Traveling and I always am nervous on selecting a restaurant. This place was good all around. The staff are very friendly, good sense of humor, very very clean. Fast service and good clean place and food seemed fresh. I would go back again if not traveling

Starting Gate is our favorite greasy spoon diner. The food is fantastic, and the staff are absolutely wonderful. We come in nearly every week, and everyone knows us by name. This is a local gem, and worth checking out.

Felt like I was back in 1975, the waitress ( 1960s or 70s Stoner that never grew up) gave me a napkin and some silverware which did not include a fork and what they gave me did not look like it was safe to use. I ordered breakfast with country gravy looks like they took the gravy out of a can and just threw it on the plate I could see the gelatin still wiggling in it, it honestly did not even look like it was hot just thrown in the microwave for a couple seconds. The staff is more busy talking about summer Rock shows in getting high and drunk at the amphitheater rather than serving customers. This restaurant should come with a warning and I'm honestly surprised the health department keeps it open. my personal opinion is I'll never go back. The one positive at least they spoke English and they were civil.
The hash browns were slightly undercooked for my taste, but the eggs and sausage were fine. My grandson loved the bacon cheeseburger and fries. I'll definitely go again.

Full & happy. Best diner in the SEATAC area. Fast service and the servers are fun & witty. The atmosphere is exactly as it should be - all American, classic, old school. Everyone is tossing friendly banter back and forth. They have one of the best burgers and some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had. Food is fresh, delicious, great quality and VERY reasonably priced. I spent about $14 less here than I did at a different diner I tried out recently, and the food was way better here. And they don’t play with the bottomless coffee. I’m convinced they’d keep filling my cup until I drop dead LOL. Which is how it should be. My dad and I used to go on little daddy-daughter diner dates when I was younger, and it’s one of our favorite memories. We now live many states apart and away from our favorite diner from our hometown but this was the closest I could get to that nostalgia. This diner is about more than food - it’s about having a little fun & being free-spirited. This is what an American diner is all about! Thanks and I’ll be back.
P.s. The burger was so good I didn’t even think to take a pic until it was almost completely destroyed. Proof that it was in fact delicious. I assaulted the potato salad shortly after I took these photos.
