breading is very much there in every bite. The collard greens could have been my entire meal as the were cooked and seasoned perfectly in the juices with beef. Cornbread was on point. Potato salad was better than grandma's.
If you ever find yourself wanting to experience your Southern roots or travel back in time to when things were good... this is the place. The owner cooks with love and experience and lives to please her customers. I will be back everytime I'm in town and look forward to being a long time customer!
