First time here. We came for a birthday. Service was great. Food was delicious. Overall, had a great dinner. Prices a little high, but not outrageous for the quality. They left a nice birthday note on the table to begin with. Our meals were Penn Cove mussels; Cassoulet; Black Cod; the fish special and the crispy garlic chicken. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. I would also recommend getting the bread service. It was slightly warm, rustic and came with a tasty rosemary butter. I guess my only 'ding' is for the birthday guest, they only 'gifted' a coconut macaroon. Would have been nice to have a little better dessert or if only cookies, bring enough for the five people at the table. But that is a minor thing and wouldn't stop me from recommending them or coming back. Thank you.
Nice and relaxing and great variety in the lunch menu. Portions are good. Prices on OpenTable menu are about half the current prices. For example: lobster roll on OpenTable menu is $20. Actually, it's $39. Still worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Black Cod on black rice. It was perfectly cooked and flavoured. My friend enjoyed her crab cakes. The service was very friendly. We'll be back
Bis on Main remains a lovely standby for special occasions and good business dinners. The service is wonderful and the food is delicious. It's a fairly loud space due to all the hard surfaces, so if you need to be able to have a quiet discussion it may not be the best but in every other facet it is a delight.
Easter Brunch. Menu selection was great. Service was outstanding. Food was delicious. Loved the Beignets.
Visiting from Boston. Really cute neighborhood. The food was outstanding. Halibut special was sublime. Ordered several apps we shared at the table - shrimp, crab cakes & cheese/charcuterie all exceptional. Great service, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful in guiding our group. The owner stopped by our table and was very engaging. Beautiful artwork in a nice, bright space. Will be back next time I'm in Seattle.
Came here for happy hour and had a great time! Highly recommend the fried chicken sandwich- it was hot, crispy, and delicious. The fries were perfectly cooked and so addicting. I would love to come back and try the regular menu sometime.

Beautiful, elegantly executed culinary expressions. Food that requires thoughtfulness, skill and education to create.
Food menu and wine selection are great. It's a welcome relief to eat some more sophisticated food than the average junk food you find in most nearby restaurants. Unfortunately it seemed the kitchen was struggling, even though there weren't that many guests. My halibut was way overcooked, dry and firm. We also had to wait 45 minutes between every course, making it a very lengthy dinner.

?$300 for 2 people was completely wasted. NY steak was cooked wrong twice. Crab cakes are gummy and have very little crab. Potato gratin was served raw inside twice! The staff was apologetic, but, that does not matter when you pay $300.
* The NY steak was served raw inside rather than what I ordered. I had clearly told the waiter I wanted medium with no raw meat inside. After the steak was served, the waiter even said "the kitchen blew it" because it was raw inside. The waiter took it away and had it "recooked" and put in a to go box.
However, when I opened the to go box and cut into the steak, it was still red raw throughout in the middle. I think the problem is the steak is cut too thick to do any degree of cooking beyond "rare done" without burning the outside of the steak. The steak fat was even tough and raw. This was not a $70 serving of steak!
* The potato gratin side dish was served almost raw on the outside and inside. I sent it back. So the chef comes out 5 minutes later with a new undercooked potato gratin side dish and walks away. The replacement potato gratin side dish was also undercooked. The potato layers still were raw on the inside of the dish and barely cooked on the outside. This was part of a $72 steak dinner. I expect better.
* Crab cakes. Where is the crab? ?
The crab cakes were gummy from over breading and had almost no crab. Two crab cakes cost $26. If there had been more crab, $26 would have been a reasonable price.?
* The miso black cod had great quality fish, but, sadly the sauce was so syrupy sweet, you could not taste the fish.
There were too many mistakes in the food service to ignore. 1) Steak cooked to wrong doneness. 2) Crab cakes were mostly gummy breading. 3) Miso cod was served with a syrupy, too sweet sauce masked the flavor of the fish. 4) Asparagus side dish was overcooked.
There was no excuse for the food to be so bad. The chef owner was in the kitchen so he can't blame the bad food on another chef.

Love this restaurant. Went on a date and the setting, food and service were top shelf. Warm Beet salad was one of the best I've had. Highly recommend this restaurant. 5 noms for the Bellevue staple... nom nom nom nom nom.

Had dinner here with a group and had a delicious meal. We started with charcuterie and their house bread. I shared a salad (their arugula salad) which was perfect for a small salad to start. The highlight was the main course - the black cod. You don't see black cod often on menus so that was great. It came on top of rice with mushrooms. They were able to swap out for mashed potatoes and asparagus since I don't like mushrooms which was awesome. Great wine and liquor selection. Service was attentive and really informative. Great dinner.

For what you pay, the food is terribly underwhelming. My group initially went in hearing high praise for their Black Cod and Seafood Linguini; on top of that, I also had the opportunity to try their Foie Gras, Beet & Arugula salad, and the heftily-priced Filet Mignon. The Black Cod was quite good, and I enjoyed all aspects of that dish. Were I to come here again, I'd almost certainly order it again.
Unfortunately, the praise ends there. The rest of the cast was riddled with either poor execution, or some really confusing decisions; I couldn't help but notice that the herb butter they serve with their complimentary bread made it taste like Thanksgiving stuffing, for example. Flavor-wise, most of what I ate lacked the quality I expected for the cost.
In terms of the atmosphere, we were seated by the window at a table that was terribly claustrophobic; the waiters had a very difficult time reaching the window side sections of the table because of how close they were positioned together, and my seat was bumped (unintentionally, of course) multiple times by the people seated next to me simply because of the lack of space. I will also mention that the glass my drink was served in had food flakes stuck to the lip.
The service was fine. I would like to especially praise the young man who assisted our table, and offered us their complimentary bread (which we weren't aware was served at the time) when he noticed that the waiter assigned to our table never gave us any.
Overall, Bis was not very good. I'm not interested in going here again, and would likely try to find an alternative if my group suggests coming here to eat.

Small but cozy restaurant just south of Bellevue Downtown Park. I've been once for Seattle/Bellevue restaurant week and then again recently for a group party. The food was delicious and the prob sizes were generous. Service was great and I had no complaints. Great place for a casual somewhere upscale dinner.

The meal starts with bread and butter. The house butter is special and the texture of the bread is to our liking. We really love the Caprese and the crab cake, looking good and tasting great! The entrees are just OK. Maybe we’d try something else next time.
