Dear Gilberts, I love coming to your restaurant and every time I am in Seattle which is often I make a point to come in. But this weekend will be my last. Your PRICES HAVE BECOME INSANE. I get it your portions are large but still. $26 for a bagel with vegi's and that small scoop of potato salad. Prices have increased everywhere but you started so high and now it just not worth it. $27.99 for an omelet like what? Caesar salad $26.99. I just don't get it. By the looks of other reviews I am not alone in this. I might also add that the older lady at the cash is about as friendly as a cactus.

The prices here are outrageous. A simple scramble with ONE egg costs a whopping $30, which is absolutely absurd. Even a donut with cream cheese is a shocking $9. You can get much better deals at the coffee shop next door, where prices are three times lower.

This place used to be good but now it is so expensive! $30 for a normal breakfast dish that would be $12 at another place. Especially when you have to order yourself

This place is a total FAIL. I'm calling from out of town to have some food delivered to my family who are currently home bound and with their social indicates that they deliver when I called she said "no delivery" and she said specifically no DoorDash or Uber.

To be clear Gilbert's does not offer delivery of any kind.

Gilbert’s on Main is a beloved, cozy deli located in downtown Bellevue, known for its hearty breakfasts, delicious sandwiches, and welcoming atmosphere. This local favorite serves up generous portions with a focus on fresh, quality ingredients. The menu offers a mix of classics, like bagels and lox, pastrami sandwiches, and loaded omelets, as well as unique specialties that keep regulars coming back. The staff is friendly, and the vibe is relaxed, making it a great spot to enjoy a laid-back meal any time of day. For anyone looking for comfort food with a homemade touch, Gilbert’s on Main is a must-visit.

Pricey relative to the offering. For example, for the price, the black coffee could be better than the bitter fare on offer. Portion sizes seem really huge. Service is fine and fast, its partially self-serve, order at counter, grab the cutlery etc. find a table, and they bring the food out to the table.

Very overpriced for what you get. Food was good and portions were appropriate but the quality and service and not close to what it should be for what you pay.

I am from NY and I was excited to find out about a potentially decent deli in Bellevue. However, after looking at the menu online and seeing the outrageous prices for a sandwich, I think I'll pass. $27 for a sandwich??? $15 maybe.. but who is going to pay $27 for a corned beef sandwich? I might as well go to a nice restaurant for that price. Even the best deli's in NY, the part of the US known for its delis does not charge such ridiculous prices for food.

At my favorite deli on Long Island, NY, ALL of their sandwiches are $13.99 and a breakfast sandwich is $6. This deli is also much better quality than Gilberts, I promise you that.

Husky Deli, a famous West Seattle deli is the same. Great deli with a storied history. The most expensive sandwich on the menu is $13.95.

Bottom line - Gilberts is DOUBLE the price of any decent deli. They would make a considerable amount more profit and have a more loyal customer base if they had reasonable prices for their food. Gilberts is a HUGE rip off.

Meh. I’d go elsewhere for breakfast in Bellevue. Nice location and cozy setting, but the food was disappointing (omelette and bagel) as well as the prices! Wtf - $38 for an omelette and a house coffee - yikes! On to the next

I visited this spot for brunch on a Sunday morning. The place was quite packed, and the lines were a bit long, but they prepared our order fairly quickly once we ordered. The food was decent and there were no major issues with taste. However, I found the prices to be unreasonably high. The portions were large but mostly filled with potatoes and bagels, which made the meal feel more like a lot of filler. I would appreciate the place much more if they offered more reasonably priced, well-balanced portions without so much emphasis on potatoes.

Alright.

Folks -- if the people working at a restaurant are working behind the counter, they are on salary; therefore, tipping them is not necessary, especially since those tips are split among those who checked in that day.

In this case, you most likely serve yourself, in most cases with napkins and utensils and all the serve staff do is bring your plate. This is an example of tip inflation, which is common in most restaurants, looking to top off bills, for people who may not really care and already are in the mode of tipping, but it is really not necessary especially if you can pay about $35+ for a breakfast that only delivers some pieces of bread with generic syrup, strawberries and butter.

It is super annoying that they give you a merchant copy you are forced to sign underlying a tip section which the clerks surely monitor before you get your food. Would be great if the pay station faced the clients and they could tip at their own discretion, but here that is not the case.

Food quality is decent, but they possibly could serve smaller portions and offer more built in variety for all the menu options. Owner stuck in past, won't likely change. And the menus are ridiculously disorganized. Provided an alternative here. Interested parties, hmu -- can re-make yours also.

I had a lovely lunch with an old friend. Our food was quite good, if a bit on the expensive side. The tables are small, but work well for two. The menu is large and probably has something for just about everyone. You do order at the counter and your food is brought to you. The food was fresh, presented well, and was delicious.
